We took our dog to North Orange Veterinary for his anal glands to be checked and treated.We were sent home with an antibiotic. It was working great, everything seemed cleared up, until the final day of the treatment. The one gland started oozing again, so we went back to the vet. They determined that the best course of action was to sedate him, flush the gland and fill it with antibiotics. They gave us no cause for concern, so we asked about a skin tag on his eye, if that could be removed while he was out. They said most likely, but it may require just a bit more sedation to ensure it wouldn't wear off before they were done. They gave us no cause for concern. They gave us another antibiotic I think. We had to have him there at 9am, no food after a certain the night before and no water after 6am i think it was. We had him there on time. He was happy to go in that morning. we were given the time frame of when he might be ready to go home. When they took the leash to take him back, he hesitated, then went along. That was at 9 am. We received a call in the afternoon that he crashed out. We were stunned, they clarified it was a heart attack. We flew over there. Dr. Love came in and said she was so sorry. That she didn't know what happened; maybe he had a heart condition we didn't know about, or an allergy to the medication. Well at least their insurance company sent me a letter saying they did nothing wrong. We are just getting started with these people and the Love Doctor.. See you in court soon! A month ago i brought my dog in for bloodwork and urine test. I get a call from shane that my dog is likely going into addisons shock and i need to get her in asap because it can cause sudden death. Shane reiterated that I should bring her in the next day to be on fluids and leaving her the longer the better. I brought her in the next morning before work praying she was in good hands. I got my first call from a terribly rude nurse named ashley. She called me back later in the afternoon to ask me to pick her up at 5. But how was she doing?? I had to ask her for an update. I also opted to get the urine cultured since she had a UTI. Then i went in to pick her up at 5. This is where it felt really ODD. The horrific nurse Ashley was RAVING about how much better she was doing. She then started to tell me loudly in the tiny waiting room how badly her urine wreaked of fish and how they had to clean out the whole room because of it. She asked me flat out "YOU COULDNT SMELL IT?? CANT YOU SMELL IT NOW??" In that moment i wanted to cry. I felt like i failed her. A vet tech brought my dog out in a towel holding her. My dog did not look my way. It was the first time in her life that she looked straight ahead, as if she could not see me. I took her in my arms and she was dead weight. Her breathing was shallow and she not once looked my direction. Dr. Love took me into a room where she talked my ear off about how she doesnt have addison shock. (Later to find out that since she was on prednisone she was never at risk of addison shock). While in the chair my dog was urinating and defecting herself. Dr. Love did not show any concern. I looked at my baby girl again and said to her "IS SHE OK? SHE LOOKS SEDATED?" Dr. Love asked me if i wanted her to call the ER. What???? "She was "monitored" by you all day. You tell me!" And she responded with "she just looks sleepy." I left to my car. I asked the vet tech to help me because my dog was dead weight. She defected herself again when we put her in the backseat. I asked the tech "what is going on? Why is this happening?" She replied with "this is good, it means everything is moving." I left with the worst feeling and wondering why everyone was assuring me that she is doing so well??? I got home and prayed she would get better. Because why would a vets entire office lie to me, right? My baby could not walk or see, had her head pressed straight up to the wall and having seizures and i KNEW it meant she had a stroke. I took her to the ER and she took her last breath in my arms. The next morning I get a call from Dr. Love. She asked me how my dog was doing and i told her she died. She did NOT sound surprised. She then asked " are you getting an autopsy?" WHAT? AM I GETTING AN AUTOPSY??? I had nothing left to say to this woman. 6 days later i asked for all records to be sent to her internist (again). Only then, did Erin the manager call me to tell me " oh hey guess what, we were able to get the urine culture cancelled and want to give you a refund." Ummmm what??? Now they tell me this.... 6 days later, coincidentally after i asked for the detailed records. The $2,100 i spent in 2 days. There was no record of the culture and they intended on keeping my money for it. What Dr. Love did was take on a case she should NEVER HAVE. She was never at risk of addison shock. They had my dog likely having MULTIPLE STROKES in THEIR CARE and CHOSE to do NOTHING! Not only did they not alert me immediately, they just left her there for EIGHT HOURS! She was scared and in pain and they just left her urinating and defecting herself. I can only imagine from what i do know, what else she was put through. I could have taken her to a speciality team that cared about her, are competent and honest. Dr. Love and her team have CONSISTENTLY showed me they are incompetent, unethical, they LIE and will do anything to wipe their hands clean when something happens on their watch. They would rather do a cover up than save a life. Do not trust these people with your animals. To us, they are our everything. To them, they are merely a transaction. read more

This is an ok veterinary clinic for basic issues.. .. however....every time I've had a minor emergency issue with one of my dogs, not once have they attempted to fit them in for a same day appointment. In every one of those cases, I call another vet I've previously used, with them always making time to squeeze us in or stayed open until we arrived--on weekends, after hours. As for north orange... their parking is very limited so typically parking down the street. Vet services are ok, but expensive compared to others. Waiting area is small. Additionally, my dogs' reactions to this place make me question how they are treated if out of my sight. The veterinary doctors are knowledgeable and good but I'm so-so on recommending as north orange days open, hours, parking, and their ability to fit your pet into a same day if needed are all poor. read more

