We began using North Georgia Eye Care three years ago. On each visit Marcie Fambrough, the receptionist, has been short and curt almost to the point of rudeness but we liked Dr. Cara Robinson and assumed Marcie would have a good day at some point. We purchased glasses and contacts from this office even though they were overpriced compared to online sources. My nine year old son wanted to try contacts since he is beginning to play sports and wanted to try an alternative to glasses, so on our last visit we asked if we could sample some disposable lenses to see if that might work for him. After being treating as a nuisance once again by Marcie, we had an exam with Dr. Robinson. I told her our wishes and for some reason she acted more irritated with every question we asked and said he may be too young to try contacts because the normal age is 12-13. When I asked if it was an option she said it was, but seemed to question again: "Why?" For sports. "Does he practice adequate hygiene to have contacts?" We were asking for disposable so there was no cleaning involved, and my son is meticulous about his personal cleanliness. "Other kids at school are dirty" We homeschool. "Why did we not want UV protection?" I personally had a reaction to UV coating in contacts and the option was available so MAY WE TRY IT PLEASE? The interrogation came to the point of me asking , "Is there a reason this request is so difficult today?" In which she responded to my son "I am ultimately liable for your eye health - you don't want to lose your eye, do you?" Terrified, he went into another room to learn how to insert his contacts. The employee had him wash his hands three times. "Oops, you touched your hair, nope, you touched your face..." to the point where he was now in tears and wanted to forget the whole thing. I have worn contacts for 35 years with no issues and have never experienced this type of treatment from any office or optician. The assumed positive out of this experience was that we had paid for our son's contact prescription. After requesting this from this office, we were told there is no prescription for him even though we paid specifically for a contact exam. I am disappointed and disgusted with the lack of professionalism of your office. I would like to receive what we paid for in good faith or refunded our money. read more

I had an exam with North Georgia Eye Care this summer and had nothing but a positive experience! The exams were thorough, the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the doctor and staff were willing to answer and address any concerns that I had. Horrible, just horrible. I've been through a lot of things in life, but this just was the worst, experience in my whole... entire life. Unethical business practices, and up coding. The issue was over frames, the tech quoted one price, and charged something completely different, as well as will other services. Even doubled checked my coverage with insurance. I also called about the issue left a message, and no tried to return my call to even go over the issue, or straighten anything out. Although the office called me to say the frames were in and that I need to make an appointment to pick them up. I did go pick them up, after filing a claim with insurance about the issue. It gets worst though, just my gut said, just drop by and pick them up. So since they were for my child, brought the child with me. This was a necessity, and I was already upset about being lied to my face in front of minor. So go in to pick them up and things just felt off. So the owner goes to get these frames which my kid adored cause they were not only a necessity, but a gift for their bday. So I held my tongue, and said nothing. She goes to grab the frames, ok fine. Then says let me show you the transition on them. I'm like what? I am literally wearing transitions, and I have only been in the building for a couple of mins, so my frames were in the process of transitioning. So I said nothing, the owner obviously thinks were fools. So fine, I will just stand here while she does this song and dance. She walks off to the room behind us where the frames were kept, and at this moment were stand in the room where you try on the frames. So she came back in the room, and has to demo how dark the frames are, stating the fit and look of the frames are sport (that's reason my kid picked them for the durability) anyways.. So we leave, I get my kids prescription, and cancel all future appointments. Still not saying a word. Also not leaving a review until all services are final. I just had this gut feeling, something doesn't feel right. Especially with the whole thing about transitioning the frames. Which never in my whole life as long as I have owned transition glasses has anyone done that, cause it's unnecessary, and you're about to find out why. So we couldn't have been gone but possible 30-45mins. When my kid notices fractures, which was thought to be like the design in the frames, because the frames had design patten in them. He goes to close then, and they fall apart. I'm like, in disbelief because I'm exhausted, and I've had a long. Though still, this is my kid, and these frames were expensive name brand, so they shouldn't have broken like this. So.. I return and ask to speak to a manager. So the receptionist directs us back to the exact same room where you try on frames, again. We wait, patiently. The owner comes in and before I completely finish my statement, this lady has attitude, and is rude. I simply just question how do these expensive frames just break? She instantly accused me, and my child of breaking them. Then states I'm not going to be petty like you. Also their are customers in this office as well. So I stand there and just let this lady, treat me in the most distasteful manner I have ever been treated, and she's a professional. This is all happening in front of my child as well. So this lady is still going on, being rude. Stating that I was petty due to the fact I left my review after I received our purchase. That which she states was nasty. My review was tasteful, and precise. Which she didn't like. The owner never tried to make things right, though still continued to behave unprofessional. So I just stood there, not speaking. She went on to say, I will just give your money back. I was like ok, and in my head thinking, never even said anything about a refund, just asked how did the expensive frames break? Then she's says well I hope your happy with yourself? After she returns from the back of the building with a check. Then swears at me, Karmas a.. you know. The only thing I said to her was, not for me, you shouldn't lie to your patients. I left the office and closed the door politely. One thing I don't believe in is behaving foolishly. Though I do believe in taking the high road. Especially in front of my child, a minor, which I am supposed to be a role model to. So.. if someone behaves like this.. and their angry cause they were called out. Something is up. So my assumption is, the frames, she broke them when she took them to back to so called make them transition. This is because of the ones my son had were broken. This was most likely done, So she could blame us. She probably would have still done the same thing if I would have made an appointment to pick up the frames. She just would have had more time to do it. The thing is someone that has a professional title, doesn't behave this way. All I have to say is.. just don't. Although they state their businss hours on Friday are 8:30-12:00, when i went to have my glasses adjusted I was told that in fact no technicians or optometrist work on Friday and there is only a clerical person there to make appointments, answer phone, etc. In other words, they employ someone to tell you after you arrive that they are not actually open for any sort of optometry service on Friday. read more
