Come on, I'm not sure why you'd need a review of this beautiful property; turning in and seeing the front gates is enough because as we drive the beautiful drive to the resorts main entrance is just a precursor of the environment that awaits. As you find a need to throw away money, I would not recommend this course as I believe it is completely overpriced and not the most scenic or maintained Golf Course to play. Prices are ridiculous, compared to the quality of your round. For whatever reason they found a need to cut down most of their trees and not maintain the rough very well. Greens are more challenging but why the NCAA is decided to host the tournament here surprises me. read more

Played the legends course today. The staff was very friendly and the carts were nice but that's where that compliments stop. This track and I do mean Goat Farm is in very poor condition and is a VERY long way from acceptable given the $185 greens fee. From tee box to greens total disrepair. Frankly it's what one would expect from a $45 muni. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

Awesome course in North San Diego, my daughter had the privilege to play in a tournament here on 3/25/18 for the North County Junior Golf Association. Overall she shot a 78 with her partner (scramble) which for being the first time she played the course was incredible. Many hazards come into play which makes it worth playing a few times as many cannot be seen from the tee box. Five stars ! read more

If I told you honestly what this course is worth I'd be banned for life from Yelp. We played this course about 4-5 years ago and it was a much better play and in way better shape. Playing in it in March you would swear it was the dead of August as it is completely burned up with torched and chewed up fairways and roughs as unruly as a wildebeest. The track itself is still good overall (we've played excellent courses since) but most of the day I felt like closing my eyes and golfing blind so I could flashback to the way this course used to look. Even the greens aren't green and are faded out. I'm in disbelief as we've had one of the wettest winters in a decade or more and you would never know it looking at this course. There are tons of repair stake areas throughout the course that you must avoid. To add insult to injury, they're aerating the greens so on top of it looking disgusting it's a putting dis-ASS-ter as well. If you've ever visited a course where there was an ownership transition and one owner was investing no more money and letting it go that is what this course reminds me of. Honestly they should remove the word "RESORT" from any reference to their golf courses at this point. At least until they get back on track. THE POSITIVES: They have water and ice stations so you can replenish your bottle. There is some cool bird wildlife on the ponds. At least we weren't at work. Um...yes, that's about it. The STAFF are friendly and hospitable and I wish I had more good to say about the course itself. In its current condition this course isn't worth paying over $45 to play. read more

I've read other reviews and wondered if we played same course. All of our foursome were disappointed and won't be back. Perhaps time of year but fairways, rough greens were in poor shape. And even at $75 was overpriced. Do not know if Champions course better but for resort course not up to standards one would expect. Staff were good. read more

Excellent fairways and excellent greens, but definitely on the pricey side. The Champions Golf Course at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa is a challenging course with a number of well-placed bunkers near the greens. Fairways are wide for the most part; however, the quality of approach shots will lead to good or bad scores on holes. The course is in excellent condition. The greens are in good shape, but could roll a little faster. The course is very fun to play, but a little too costly for most people. read more

Crab grass contaminated, overrated, dirt in most bunkers. Sand is so horrible it actually ruins your wedges hitting out of the bunkers. The greens were as slow and bumpy as I've ever played. Actually I've paid $25 for a round at a course that had better conditions. I work in the golf industry and I know value, this place was hard to stomach. Layout was silly, not really a test of golf. The rancho Bernardo inn is a way nicer resort course and for the money and the sheer pain in the ass this place is to get out and play on.. the one time is enough for me. Never coming back. All you're getting is the name la Costa here, the golf courses are crap. read more

Fabulous Father's Day Great Course, even greater people. For Father's Day, I was able to play La Costa's Champions Course, twice! I had purchased a "deal" through Golfmoose for 2 players, plus a same day replay. Sometimes, at other courses when you check-in with a discounted "Groupon" type deal purchased thru a 3rd party, you are treated with, shall we say, "a little less enthusiasm." Not the case at all at La Costa, the staff there gave me a warm and professional welcome (shout out to Derek and David!), immediately acknowledged my discounted deal, and did everything to maximize its use. A buddy and I had the first tee time in the morning at 7 am. We upgraded to the Golfboards versus a traditional cart, and finished our round in 3 hours flat! The Champions course is a great layout, and the course was in good condition. The greens had been punched about 3 weeks ago and were running true. After that round, we checked back in at the pro shop and were given lots of options for our afternoon replay. All told, I spent about 9 hours at La Costa (early round, lunch break, afternoon round) and there was one common denominator thru out my day: Great Staff! From the guys that checked me in, the cart guys who set up the golf boards, the starter, the beverage cart gals, and I even met the head greenskeeper (Hey Timothy!) out on the course, every person was helpful and friendly in every way. I will never go back. Not worth the money and it is reliable​ on the name​. The inside staff was very unfriendly. I complained about the pace of play and someone responded "what do you want me to do about it" believe his name was Gunter or Gavin, something with a G. Very snobby. along with the ​pace of play,​ the course looks​ awful. take your money to crossings, cheaper and better. Only good thing was the bag boys got our clubs up right away and were apologetic. read more

I loved every bit of this course. I have friends in town and we are starting with a golf weekend at La Costa. Everyone from the pro shop to the starter to the beverage cart were an absolute pleasure. The course was in good shape and the day was just perfect. I would highly recommend if you want to treat your friends to an all around great day. read more

I spent my 54th birthday, yesterday, at La Costa and I was treated royally! From the staff, Derek and a nice lady (her name escapes me) in the pro shop to the outside staff, I was known yesterday as "the birthday man." Every employee at​ the resort was very kind. Got a great deal on Golf Now to play the Champions course mid-week at La Costa. I guess golfers don't want to play during the misty June gloom mornings, I had the whole course to myself. After the 2nd hole I had to change my course management approach and play smarter. The bunkers and water still were a challenge. Great thinking golfers course to focus on course management. Awesome resort, and a well-maintained, interesting, challenging golf course. My wife and I really enjoyed our round of golf on Saturday, Sep 30. We normally play at Aliso Viejo Country Club and have not found it worth our while to drive too far from it. However, La Costa is definitely worth the hour+ drive each way. read more

Worst experience ever. Walked off golf course after 14 holes. Took 4 1/2 Hours to play 14 holes. Don't waste your money. Called golf shop to see if they would speed up group that had 3 open holes in front of them. Starter came out and told us they were "members". Even more reason to speed up. Will never go back. read more
