Gosh we love this place and all the specials change thru the seasons always something new to try, my favorites are always the pizza and chciken marsla, crab cake are divine, really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. First time in and mixed reviews.. Started with a side salad which is just fine. I mean it's a salad. I went with the Chicken Marsala which wasn't bad. Chicken was hot, good sauce and mushrooms. As a side I decided to do the Risotto which wasn't great also not bad either. We also tried "Louis Favorite" pizza which was not good. The sauce was very bland and the pizza dough was also very bland. Now the crust was thin and crispy so positive there. Will probably skip this one in the future. It was just ok. read more

Sister Schubert rolls with olive oil to start doesn't work. Need to serve a nice, warm baguette. My wife had lasagna and it was good, but needed fresh parm, as well as the Caesar Salad. I had Chicken Marsala. The Marsala was excellent, but the spaghetti noodles had pasta sauce on them, and served on the same plate. They do not go together, nor taste good mixed. Service was great, and flavors were good. We will go back. However I will make sure they leave pasta sauce off my Marsala. read more

I live in right near downtown Waxhaw and love going out to our local restaurants! Unfortunately I have given Capriccis three separate tries because I really wanted to like it, but the experience has been consistently disappointing. I went with a friend, dined in with my husband and just ordered pickup yesterday. I wish it were different, but I cannot go back. The biggest issue is the pricing compared to portion sizes. I don't need huge portion sizes, but the food is honestly some of the smallest portions I have ever seen. That wouldn't be a problem if they dropped their price point $5-$7, but for $20 and $30 pasta dishes, the for the price point left me feeling like I paid far more than what the meal was actually worth. That being said, if the food itself was great, it might not be an issue. But the food is just not on par with other Italian spots in Waxhaw. It's not terrible, but it's definitely not memorable, and certainly not worth the cost. There are simply way better Italian options in the area (Bistro de Antonio) that deliver both quality and value, so I don't see myself returning. I don't mind paying for premium, but I want to enjoy my food and here that just hasn't been the case. read more

Their sanitation rating is a 93 for anyone who is curious. I would not eat here again, it is very overpriced for what you're getting. The Cast Iron Glazed Brussel Sprouts were horrible. They were so mushy I couldn't even eat them. I've had cast iron glazed brussels sprouts elsewhere and they were firm with a little char. These taste like they had been soaking in balsamic vinegar all day. If you can mash a brussel sprout flat with a plastic fork it's trash. One star is generous. The pizza was good and a 4. First, I should say we noted the decline in review scores prior to making reservations, but we wanted to go because we had a good experience from a few years back. When making the reservation, we were informed there was a change in ownership within the past year or so. Upon arrival (party of two) they admitted they had lost our reservation, but no worries. We were seated at a table for 4 between 2 families with loud, misbehaving children. We asked to be moved to a table for two, and we were. There was a notable sewage smell in the restaurant - I asked about this and was told that they knew about a problem with a restroom and were going to get it fixed. The restaurant is very, very loud. There were several young, very stressed, and noticeably confused young ladies working - the atmosphere was uncomfortable. I ordered the lasagna, which I had enjoyed on my prior visit. No bread came to the table. No bread came with the lasagna. I asked for bread, and what came was not homemade and not good. The sauce on the lasagna was dark red, obviously not home made, and very sweet. The lasagna was warm, not hot. My dining partner ordered a pizza. It was bad. Running out of room here, but the food and overall experience at this restaurant is not worth your time or money, at any cost. read more

Great eggplant parmigiana... ok pasta dishes... excellent service from Melanie. The atmosphere is ok... nice restaurant, but very close seating and crowded. Hard to talk... extremely noisy and a bit chaotic. Enjoyed ourselves and the staff was very nice to my mom (celebrating her 80th). Had some extra items on our bill that I didn't order, but paid it without comment (again, good service and veryyyy busy... not worth it at that point). This place was wonderful and charming. I was a part of a large group and we were well taken care of and our food came quickly. Our group did have a few minor issues, but they were handled quickly. My wife and I stopped by for some wine an appetizers and luckily hit it at the right time where apps were half price so we were excited. First and foremost, the service here is spectacular. The staff greeted us immediately as we walked in the door and quickly seated us. Melissa promptly came over to our table to get our drink orders. She was knowledgeable about the wines and was very helpful. Her name was Melissa and if the rating was for her service it would be 5/5 however, the food was not the same caliber. We ordered a caprese dip, meatballs and ricotta and Italian Bruschetta. I like the sauce and had nothing negative to say. It's a hearty sauce with chunky tomatoes and good flavors. The meatballs with ricotta came out kind of weird. Again, the sauce was fantastic but the meatballs were almost room temperature but slightly under. There was ricotta on top that was really cold. I wasn't expecting it to be melted but not cold. There was what was supposed to be melted cheese on top but it wasn't complexly melted, about half melted. We have heard some improvements were made since our previous visit so we thought we'd give Capricci's another try. (We usually go three times before we eliminate a restaurant for good.) So glad we did give it another try. We've been back twice and looking forward to more visits. Both times the service was excellent. Friendly, attentive and we left with such a nice vibe about the place. I had Chicken Parm which was a decent sized portion compared to my husband's first experience. The cutlet was a bit too thick but it was flavored, breaded and cooked nicely. Moist and tender just as it should be. I also had the Brussel Sprouts which was disappointing. Too much balsamic. My husband had Eggplant Parmesan and LOVED it. Thinly sliced, evenly cooked, delicious sauce. A nicely sized serving. Our most recent visit we started with Aroncini. DELICIOUS! So light and bursting with flavor. Can't wait to go back and have them again. The best I've ever had! Although this was a 'Special' so it might not be available regularly. Shame. We both had the Eggplant Parmesan this time and enjoyed it immensely. Service was excellent. Such an improvement from our first experience. Everything has improved. It's nice that this restaurant finally has more conforming hours. They have a vigorous 'take out' business as well and it's easy to see why. It's a much improved eatery. read more

