North Harbor Bistro is a nice little Chinese restaurant in Cypress. I just love the little elegant decor of spots like this, kitschy Chinese decor, elegant tiny chandeliers and thick wood tables. I've had a number of good meals here over the years. Unfortunately this time it wasn't great. First off, the fried wantons they bring to the table were stale and tasted like they'd been fried in old oil. I like places that bring free stuff but don't bring something if it isn't good. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and get hot and sour soup. It was a good spice/hot but Not sure about the sour. It seemed to just be hot. For my entree I had Shrimp with Garlic sauce and white rice,. The veggies were crunchy and fresh. The shrimp was good but they didn't have that crisp snap in the bite. The sauce was sweet and garlicky. The cheese puff was very creamy, batter was okay not the best. It's just not my style. My wife had the wan ton soup. It had a good tasty broth and the wanton had a good thick wrap with a nice flavor. She didn't like her Orange Chicken. I tasted it and the chicken was okay, but the sauce was too dark and heavy. I just like my orange chicken lighter and with more orange- y- ness? She got fried rice and I thought it wasn't flavorful enough. It tasted like white rice that was coated with soy sauce and not fried enough. My daughter had a bowl of Egg Drop soup. It was very thick and eggy. The corn was a surprising addition. It was okay but would have benefited from some chili oil, which wasn't provided and we didn't ask for. Overall, the entire experience was disappointing. The service was good but the food was mediocre, the restaurant was kind of warm bordering on hot and the table felt sticky. Don't think I'll be back and that's a sad thing. This is just a starter review as I want to go back and try more. I ordered to go so straight to the point. Upon arrival I was greeted with a friendly welcome and they politely ask how they can help. Great interaction with the staff. Ordered the Singapore noodles and when I opened it I was thinking oh there is a curry smell to it. Didn't know Singapore noodles had a seasoning like such. Doesn't matter, it was delicious! The noodle and protein ratio was spot on. Good amount of egg, chicken and shrimp. The shrimp was even well seasoned! The flavor on the orange chicken is actually really good but the quality of meat they use could be better. The chicken is sponge like and almost tastes like cheap freezer breaded chicken from the grocery store. But it's covered in their sauce which again has a good flavor. We had a great time. Small spot but a gem in Bridgeland. The service was on point and accommodating. The food was really good. We would definitely come back another time. Was hungry one night and ordered this restaurant on Uber eats. Arrived hot, fresh, and perfectly packaged!! Was very impressed. Spent about $50 for two with delivery. This is my newest go to!!! We got the Cream Cheese Crab Puffs, Chicken Eggrolls, Wanton Soup, Fried rice, Orange Chicken and Chicken Lo Mein. Crab Puffs: Great portion. Sauce was so good. I didn't like the amount of cream cheese. Too much, not enough crab. Texture was great! 6/10 Chicken Eggrolls: very vegetable stuffed but in the best way. So crispy and delicious. 8/10 Wanton Soup: Arrived hot and savory. SO flavorful and delicious. 10/10 Orange Chicken: I ordered it hot & spicy! If you're looking for some solid chinese food near cypress, this is your spot. There weren't many people sitting inside of the restaurant, but there were a lot of people that were coming to pick up. It's always a great sign. One thing that caught my eye was the singapore chicken and shrimp noodles. Of course, I had to try it out! It always sells me whenever they have that spicy pepper symbol listed next to the dish. My Jam!!! They give you a great portion with a great amount of full pieces of chicken.. However, they only toss in maybe three shrimp in the entire dish. Was a bit disappointed on that, but overall, the flavor was solid. I have to try their ribs next time. I ordered on line on their website for pick up. I went in and they asked for the last 4 digits of my phone number. They looked and said it wasn't ready yet. I waited 40 minutes. They asked again. This time they couldn't find it. I showed them email receipt. They did not hear and said not their fault. Guy said he was just server and not responsible. They would not make the order. Ordered Takeout from here the other day. The summer rolls are simple but they're tasty & refreshing. I just wish there was more peanut sauce! I recommend getting the Dinner Combos, each of the appetizers are so good. Im a big fan of the shrimp, it's fried to perfection! Not usually into chicken egg rolls but their's has as nice meat to veg ratio in my opinion. The egg drop soup is comforting, it was my favorite of the 3 my family ordered and would be great for a sick day. I guess this restaurant just wasn't for me, they did have a few people there when we arrived and they had multiple people picking up to go food. So this is just simply my opinion because obviously others did like it. I ordered the Hot & Sour Soup I did not like it at all I tried eating it but the smell was overwhelming. It's an acquired taste for sure and I would never order it again. We also had an appetizer which was an egg roll, wonton and fried shrimp this was the best of everything I had I actually ate all of it. My entree was the sweet and sour pork with fried rice, I've had better at other places I didn't like the rice the pork was ok I think I was just over it because the soup was just horrible for my tastebuds. North Harbor Bistro is one of the better Chinese food restaurants in Cypress with tasty food and great service. If you go, I recommend the dinner specials which include soup and several appetizers. And for lunch, you get a big helping of Chinese cuisine with soup & egg roll on their "Lunch Traditions" menu (11am-3pm). Our favorite meals are Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, Sesame & Orange chicken, and the chicken fried rice. My son likes the BBQ spare ribs and we all like their pork dumplings. Never going back!!!! I've order from this place almost every week for a year. The food is usually perfect!! Tonight a rude lady took my order over the phone, she was rushing. I clearly always say "meat well done" and usually it's printed on the receipt. Tonight my meat was undercooked. I took the food back. The cook got angry , the lady who took my order got angry (never apologized). However the young man cashier recognized me and knows that I always request "meat well done." The lady went into the kitchen screaming in their language because I brought the food back. Still she never apologized. The young man cashiering apologized because even the receipt didn't say "well done" as it usually does. The attitude and rudeness is why I probably will never go back. Great little Chinese restaurant. I have a gluten allergy so Chinese food is usually never an option. My husband called ahead and asked if they can make some of the dishes gluten free and they said they're able to make almost all of them gluten free! My meal was delicious and didn't affect me at all.
