After over a week, they contacted me and confidently told me my insurance was verified, that I would only pay $25 per visit, and that I was covered for 10 visits per year. Based on THEIR confirmation, I agreed. Now I am being hit with monthly bills out of nowhere. Here are the facts: I already paid $50 out of pocket My insurance was charged $602.66 I then received an additional bill for $205.56 No clear explanation. No warning. No transparency. I have called multiple times, left voicemails, and tried to resolve this like an adult. No one calls back. No one takes responsibility. No one follows up. The complete lack of professionalism and accountability is shocking. Even worse, their own website lists: New Patient Chiropractic (60 min): $200 Chiropractic (30 min) So how do you justify charging insurance over $600 for a basic visit? This feels misleading at best and unethical at worst. If they had been honest from the beginning, I would have never agreed to treatment. Their space is beautiful, with a relaxing waiting area (you can have a Japanese foot soak while you wait!), friendly and to-the-point check-in process, and a wonderful staff that makes you feel like you've known them for years. Let me first give you this disclaimer: the only massages I had regularly done in the past were mostly "feel good" massages; none were really scheduled to target an particular area. At my first appointment, Carrie introduced me to cupping: a form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin to pull fascia closer to the surface and to mobilize blood flow, in order to promote healing. And whew! She had warned me, but man, I was in pain! You can feel it working instantly, which also means for people who have never had it done before (like me), the feeling of the suction pulling at your deep tissues can be exhilarating, fear-inducing, and tense. She assured me the whole time that although it hurt at that moment, I would thank her for it two days later. I wasn't sure I could trust her, having only just met her, but I continued. Afterward, I half-way reluctantly scheduled my next appointment for the following month. As she had forewarned, by the second day, I felt great! My back, and whole body, had never felt so limber and not sore! Every appointment, I now ask for the cupping and we laugh about my initial hesitation about rescheduling. They have opted to remove the doors to the treatment rooms in order to speed up treatments and move more bodies through the clinic. This takes away any privacy patients once had to discuss personal medical information during their intake. It also takes away a sense of safety for their treatment. A nervous system cannot move into a healing state when it feels like it needs to be on guard in a room with no door. When I reached out to the owner about my concerns I was told that "change is hard" and that "anyone who has experienced trauma will be referred to a therapist that can help them with that." The problem is that we have all experienced trauma and continue to on a regular basis. And receiving bodywork like chiropractic is something that should be done in an environment that feels safe to the body and nervous system. Everything about these changes is saying profit over people and it has left a bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunately I no longer feel comfortable recommending the clinic to my friends and community. I will continue to go see Dr. P and team for now because I am still hoping the owners will see what a huge misstep this is and will choose to listen to the feedback from their patients. I also opted to write the yelp review because I have sent multiple emails trying to explain why this choose is so incongruent with true healthcare and every single time I was told that the changes are there to provide better care for their patients. They collected all my insurance information, and I was told their insurance person was out and would get back to me the next day. She didn't. A week went by, and I still hadn't heard anything, so I had to call them myself. They still weren't sure what my cost would be. I was repeatedly told someone would get back to me, but they never did, so I had to keep calling for answers. On multiple separate occasions, I was verbally told my appointment would cost no more than $70. The day of my appointment, I called again and was told they needed my insurance information, despite already providing it. I gave it to them again and was told someone would get back to me shortly. Since my appointment was that day, I explained that I needed an answer within the hour so I could decide whether to attend. Again, no one called me back. As I was getting ready to leave, I called them myself for an update and was once again told the cost would be $70. I arrived 15 minutes early, only to be told at the front desk that my appointment had been canceled. When I asked why, considering I had spoken with someone less than 30 minutes earlier, no one could explain what happened. "Luckily," the physical therapist I was supposed to see still had availability, so they told me to go ahead with the appointment and complete the paperwork afterward. Because of their miscommunication, they weren't prepared for me until about five minutes after my appointment was supposed to start. While I waited, I could hear three front-desk employees discussing each other, other employees, and the office's lack of communication. It honestly explained everything. Before starting my appointment, I triple-checked that my cost would not be more than $70, and I was explicitly guaranteed that it would not be. I specifically asked multiple times because I wanted to be sure what I would be paying. The physical therapy appointment itself was fine. I have no complaints about the therapist personally. I left feeling relatively positive despite the chaos and even scheduled several additional weekly appointments. Then came the next week. Less than an hour before my second appointment, they called me. This was the only time throughout this entire process that the office proactively contacted me. The person handling insurance informed me that my appointments would actually cost $239.15. I was understandably furious. I explained that I had been told multiple separate times that my cost would be no more than $70. I tried very hard to resolve the situation and avoid having to pay the additional $169.15, but I was told there was no way around it. They weren't sure who had given me the incorrect information and said the issue was ultimately between me and my insurance. I understand that insurance is complicated and mistakes happen. What I don't understand is how I can provide my insurance information, repeatedly ask what I will owe, have to repeatedly call because they don't follow up, and then be verbally assured multiple times that my cost will be no more than $70--only to be told an hour before my next appointment that I owe an additional $169.15 for my previous appointment. I was also told that because I had signed the paperwork, I was responsible for the charge. The problem is that I signed the paperwork after my first appointment, after I had already been given the $70 estimate multiple times and proceeded based on that information. I ultimately paid the bill because I was told there was no other option, but I do not feel this was handled fairly. I tried very hard to avoid paying that amount and tried to resolve it with them, but they refused to take responsibility for repeatedly telling me my cost would not exceed $70. I canceled all my remaining appointments. The physical therapists may be good at what they do, but the administrative and customer service side of this office is incredibly poorly managed. The repeated misinformation, failure to follow up, constant need for me to call for answers, last-minute cancellation, and surprise bill were completely unacceptable. I genuinely feel bad for the therapists because the front office is doing them a huge disservice. Their communication and billing practices are turning away customers who otherwise may have continued treatment. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice to anyone.
