The carpets were in bad shape to begin with when we moved in, and now they are charging us to replace them (eventhough this normally should be an accepted charge for managing and maintaining an apartment building that has years of use.) They also are claiming that because the apartment was not deep cleaned - absolutely nothing was left in the unit and we fully cleaned the place with some minor scuffs on the wall just from living - that it is beyond normal wear and tear of someone living in an apartment, eventhough there is photo evidence of the opposite. I had never not received a security deposit back, and now have to spend my time taking them to court because they are being the typical, greedy property manager people warn you about. It is also important to note that we moved out 5 months ago, and are just now getting to the legal process due to their complete delays in email responses, and we have only gotten answers after following up, occasionally multiple times. I will acknowledge the building manager Edie was very sweet and generally helpful while we were renting there, and their maitenance team was super responsive. Please think twice before renting with them if you want to see any bit of your security deposit back.

Improvements have been made new carpet in the hallways. Sadly yoou get treated nicely the first year you are here. Then your rent goes up each year with the fact that with every lease renewal you pay a brand new security deposit each renewal. You are told when you first move in, " It's a one time fee." They fail to mention each time you renew. the leasing office is un responsive to request, they revert you to call security for everything. Noise complaints parking violations, etc. rent goes up every year, and any amenity you pay for ie: storage will double or triple the next year. It's not as expensive as the newer apartments on Nordhoff but really close. Oh and Fiona the business owner? She's actually the AI assistant they implemented about a year and a half ago. With over 170 units, vast common grounds, an aging property and a small staff, I am constantly amazed at the expertise of our manager, Ilana Stein, in keeping everything running as smoothly as possible and continuing to provide a wonderful place for us to live. I have been present as Ilana has dealt with tenants on a variety of issues, both in person and on the phone, and I marvel at her patience, calm and empathy with a wide variety of personalities. She is kind, caring, knowledgeable, helpful and an excellent problem solver. Her desire is that each tenant have a comfortable, pleasant, happy place to reside and she constantly gives of herself in an effort to accomplish that. Also why is it that it seems like these apartments are made out of eggshells? Every little turn I make creates a dent in the wall, like really?! Seems like the complex put out some good incentives in the beginning but once they got people in, it's like nothing has happened. I don't know if maybe they lost a contract with a construction company or what but a lot has been left halfway done.