Nespresso is offered to customers. Great touch that won me over. Dr. Jeff is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain everything in laymans term. We just moved to the area and needed to find a new vet for our 3 dogs. There's only a few options in Fallbrook, so I decided to give North Orange a call. Right from the get go, Michelle in the front office was SO helpful - she was able to get us an appointment to bring all 3 dogs in at once and also called our previous vet offices to get all of their records beforehand. Our dogs are typically not HUGE fans of the vet (i.e. one of them shakes uncontrollably the second we set foot inside of any vet office) but I think that Dr. Lane has some major good vibes, because all 3 did great! He was very knowledgeable and took the time to ask questions about all our dogs and give us advice on past medical problems one of them had. Melissa the Vet Assistant was also wonderful and helped our dogs brave a few vaccines and lab tests during our visit. I'm so glad that we had a great first experience here and I would gladly recommend them based on the fantastic visit we had! read more

North Orange Vet is the absolute best. Dr. Love and the staff are extremely compassionate and knowledgeable.

The chaotic atmosphere at the receptionists' areas indicated that this clinic brings in more patients than they can handle, result being an office lacking a professional approach to treating patients, very little concern about a pets' well being, and no concern about wasting an owner's time. Dr. Love removed a cyst from my 10 mo old pup's head. We were given an appointment about 2 weeks later for the suture removal. The schedulers were abundantly aware that my pup would need sedation by injection to remove the stitches. They also required that prior to the appointment my pup have two heavy doses of two tranquilizers, the night before and on the day of the suture removal. I would not have given him these very high doses especially due to his very young age if there was a chance he would not be seen. After driving 1.5 hours to this clinic I found that, like my first visit, there was no parking available on their lot or adjacent streets. The waiting room was at capacity with 6 pet owners crammed into the very small area. The receptionist told me to park in the adjacent church's lot and to keep my pup in my hot car. Moments later a technician came to tell me to move my car as they church does not allow patients to park there. After I found parking at the adjacent dentists' office, this tech ordered me to take my sedated and groggy pup out of the car to lay him on the very hot pavement so that she could look at him. By this time, an hour has passed since my 2pm appointment time. She then said that my pup's suture removal appointment is cancelled because they do not have the staff to further sedate him. This, when the clinic had 6 hours since their opening to notify me and to reschedule. In a likely attempt to "justify" their cancelling the suture removal, this tech took a photo with her camera of my pup's stitches, purportedly to show to Dr. Love. She returned to say that the stitches weren't ready to come out "anyway." I could have emailed a photo of the stitches that morning and avoided wasting my time and subjecting my young pup to the discomforts he endured. I took my pup back to his regular vet who did a great job in removing his sutures. My entire dog training group will never again visit this clinic. read more

When I first called North Orange I was greeted by a very professional young man on the phone. I think his name was Harrison. He was supper helpful in explaining the costs as well as what my dog would need to have done for a teeth cleaning. I was told I would most likely be needing an anathestic operation done. For everything he needed the costs were very reasonable and competitive. When I arrived I was greeted with a warm smile and after a very short wait I went to see Dr Smith. I have to say Dr. Smith is fantastic. Dr. Smith very clearly explained what he would be going through with his cleaning as well as the aftercare. Pancho also received any shots that he was short on and his staff was great with him and Pancho didn't make a peep the whole time. I started using this clinic because of it's closeness to our house in Fallbrook. We had been using Butterfield hospital in Temecula. The first thing I noticed that was a concern was how small the facilities were. So I've been bringing my Rottie for a couple years now and the care has been adequate. The last visit was a little concerning. I requested a teeth cleaning and to have a wound on his leg that was in a bad spot for healing without re-injury from basic movements. When they presented me a list of recommended treatments I almost fainted. Blood work and exam wasn't an issue. The issue I had was with the recommendation for x-rays and medication costing almost $450 more. He is i good health with no indication of any issues requiring x-rays. His wound was cleaned daily and not infected, so no medication ($250) was required. I requested a splint or stitches to help the wound heal. They charged me $38 to put a bandage on the wound which I was doing daily myself. I thought that they would splint it with the bandage, but they didn't. The bandage was far in excess of what it needed to be and encased his entire lower leg. (maybe to look like they did something worth $38)? I didn't need to pay them for this service since we had discussed the fact that I was cleaning it and changing the bandage daily. I ordered a splint from Chewy for $25 and it is working fine to immobilise the area. Ultimately they wanted over $1200 for this visit with over $700 of it not even needed. Then I was advised that prior to a cleaning, they needed to give another exam even though it's only been a few days! This seems a little excessive unless there is an indicator justifying it. A cleaning was over $500 with other recommendations like x-rays putting a basic cleaning well over $650. You can tell the health of his teeth when you clean them and then go from there. They push too many nice to have treatments that will put the cost far in excess of whats actually needed. They seem like they are more interested in making money than working with the client to just resolve current issues. If my dog wasn't eating, loosing weight or had other indicators that something was wrong, I would look into what was needed, but not just for making sure through high priced testing. read more