The tomato sauce has a wonderful taste, complex with a slight spicy hint. I really like it, but the portion sizes are kind of small. The dinner salad is small and the amount of spaghetti I got with my spaghetti and meatballs, two meatballs and not even a quarter pound of spaghetti was small. Hey owner spaghetti is one dollar a pound. You could put a lot more spaghetti on the plate for a little bit of money and people will love it. 1/4 lb of spaghetti and only two meatballs $20. On our way home, I was starving, I had my husband stop to grab some to go food. I have driven past this restaurant many times, and this was my first time. I ordered chicken piccata for myself with brussel sprouts (opted for the vegan option because I don't eat pork) and sautéed spinach and tomatoes $19.95. The blackened salmon for my husband with sautéed spinach and tomatoes and Parmesan risotto (as suggested by the server) $23.95. My son had the Three Cheese Ravioli with Caesar salad $18.95. Once I got into my car, I checked yo make sure everything ordered was there. I have to say, the bags felt light. The food was well received. My husband said his salmon and risotto were delicious and well seasoned. My chicken piccata was good. The sides were good. The brussel sprouts tasted a little burnt. My son said the three cheese ravioli was good too. My son expressed his concerns with the prices (he is a young adult). We all thought the portions were small. No bread with order. Walked in on a Thursday night excited to try a new restraunt. Supposed to find only a few patrons and no one at the bar. Say at the bar and waited for close to 20 minutes. Never had anyone welcome us, say hello, or anything. Yet there were 6 servers Five of whom were leaning against the area close to the bar where they prep deserts and get food for tables from the kitchen. Three times servers went into the bar area for ice. We even had eye contact from the servers. The restaurant said it closed (per the front door) in an hour and fifteen minutes). Walked out and NOTHING from the staff. Walked a few doors down into another restaurant. PACKED OUT, full bar (found two seats) and the staff was amazing... . Apparently capriccios wants to go out of business??? If so, they have that service nailed!!! read more

Back again with another couple. They were impressed, as well as we continue to be. Great menu, tonight was half off a bottle of wine...a real deal, and we were early. Early is good as Capricci's get crowded quick. Our reservation turned out to be not necessary on Tuesday night, and we were the third table seated. Waitress told us that they had a booking for 15 and another for 12, plus another 4. We ordered as the 15 arrived, so our meals would not be hung up on a busy kitchen. Food came out great, as usual. Service sincere, natural and on point. Early will also net you a close parking place. Capricci's is a gem for simple, but good, Italian cooking. read more

This is a very nice casual Italian restaurant with that very small town atmosphere. While shopping we noticed the restaurant was pretty busy so we opted to keep this as a special event place where we would make reservations. We visited capriccios on a sat afternoon at 3:30. Our reservations were for 4pm but the place was empty so we went on in. It was a very chilly morning so each time the door opened freezing cold air would rush in. I didn't see any heaters and since this is an old building a draft must be the usual feeling. The food was very good. I had the chicken Marsala with a side of spaghetti. The Portion size of the Marsala was a little small I thought considering it did not come with pasta. The side of spaghetti was a good portion but the Mary's sauce seemed to be more of a tomato soup base than pasta sauce. Overall I would go back but not if I needed a meal to fill me up as after we left I stopped and picked up a slice of pizza down the street. Love the atmosphere, service was great, but not a great value for the experience. The cheesy garlic bread was very delicious. read more

We attended a restaurant group event with over 40 patrons. The staff was attentive and friendly, the owner greeted each table during the meal. His recipes are his family favorites all cooked from scratch, nothing frozen. There is plenty to choose from the menu from all typical Italian appetizers, salads, pasta, beef, poultry, seafood etc. My dining mate ordered spaghetti and meatballs, I ordered the special house salad and special if the day, steak and shrimp over mashed cauliflower. Others ordered, eggplant parmesan, and seafood dish. Bread and olive and red sauce on the table. Everything was plated nicely, came out hot, nice portions and reasonably priced. Food very tasty. I saw what others ordered and everything looked appetizing. I certainly would return and try another menu choice. read more

