Disappointed with this restaurant primarily because of the menu selection. I had reviewed the menu before hand so I had an idea of what was available. Susan M joined me for dinner Sat evening at 530p. We shared the calamari, WAY too much breading, diminished the flavor, just not good. Susan had the Lasagna, she said it was very good and good portion so she got a 'go' box. I had the salmon which was a nice size portion. Not too keen on the broccolini side but the flavor was good. The service from Heidy was good, the kitchen was slow getting our appetizer out, almost 10 minutes waiting on it. Our server came out THREE times to tell us the calamari would be out any minute. It WAS NOT! The BIG issue for me was parking. The 'go Ballantyne' website indicates Valet parking is available. It is NOT! Very misleading and frustrating when you see it in writing and then show up and learn it's not available. Then you have to find and figure out the parking situation. The Hostess at the restaurant said they HAD Valet at one time, but no longer. I also thought the ambience was NOT true to how it's described. Very LOUD, dudes in cut off jeans and tee shirts, kids running around unattended and parents chasing them. We had a group of ladies next to our 'two top' who were loud & cackaling through our entire meal. NOT what I call 'family hospitality'. This place is exactly the reason why I try to avoid the large FRANCHISE restaurants. Then the bill was so HIGH, way more than what is reasonable for what we had, OVER $80.00 not including tip, a diet coke was $4.75, they charge MORE for the exact same item on the dinner menu than the lunch menu, what's that about? This is a Franchise owned by the Cheese Cake Factory so in my opinion, they push 'the MARKETING' message rather than deliver on the substance which is real service, quality food and excellent atmosphere. Got to PAY that high rent at the BOWL. They gave me NO reason to return and I WON'T be returning and recommend you find other options for Italian. It's all hype and little substance. I had the beef carpaccio as an appetizer. Nice and thin with a great sauce but the meat itself was very soft and almost room temperature. Not my favorite. The capers on top were terrible - I think they were over-fried and the prevailing flavor was bitter instead of briny. Served with 2 small pieces of bread. I would not order it again. The seasonal vegetable salad was incredible. Tons of veggies and a great green goddess dressing. The cost to add chicken was ridiculously expensive for what turned out to be some hand shredded rotisserie chicken and not freshly grilled. Mu husband really enjoyed his spicy rigatoni and sausage pasta. I would probably go ahead but truthfully, the food is overpriced for what you get. We were able to enjoy the $25 holiday menu. It came with a small plate and entree. NY wife and I had a tasty drink which was about $15. We both had the meatball small plate and that was so so so delicious . My wife enjoyed her entree which was the chicken parmesan and pasta. However, I do not feel the same way about my meal. I was so excited to try this spot, but was disappointed in the end. The service was very slow, even for a Sunday evening. In a way, it seemed like we were forgotten, even though the restaurant wasn't overly busy. The music was also extremely loud (I feel old for even saying that) and not fitting the "vibe" of the space. The food was also a miss for most of my family. My son got the grilled cheese, and it was cold cheese between a garlic roll. I'm not sure it ever touched the grill. My daughter got the kid's spaghetti, and the marina sauce was cloyingly sweet. She did not want to eat it, and I didn't blame her at all. My harvest salad was fine...I just wish there more of the toppings than 3-4 cubes of butternut squash. The pine nuts and chunks of cheese were delightful though. FWIW don't waste your money on sea salt caramel gelato it's tasteless (literally) if you order the $15 gelato do yourself a favor order the chocolate flavor . Atmosphere is nice. Until you're on the ENCLOSED patio and someone lights up a cigarette. I don't recommend sitting on the patio unless cigarette smoke doesn't bother you AT ALL. Sit only inside . My first time here and I went on my bday. Decided to sit at the bar, let them know it was my bday and was told I can get a free dessert. I ordered the short rib sandwich and it was sooooooo good. My fiancé and I visited North Italia for late lunch during a hot Sunday afternoon. We ordered the lasagna and pollo frito. Both orders did not look like what we expected for a typical "lasagna " and "pollo frito." I had a great time over the holidays with friends at North Italia. First, let me say that they validate parking - that is important at The Bowl! I went with a group of- 7 of us total - and we were all happy with our meals. They especially shined with great seasonal cocktails! Perfect date night or girls night spot, great addition to the Bowl at Ballantyne. There