So this is a long story. August of 2024 I go to this place. A recommended spot that my in laws typically WENT to. I went in for a routine smog check. Did you know there were different time frames in which to have smog checks be valid? I sure didn't. I went in assuming that the smog check I got was a TWO YEAR check up. So I go all year with my tags bad because we couldn't find out why the smog was no good. Come to find out they made the smog check valid for THREE MONTHS. I wasn't planning on selling my car or anything of that nature so I wasn't and still am not sure why this happened. But $74 dollars was how much it cost me to get the smog check from here. The men that work here are really nice but this makes me weary of returning because yes, I am a woman. And yea I did go by myself. I would hate to get ripped off like I did , again. Difficult to find trustworthy, and not overwhelmingly packed shops anymore....places that'll give time to your car during each oil change, understand and manage their time to not take on more than they can bite. In 30 years, the owner says he normally never closes. Last week was due to a staff. Call ahead in case, also to see how busy they are and great day/time to visit. Takes credit card. Each oil change, they check everything and top off any fluids for the car. Local spot so many ppl drop off their car and pick up next day. Or there are things to do in the area weather permitting like - Wifi/study/work on laptop at Ding Tea open at 1130am. - Grocery shop at Green market - Laundry coin-op - Hue Thai is cheap, good bun mai. Cash. And a bar restaurant next door. Shop lobby is open doors with an old bathroom. No heater. Unsure if wall ac works in the summer. There are limited seats and not really best place to chill too long. The wait to fixing could take some time. Shop cat is nice. Staff drives the car around after to get any fume smell out, which is really nice of them. Cost more/more expensive than other places but reliable. And takes care of your car. We've been to cheaper decent places that over time got overwhelmed, then quality of or any service didn't exist anymore... Where we paid for oil change, but found out they forgot to do the oil change at all when going to a different place. We stuck with a company for over 5 years thinking they know our car. What we learned is to just trust a reliable, experienced place that isn't overwhelmed but isn't empty. If they cost more, it's fine because in the long run, your car is taken care. Brought my car in because it was shaking violently and my check engine light came on. I called an hour before close and they were able to diagnose my car's issue. I had an engine misfire and left my car overnight because they recommended me not to drive it anymore. I have only positive things to say about Jim and North Peck Auto. Jim came off very knowledgeable and professional. I can tell he was a very honest and ethical mechanic. He replaced my spark plugs and coils to fix the engine misfire. He even inspected other places of the car and helped me replace some stuff free of charge or at a big discount. I ended up getting an oil change and my fluids topped up here (long overdue) at a bargain. The car feels a lot more crisp driving it. My AC feels colder because be replaced the radiator cap for free! Very clean and well organized shop, they open at 8:30am, Mon-Sat and they fill up fast, so make sure you give them a call ahead of the time. They take credit card. They charged me $88 for an oil change for me 323i BMW. This included Mobil 1 synthetic oil and BMW specific filters. It took them 20 minutes to do the oil change. Dog approved auto shop! Well maybe not for ALL dogs, but my dog was fine in the car. When I dropped off my car for an oil change, the estimated time was about 30 minutes. I had my dog in the car because I usually don't need to wait for very long. I seized the opportunity to make a quick trip to George's Produce, which is a block away. Bob had a great attitude, as long as my dog didn't mind being in the car, he didn't either! By the time I got back from the market, Bob just finished with my car and was petting my dog as he finished parking. Aside from oil changes, Jim and Bob are great about assessing your car if you bring it in with a concern. If they don't have a part you need, they are able to order it and often get the part the same day! The service is great, work is done pronto, and prices are great.
