Conveniently located in the heart of Little Falls (not far from the Willowbrook Mall), this modern facility features the latest tech and highly trained professionals to use it. The waiting room is spacious with plenty to entertain (although the waits are never long anyway) and the operatory rooms, sterile and comfy. Ample parking is available in the rear, but there is also a bus stop nearby if public transportation is more your thing. Even better than the office is the people that work for this practice. The entire staff here is warm and welcoming, from the administrators at the front desk to the assistants. Dr. Shahmehdi, who owns the practice, took the time to meet with me (even though I am not his direct patient) during one of my appointments. Dr. Sperling, the pediatric dentist, even struck up a conversation with me after one of my appointments; everyone is so friendly! Dr. Paparella, who has been my attending dentist, has been nothing short of brilliant. Before beginning any procedure--no matter how big or small--she briefly explains what she is going to be doing and why. I feel like I've learned so much about dental care and am much more at ease during procedures. She also has excellent bedside manners, always cognizant of any issues her patients have and does everything in her power to alleviate any concerns. Most importantly, she always takes her time and works meticulously. It is very clear that she takes pride in her work and cares about her patients. The assistants are just as competent and caring. Special shoutout to Nicolle, who assisted Dr. Paparella on my last visit. She was able to use the suction hose without triggering my annoyingly persistent gag reflex. They were both patient throughout my visit, even as I subconsciously started to close my mouth...repeatedly. Nicolle even dabbed my forehead with a paper towel when a drop of water splashed. These little things and attention to detail demonstrate the staff really does care about their patients. Initially, I was informed that the stain removal service would cost $1050 but that I would only have to pay $105 after insurance. I was hesitant due to the fact this was considered cosmetic. I verified this amount multiple times: with the office staff who checked with my insurance companies, the insurance person in the office, and even directly with Dr. Sultan, who reassured me that $105 was the total I would owe. I even confirmed when we returned for the service. However, two weeks after the service was performed, I received a bill for $325.90 When I called the office, they informed me that this was the balance after insurance had paid, meaning I was now out of pocket $430.90 for a service I didn't really want but was CONVINCED to get because they ASSURED me insurance would cover the majority of the cost. After going back and forth with the office I offered to PAY HALF of the unexpected bill, which I thought was FAIR, the office REFUSED, and they are now charging me interest on the outstanding amount. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and feels very misleading. I strongly advise others to be very cautious with this office and Dr Sultan and ensure all costs are clearly outlined and confirmed before agreeing to any additional services. She claimed she had been trying to reach me, which I found questionable since no voicemail or message had ever been left. Without my confirmation, she scheduled another consultation appointment with a different dentist. I decided to proceed despite the lack of communication. During this visit, I realized there had been a change in providers, though no one had informed me of the transition. I saw two different dentists to discuss treatment options and next steps. The plan was for the office to send updated information to my insurance company. Unfortunately, it took nearly two months before I received any update about what was covered and what my payment responsibility would be. Throughout that time, I communicated frequently with Destiny, who was helpful and kept me as informed as possible. However, it was clear that there was a lack of coordination between her and Basima. The day before my appointment, I called for confirmation and spoke with Basima again. She confidently quoted me an out-of-pocket cost, but when I asked for clarification about the procedure details, her explanation didn't align with what had previously been discussed. Even the dentist seemed uncertain about what work was being performed. This immediately raised concerns about the practice's organization and communication. Later that same day, I was informed that the treatment plan had changed entirely -- without any discussion or explanation -- and my copay had increased from $600 to over $4,000 within just a few hours. To make matters worse, I learned that incorrect information had been submitted to the insurance company based on the previous provider's notes rather than the new dentist's plan. Despite Destiny's efforts to explain, I continued to notice inconsistencies that suggested the staff was trying to correct or conceal earlier mistakes. While I do not doubt the clinical abilities of the dentists, the lack of transparency and professionalism in communication has completely diminished my confidence in this practice.