is parallel parking and a big parking lot- some costs money but I noticed north Italia had a sign that they validate up to 3 hours. We had a 6:30 appointment on a Sunday for dinner and good thing we did because it was very busy, it didn't look like there was much room for walk ins, and there was really no place to stand and wait inside the restaurant. The restaraunt itself is trendy but also romantic in the perfect way! The service was amazing, loved our server and the food came out pretty quick! They have a full bar, including a mocktail menu. And they make all their syrups in house, so there was nothing artificial or any food dyes in them- this is the first place I found that has this since being pregnant- so amazing!! The mocktails were $10. We got the bread and olive oil appetizer and it was amazing! But the bread was toasted and had a little charcoal taste to it. I got the pesto chicken pasta, I thought it was good- my husband thought it was amazing! He got the meatball ragu and liked it too! Came here for a cocktail and it did not disappoint. Arrived on an early Friday evening and it was pretty packed, so highly recommend a reservation! Luckily, found seats at the bar and enjoyed our cocktails. Went with our Charlotte family, total of seven seats, for my wife's birthday. It was our first time here and we are delighted with our experience. Excellent menu and several unique items that needed definition from the servers. Fresh house-made pastas, salads, appetizers, a Chef's Board with a little bit of everything, pizzas and nice entrees. Italian meatballs appetizer was good. Firm, meaty and tasty. Two pizzas were ordered and we found them rather blah. Cheese was artfully done slices, but not enough to taste in the pies. Tomato sauce lacked flavor. Puffy dough edges were a nice authentic touch, but the pizzas were not that great. Mains were excellent and different. I had the Lumache alla Norcina ($23) which were like large snail shells in a yummy sauce of fennel sausage, asparagus, grana padano crema, herb breadcrumbs, and black truffles. Highly recommended. Wife had Spicy Rigatoni Vodka ($23), consisting of Italian sausage, crispy pancetta, shaved garlic, torn basil, and grana padano. It was really spicy, but not so much that it hurt. Spice was simply flavorful. Very tasty, not like plain old rigatoni in tomato sauce. The Bolognese paste, marked as a House Specialty ($24), was with traditional meat sauce, pappardelle, grana padano, wild oregano, and extra virgin olive oil. Our son loved it. Daughter-in-law had Tortelloni al Pomodoro ($22) and liked the simple tomato sauce, burro fuso, heirloom cherry tomato, torn basil and grana padano. Their grana padano is similar to Parmesan cheese. Good wine list and bar service. Interior is cozy and you can watch the kitchen in action, depending on your location. Will be returning for another meal sometime. read more

Thought this was a solid spot for being a chain. The atmosphere was very inviting and vibrant, but not super loud and even our large party of 8 could have a conversation without having to yell. Service was very friendly and accommodating for some food allergies (the manager even came out to be sure). We had some apps like the bruschetta, beef carpaccio, and burrata. Everything was flavorful and had a good presentation, nothing over the top or missing the mark. For my main I went with the Lasagna Bianca al Forno, it was good but I wish I had gotten something with more elements as the dish itself ate very one note. Don't get me wrong, it was a tasty note, but after a few bites I wished I had gotten another dish for my first time. Or maybe I just don't like a white sauce lasagna as much as I do a red sauce. Reservations on a Friday or the weekend are a must because this place in The Bowl area is popular! The ambience is bright and airy. We shared a bunch of things as a group of 5: Kale salad, Caciao e peppe rice balls, Buratta, Rigatoni with sausage and vodka sauce and two pizzas. Aside from whoever burnt the dogshit out of the bread for my sandwich and decided "fuck it its to go food anyway". The food was great. Lots of people on the weekend, get a reservation. They are definitely worth a visit if you dont want to go to the one in downtown. They have high tops , booths, A bar, your typical americanized food place. We came here for a team lunch. Unfortunately the service was slow we waited for almost 15 minutes for our server to take drinks and offer water. We had to ask the host to find our server. Thankfully my coworker ordered a soup at the time of ordering her drink and it came out in literally a nano second. But then we waited another 15 minutes for our appetizer -- the truffle garlic bread. I didnt taste much of the truffle oil and not a fan of their cream topping. Without the cream, the bread was fire. The bread and meatballs were good, nothing to write home about, but good. I had the salmon with pesto risotto as my entree. It was good, the broccolini was bomb.