There's new ownership and the prices are higher. I scheduled my puppy for a spay and microchip. Was quoted $175 for spay and $45 for microchip. New ownership did not honor prices that I thought I was going to pay. The doctor did suggest to meet me halfway with a $200 spay. I would have appreciated the heads up on the price change prior to the appointment. However, it was a quick turnover in ownership so I can understand that perspective. Hopefully the new ownership and staff settle in soon and things will not be be so chaotic. read more

I wish I could give them 10 stars!!! Dr. Smith is the best veterinarian I've ever found. I have a Sphynx cat on her second litter and he was so thorough researching the breed, I was extremely impressed. He listened, answered all our questions and really put us at ease. It was 180' to the other care I had received. I sincerely wish I had found him sooner. He takes his time and really explains things so I understand what's going on. The diet he recommended did wonders for my cat and there's no-one I trust more with her kittens. When the first litter got sick I spoke with him almost daily as each one of the test results came back in. They're extremely fast too, just yesterday, Dr. Smith called me with the results of a fecal float within hours of dropping it off! The office has really cool artwork, a coffee maker, blue buffalo samples and it's always pristinely​ clean. I feel a need and was inspired to write this review. Dr. Love and the entire staff at North Orange Vet Clinic are the best I have encountered in 40 years as a multiple pet owner. The inspiration for this review has to do with our Golden Retreiver, Olivia, who was 14 1/2, old for a Golden. Dr. Love has been gently and lovingly monitoring Olivia for 18 months as her old age took over. Olivia had suffered "stroke" like symptoms, had anxiety, hearing loss, and bad arthritis in her back end. Each time Olivia went to see Dr. Love, Dr. Love sat down on the floor next to her. She comforted her and gently calmed her. We saw Olivia spring back to her abilities to swim in the pool, walk outside, and enjoy her later year. A few times we thought, this is it, the end, time.....I believe there were 3 of these false alarms since January this year. Last week, May 29 Olivia showed us it was time to jourey over the Rainbow Bridge, and the only place we would take her was to Dr. Love and North Orange. Based on all the 5 star reviews, I decided to try them out. They are the nicest group of people but they have major scheduling issues. On one of my appointments, they told me someone had made a mistake and I wasn't on the appointment books. Stuff happens and I rescheduled. Today was absolutely not acceptable. My appointment was at 3:30. They didn't come out until 10 minutes later to tell me to wait. I patiently waited. Over half an hour later, I call them to ask if it would be longer and we could reschedule. I just couldn't sit with my poor dog any longer. Ten minutes went by and still sitting in the car. I drove off and still haven't heard from them an hour later. What a joke. I also waited for this appointment because they couldn't fit me in last week. Thank you for wasting my time. We really appreciated the love and care our pets got when this was Dr. Smith's practice. He was amazing. More recently, we have gotten care for our animals from the newer vets and while we miss Dr. Smith, we appreciate the continued demonstration of care for our furry family members. Today, we had to put down our very old and sick Rat Terrier. Dr. Love, Ms. Stephanie, and the whole staff were so kind and sensitive about our situation. We were treated with great empathy and warmth. There is even a candle feature at the front desk that the staff lights when "someone is saying goodbye to their beloved pet" to notify other clients in the waiting room and I thought that was a very nice gesture. read more

My Kono girl had the best care , and this gave me peace. The entire staff were a god send as we had our Kono in and out the past two days. Looking back on decision to not transfer to 24 hr care, I'm glad I stayed here...I knew in my heart that Kono was fading...I saw it, I felt it. I wanted a compassionate vet that wasn't out to charge you a fortune because your animal is sick and you have no other choice. Today I visited North Orange veterinary clinic. My husky shepherd was sick for a few days and she needed to be seen. The office staff was very friendly and very helpful. The office was clean and cute. The vet was kind, helpful, knowledgeable and was not out to run every test imaginable. When in the end the treatment would be the same. I just moved into town and had heard this was a great vet from a woman who sees me walking my dogs everyday. Today my 9 and a half year old dachshund suddenly stopped walking. I called North Orange Vet clinic explaining that I just moved here and had not seen a vet in the area yet but my dog was having an emergency. They got me in within an hour to see the vet. We had x-rays and bloodwork done, and received medication and it was turned out well under the price I was expecting it to be. Everyone was extremely nice to me and my dog and he was well cared for. I will Definitely be back with both of my dogs when they're due for shots or if another unexpected emergency happens. I would 100% recommend this veterinary office. On my way out another client was coming in with their pet rabbit so if you have a small pet that needs a visit, give this vet a chance. read more
