Three good buddies at The Fountains golf course!

This golf course is a hybrid executive course and regular golf course. This isn't a criticism but a description. It is an interesting course and is well maintained; the greens are fast and sometimes undulating. The staff are friendly and helpful. The carts are basic without any GPS services. The deli between in the 8th and 9th hole is laudable. Parking is reasonable for a resort course. What keeps me from giving this course five stars is the lack of a driving range...they have the space for it! Will I return? YES! (Now build a suitable driving range!)

The Staff - Friendly staff, easy to check in, on time. The Course - Well maintained. Short and sweet. 3 hours to play 18 holes with some wait time. I usually play the red tee but easily played the white tee. One small complaint was the strong smell of algae near the bodies of water. Also, be cautious of people from the Welk resort walking through the course. No Practice Driving Range but there is a one person net. Food - you can dial in on a phone at the 8th hole to pick up food at the end of the 9th hole. Free refills!

This is easily my favorite executive golf course in the San Diego area! It's a par 62 but the distances offer golfers of different levels a chance to practice most clubs in their bag. I usually play with my boyfriend or with my dad and brother who are much longer hitters so it's easy for us to enjoy a round while I play from the red tees (since I'm a beginner and a short hitter) while they play from the blues. The difference in yardage between the red, white, and blue tees are actually wide enough for players of different distance comfort levels to play together. The fairways and greens are very well kept and the facilities include putting and chipping greens as well as a hitting net for warming up right before you start your round. Play can be slow occasionally when it's a busy day but my most recent round in a foursome on a Sunday afternoon was a very reasonable 3.5 hour long round. I really like the views and the scenery with the rocky hills, beautiful ponds and fountains, and greenery. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and the prices are very reasonable with green fees ranging from $29 to $42 depending on the day and tee time, and that's including the cart already! It is a bit of a drive for us since I'm from the Mira Mesa area but the great experience is definitely worth the drive. We'll definitely be back! :)

This review is for their wedding venue, not the golf course itself…read more This was one of our final contenders and ultimately stood out for creating an intimate atmosphere without feeling dominated by the golf course. All of my communication was through Nicole, who was consistently responsive and quick to answer questions throughout the process. =PROS= *Ceremony and reception spaces felt completely separate from the golf course *Overnight parking included *String lighting at both the entrance and outdoor areas was included *Extensive menu customization with premium upgrades that were not commonly offered elsewhere, including caviar and oysters *Beautifully designed bar setup *Gorgeous fireside patio space *Flexible dessert options *Reasonably priced meals for vendors and children *Complimentary soft holds with 24 hours to make a decision =CONS= *Ceremony site felt somewhat bare aside from the well maintained lawn *Bridal and groom suites were on the smaller side, with bathrooms located separately *Chivari chairs required an additional setup fee *Cocktail hour catering was limited to in house options *Reception space felt somewhat cramped for a guest count of 150 =NOTES= *The parking lot was quite full during our consultation, though we were told it typically clears out later in the day *Only four restroom stalls for guests, though renovations are reportedly planned in the near future Overall, this remained one of our strongest contenders. Had we been bigger golf enthusiasts, this venue may very well have won us over. The package felt highly inclusive, and there were numerous thoughtful details that set it apart from other venues we toured. However, with our larger guest count, the indoor reception space felt a bit tight and ultimately gave us some hesitation. Even so, there was a lot to like here, particularly for couples seeking an intimate setting with a polished, all inclusive experience.

Staff makes the day better, from clubhouse to starter to cart staff, always a great experience. Correction on prior review, golf carts DO have coolers with ice, so bring your water and soda. GPS on carts matches my Garmin, so take that as good news too. If you're lucky, you'll catch an afternoon where smashburgers are grilled to order on the patio, big win! Pace of play runs 4 1/2 hours, very nice.

The fairways, greens, and tee boxes were all well maintained and enjoyable to play on. The layout made for a fun round and felt worth the money. That said, the driving range was very disappointing. It looked pretty neglected, almost like it hadn't been properly maintained in a long time. The mats were worn out and in rough shape, and a lot of the range balls were dirty and even cracked, which took away from the warm-up experience. The golf carts were older, but they were still functional and got the job done getting from hole to hole. The bathrooms, however, also weren't great and had a strong unpleasant smell, which could definitely use attention. Overall, despite a few noticeable drawbacks in the facilities outside the course itself, I would still recommend it as a solid value option if you're mainly there to play a round of golf rather than use the practice amenities.