I had high hopes for the pasta and "Mary sauce", figuring if the sauce had a name it had to be something special. It was bad. Burnt, overcooked and strangely fruity. Absolutely dreadful. Apart from some cringey attempts at Italian on the walls, I found the ambiance nice. Our waitress was very helpful as well. No complaints about the service. And as much as I've griped about the food, the tiramisu and cannoli were quite good. This would make a great, comfortable Italian place if the food were any good. Cut the menu in half. This is a based off of a catering order for 20 people that occurred last Friday. Co Owner Ted was an amazing help as we needed to cater food for a group of 20+ including kids before we headed to a cocktail prior while we were in town for a wedding. Ted was helpful and made some suggestions on what the crowd would like so we went with the following: *Bruschetta w/ tomato, fresh basil, tossed and marinated, on a toasted round baguette *Chicken Parmesan Over Thin Spaghetti W/ House made Mary's Sauce their Grandmothers slow cooked sauce and Fresh Mozzarella. *Penne Alla Vodka Tossed w/ Broccoli *Gluten Free margarita pizza W/ fresh mozzarella, plum Tomatoes and fresh basil *Fancy Mixed Greens, black olives, pepperoncini's , picked red onion, grape tomatoes, carrots tossed in our house made white balsamic vinaigrette. All was amazing and all was delivered 15 mins earlier than expected which made things great! The overall consensus was the food was great, the Bruschetta was fresh and packed well so there was no mushyness when traveling, the Parm was another hit as the sauce was a bit sweet and a nice compliment and the Penne Alla Vodka was another hit as the guests loved the broccoli add on. I look forward to actually dining there next time I head out that way. Continued success team! read more

Cute Italian spot in quaint downtown Waxhaw. I read lots about the anticipation of this restaurant opening on my neighborhood's Facebook page so I was eager to try it. I didn't receive the warmest greeting at the door by the hostess but our server made up for it with her attentiveness and pleasant demeanor. We were quickly seated because there were not many people; we went on a Wednesday night. Seemed like a few groups were regulars. The decor is nice and you can see into the kitchen. You somewhat get the feel of being in a restaurant in Italy, not that I've been...yet. You can tell there are family members running things. I did like that feeling! I did select the wrong night to go, the night before my annual physical, so I didn't get to try any real pasta dishes. I created my own pizza despite mixed reviews on Yelp. I added shrimp (a pizza with shrimp just sounded amazing), fresh mozzarella, arugula and white sauce. The pizza is on a very thin, almost cracker-like crust which was ok. The shrimp were seasoned to perfection. I'm not quite sure that the mozzarella was really fresh mozzarella, as advertised. But nonetheless, the pizza was good. My friend enjoyed her salmon and broccoli. No room tonight for dessert that might mess up my labs tomorrow. I will try this spot again, but I'm not in a real big hurry. read more

We wanted Italian food so we ordered Chicken Parmesan and Eggplant Parmesan for takeout. Sides of choice were Brussels sprouts and Cesar salad for the Chicken Parmesan and green beans and spinach and tomatoes. After I placed my order I received a call stating they were out of Brussels sprouts. I told Regan I'd prefer mashed potatoes. While waiting for my order I witnessed a couple at a nearby table complain about not receiving the correct order so I made a note to check mine before leaving. Reagan then notified me that they were out of cheesecake. I asked her what was popular and she said the chocolate cake. I went with her suggestion. She went back to the kitchen and came back to tell me there was no chocolate cake but they had the golden chocolate cake. I opted for that. Once my order came out I went through and looked to make sure we had everything. When I opened the Chicken Parmesan it had Brussels sprouts instead of mashed potatoes. I told her it wasn't a full serving so I'm assuming they just threw in whatever was left. Once I got home and prepared to eat I noticed there was no bread and no pasta. Who would have thought to not put pasta with the dishes? My Eggplant Parmesan was ok. The vegetable serving sizes were something I'd serve a toddler. The veggies were put in the same container as the entree and my dish was very watery. I tasted my boyfriend's Chicken Parmesan and it was not good at all. I couldn't even eat it. It was terrible. He was so upset he didn't eat his salad. I called back to the restaurant and spoke with a manager and she explained only dine in patrons get bread (that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard), you're given a choice of 2 sides and I could have chosen pasta as one (ridiculous). She then told me she would adjust our ticket and deduct 25%. She also said she hoped we'd give them another try but that will NEVER happen. Fool me once!!! This is NOT authentic Italian food. If you've had a gastric bypass and have to eat smaller portions this is the place for you because of the portion sizes and the lack of seasoning. read more
