Food, got it, decent selection of foodstuffs in their kitchen area Beer, got it, walk in beer cooler Ammo, got it, really, they do Fishing equipment, got it, LIVE BAIT Anything you'd randomly need at a hardware store, but don't want to drive all the way into Coralville, or Iowa City to get, yeah they got that too! LD Express has a wide variety of merchandise as both a convenience store and hardware store. They don't give stuff away but their prices are reasonable enough. I did luck out and got some incredible deals on battery cables - they probably had been on the shelf a little while. I needed quite a few for a project and saved some serious dough. I think the food prices are a little on the high side so the only food I buy there is the chicken. Their fried chicken is the best in town and is friggin delicious when fresh. I would recommend buying the lunch chicken early - 11ish and the same thing at supper time - buy early and you'll get really crispy pieces. Gas and diesel prices are on a par with the other stations. One thing I like is that unlike many other stores, LD Express gives free air. It's also HIGH PRESSURE so I can fill the big van tires fast. LD also has a car wash with automatic and manual bays. I prefer to use the manual wash. It works just fine and the cost is reasonable. It is well maintained. On the downside, the store has a utilitarian feel to it - cement floors, dusty, etc. The other convenience stores in the area are brighter, less dusty, and more visually appealing. But when it comes down to buying a screwdriver, a fishing license, and a burger all in one trip, LD has everything covered. read more

Car Wash was not working the morning I visited their business. I was not upset at all because it was very cold that morning & things happen. There was a LARGE sign at the Car Wash stating "See Gas Station Attendant for help" so I did (again, not mad at all). As soon as I asked the attendant for assistance I immediately got a rude reaction like I was asking her rotate my tires, change my oil while filling up my gas tank all at the same time!!!! She then called 'Todd' (manager/owner) to the front to deal with me & my HUGE & ANNOYING PROBLEM (apparently). He came from the back room behind me & before I could even turn around to greet him he blurted out "MY GUY IS TAKING CARE OF IT......JUST GO BACK OVER THERE" I went to ask a question & he interrupted me & said "MY GUY IS WORKING ON IT JUST BACK OVER THERE!" What? I'm sorry for using your facilities, am I inconveniencing you?! The guy was flat out rude & did not want to discuss anything. I was going to explain to him what happened so he could troubleshoot the problem but NO......he wanted NOTHING to do with me & it was my FAULT for trying to wash my car when it was so cold out. If you don't want people using your car wash when it's so cold out put them OUT OF ORDER! On a better note, the maintenance guy that tried to fix it could not have been nicer. Very cordial, friendly & even apologized (multiple times). I wasn't looking for an apology because I knew it was very cold & things act up when it gets this cold, but the fact that he took the time to say something like that, gave me a refund GC & thanked me for my patience went far in my book. Too bad 'Todd' ruined it & for that reason I will NEVER do business there again. read more

Used to stop here for the random stuff I'd need around the house. The staff would rather spit on you than deal with you, and while that can be rough sometimes I dealt with it. It kind of gave the place a crust punk hardware store vibe. They had literally everything here, need to find a washer to fit that oddball Ukrainian pipe your landlord installed because it was cheap, they got it. Need to get some industrial urine remover for that party last weekend you betcha. Looking for a bucket of minnows, a case of beer, and some industrial magnets? They got that too. Coming home late at night and need to feed your family some of the greasiest greasest chicken ever made, no problem. However, I reached my limit today when, while browsing I saw "FAKE NEWS" hats and other right-wing bullsh!t strewn all over the place. I've never known this place to really have much of a political bent, granted it never came across as particularly liberal, but it also never seemed to alt-right friendly either. This sadly was the last time I had ever set foot in the LD however, as I can't condone anyplace that hangs propaganda that promotes outright stupidity such as this. read more

Worst customer service ever!!! I showed up to purchase a cooler, ice, batteries, and a bundle of wood for my camping trip. When I had asked the older lady with grey hair for "a thing of wood outside" she just looked at me with a rude glance and questioned what I had asked, and just shrugged her shoulders. I had almost just stopped my purchases and left. I had asked, "what's with the shrug?" She then arrogantly had questioned, "what do you mean a thing of wood, a bundle?" "Yes, some wood from outside to start a fire." When I took my items to my car and walked around the corner to get my "bundle of wood" she was just standing there with her arms crossed like I was wasting her precious time. Another thing was when I walked up to the register, the original attendant walked away to go help someone, probably a friend of theirs I'm gathering from the joking the two were doing, and forced my to deal with the older grey-haired bull dog looking lady. I will never go back to this place!! Do yourself a favor and go to one of the many other gas stations on the same street for your needs. read more

Self service dog was is a great concept, but it does involve some owner maintenance to keep it nice. Every time I go there it is FILTHY and the last time I went on 12/30/2017 the water didn't work. They expect people to clean it themselves which is a great concept but it doesn't happen, and the water hose isn't long enough to clean the room efficiently and the people from LD Express don't do it at all or enough, and like another review the people you are directed to address your issues are rude and act as if you are a bother to them. What ever happened to customer service, and keeping things nice for customers. Not going back, found another location. read more
