He wanted to stop by then but, I was already involved in other plans. On Monday, he followed up and asked if he could stop by. I never heard back from any of the other 4 companies. After reviewing my property, we decided that we would completely sod the front yard which required 2 pallets, grind a number of stumps out and trim the 2 big trees that were in much need of trimming. In this day and age unfortunately service does not seem the same as it used to be years ago. Jeoff owner of North Dallas Tree & Sod was very informative when we called and asked about his services. He came to the house, measured everything and gave us a quote. We shopped around and his prices were the best. The best part of the story is this company EXCEEDED our expectations!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! This company does poor work. The website says they have a 9 step process or something but the results speak for themselves. The grass planted was brown and already has dead spots. The yard was NOT LEVELED so we still have places that pool water which will kill the grass and high spots where the mower chops dirt. I paid $5000 cash for my yard to be tilled, leveled, graded, treated, and sodded. I dealt with Bob Girot who upsold me from St. Augustine to Zoysia and this Zoysia is trash. Brown, and patchy. It's hard to see the low spots in the pictures, but the green grass that's thriving is in high spots and all the brown are low spots they didnt properly level and fill. I reached out to Bob Girot the next day via email about the brown spots and bogs left in my yard but was ghosted. Had I been home during the process I would have refused to pay for this job as is. Reached out to this company for an estimate by text as instructed by their voicemail. Company responded asking for my info, then became completely nonresponsive after I replied. I replied a second time and still no response. So even though I never got the opportunity to hire them, I definitely can't recommend them based on their poor communication skills. I am extremely happy with the speedy service I received from North Dallas Tree & Sod. I had trees and bushes that were very overgrown, disproportionate, killing my grass due to shade and just plain ugly. The crew came out, listened to my concerns, educated me regarding growth of trees and grass and then trimmed everything up, eliminated unwanted trees and bushes, cleaned up and removed the jungle of debris and simply turned my ugly yard into one of the best looking on the block! I will definitely be calling on North Dallas Tree & Sod for my annual tree trimming from now on! But wait, it gets even better! A landscaping company that also builds fences! At the time of my tree trimming I mentioned I would be purchasing a new fence soon. To my surprise the owner said he could build exactly what I wanted regarding height and a few custom designs to my desired new fence. While Geoff was knowledgeable and friendly, the poor quality zoysia sod he planted at my new house was infested with weeds. Zoysia was recommended because it would've made my lawn low maintenance, but it's now a high maintenance lawn due to all the weeds. I've had sod planted at my last house that was high quality and weed free. I now have the ugliest lawn on the block. I'm highly disappointed in the quality of sod planted at my house. Since he doesn't guarantee his product, it was a waste of money. I feel ripped off. Never again will I use this company. read more

I purchased my home just over a year ago. As a newbie homeowner, there is much that I do not know. For instance, I did not consider that trees get bigger over time. Which is weird, because I am fully aware of the fact that pretty much the one thing trees do is GROW. It's, like...their one job. Despite this knowledge, it came as a shock to me when one day I looked up and lo! A giant tree branch was growing from my tree clear across to my neighbor's roof! And POOF -- another branch was pressing down on top on my patio, threatening to knock it down at the next good gust of wind! And a tree had overgrown the alley! And another was WAY outside of city code in front of the house! LIKE MAGIC! As I like to keep my neighbors happy and the city happy and my patio upright, I needed help fast. I found North Dallas Tree & Sod on a neighborhood "recommended provider" list, and I called them at about 5:30 pm on a Monday. Spoke to a very nice guy who told me he could come out to take a look that very same evening. Two hours later, there he was. He gave me a very reasonable quote, made a recommendation for cabling a splayed-out tree in my backyard (which is something I had actually been thinking about), and said he could have a crew out in two days. Sure enough, two days later I came home to find a well-groomed frontage, a navigable alleyway, and a backyard tree that was no longer touching my house or my neighbor's, and would likely not be doing so thanks to solid cabling. The crew had cleaned up very well, and had even done me the favor of going around the house and trimming back some smaller trees for me, too! I've still got a lot to learn about owning a house.
