My husband and I stayed at North Shire Lodge for our anniversary. We had a FANTASTIC stay. We felt right at home. Had delicious breakfast both mornings!!!! We enjoyed being greeted by Otis (the owners dog) when we came in for breakfast. The views outside our door were so relaxing. We definitely did not want to go back to reality after our weekend. We will definitely be back

This place was very clean, didn't find one thing wrong with the rooms and breakfast and dinner was delicious. Very cute place and would come back again. All fresh food made by this cute couple, came back one night for dinner and drinks and felt right at home. Came with my boyfriend, a cute couples spot but also great for kids. We came in the middle of winter so lots of snow and a fire place in main lodge but looks great for summer. - UPDATE 8.14.2020 BEAUTIFUL IN SUMMER. Still recommend

This motel is pleasant, but some elements limit the comfort level. Sitting on a picturesque hill, sadly above a busy road, the view from each room is idyllic. Unique in that the facility features 14 small cabin rooms immediately side-by-side like an old-fashioned drive-in motel. Our room had been freshly, and smartly, appointed in modern colors with a country/Rockwell nostalgia. Though great care has been taken to modernize the room, there were some glaring and unrestful issues. The bed is terribly uncomfortable- not a minor issue in a motel. The toilet is the tiniest thing I've ever seen. When the neighboring room turns on the shower it sounds like a Lear jet taking off. Breakfast was included in the stay. We chose 'both' breakfast options of scrambled eggs with bacon and a delicious corn muffin. The second option was French toast with a maple-pecan butter and one sausage link. Both offerings were very tasty. The breakfast menu changes daily. Coffee is seemingly endless. Our only criticism about breakfast was that the coffee lacked flavor. The owners and staff were very friendly. It's clear they want your experience to be a good one. They even sell craft beer and wine in the lobby area which you can take to your room. The breakfast area is a pub in the evening that seems to host an impressive array of liquor and some pub food. Our plans couldn't accommodate a stop, but it looked inviting. I'm not sure we would return. Neither of us slept much- mostly tossing and turning on the old and most uncomfortable mattress. And though much of the stay was pleasant, this facility rates three stars in our experience.

Great place to stay. The staff is professional and super friendly. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is top notch. I highly recommend this place if you're traveling through Vermont.

We found this on the internet and stopped in. What a gem! We enjoyed our stay with the friendly and helpful folks who operate this lodge. The room was very clean and comfortable and what a view from the sliding glass door down the valley. They also have discount tickets for the Hildene-Lincoln home tour, so ask for them. The breakfast was very good, served on time, in their bar area that also has that great view of the valley. We would definitely stay here again.

Great experience! Very eclectic, unconventional. Breathtaking mountain views…read more My family rented two vacation houses at the Wilburton for our large extended family of 25 -- I knew very little about the property before we arrived, so we were taken aback by the sprawling turn-of-the-century mansion and spectacular mountain views as we drove up the driveway. We absolutely never expected the art installations across the grounds -- including 18 x 26-foot Egyptian statues! The art and decor were eclectic and unexpected, and I found them very intriguing. It's definitely not your traditional resort, but that's what we liked about it. And the statues made for an amazing night with smores by the fire pit! The Reunion House was spacious -- we particularly enjoyed the living room, as it gave us enough room to comfortably host the other half of our family (about 25 of us) for a casual birthday party. There was plenty of seating with cozy leather sectionals and two large dining tables that seated about 8-10 people each. My daughter loved playing the piano in the living room, and the rooms downstairs with the daybeds were a great place for the kids to hang out and watch TV together. (The galley kitchen is a little small, but we were aware of this ahead of time because it was mentioned on their website.) We were there during a massive heat wave and all the air conditioners worked very well and kept us cool. Our kids loved the volley ball/badminton area steps away from our house. The outdoor pool is beautiful and it was so wonderful to be able to gather there easily with our whole family. The innkeepers were friendly and helpful. And we enjoyed looking around the mansion as well. There was so much do to in nearby Manchester -- great restaurants and shops, the bookstore is fantastic. We also enjoyed the ropes course and alpine slide at Bromley Mountain. We can't wait to return next year -- we'll be staying at one of the other properties even closer to my extended family's rental house and I'm so excited for its private balconies, jacuzzi tubs, and even more beautiful mountain views!

The grounds are beautiful, serving as an outdoor sculpture garden, perfect for strolling or meditation. The inn is located away from the bustle of Manchester Center, but only a few minutes away from Main Street and the state roads to reach nearby towns. The main house was rented out for the weekend, so we were unable to go inside, but Melissa graciously offered to give us a quick tour when we checked out (contactless, as was the check-in), so we had the opportunity to meet Melissa, as well as the "doggie concierge" Jetson, and sampled some muffins baked on the premises. Top-notch service and hospitality, would love to return in the warmer seasons!

Yelp asks what could improve?…read more Well, for starters my now wife and I booked an elopement package here. We booked the Tier Two package as we thought it was the best value. Based on what we saw on their website it looked amazing! Unfortunately after the experience it felt extremely over priced. We were under the impression the manager Cheryl was going to be there and was assisting us with any questions or issues that came up leading up to our special day and then the day before found out that she was on vacation and Jen would be helping us. Upon checking in we went to our room the "Lucinda's Suite" which by the name sounds great. The room itself was large and rustic which isn't bad and was what we were looking for however when i went to use the shower i barely fit never mind the shower head was at my chest level. I'm not a tall person either. On Saturday the day of our "special day" we went to the included breakfast which was nice but were left wondering what was going on for our big day as we were introduced to absolutely no one and told nothing besides a time to show up. When my wife and I went to the gazebo where the ceremony was to be held it was a rough site. Paint peeling, rotting floor boards and things of that nature, not something you're imagining to take pictures in on your big day. As we sat in our room we watched as they decorate led the gazebo...with a table and a table cloth. About 30 minutes prior we were finally introduced to Jen and our Photographer Greg. The best thing i can say was Greg was truly an amazing photographer and did the best he could with our photos. He honestly made the day for us a lot better with his energy and his enthusiasm. After it all we decided to just cut our losses and go home even though we had paid for 2 nights. The 3 hour drive and staying in our own home sounded better. Overall if you're looking for a nice place to elope this wasn't it, as our day did not feel as though it was made very special. The absolute best part was the photographer Greg Nesbitt.

I'm gonna share these thoughts in no particular order. The hotel is incredibly dog friendly. That really stuck out. They're human friendly as well, but they are especially dog friendly. My impression of the hotel is that the Kimpton brand is so incredibly good at bringing outdated into today and still keeping the classic or historic elements in place. You can see that here through some of the photos I shared. Feel free to grab a bike or a scooter from the front and take a ride around town or around the property. If you brought your dog, grab a stick from the dog stick library and if you need to sit down and have a drink, every evening at five there's a Social hour where you can meet your neighbors and play some checkers over a glass of complementary wine or beer. There's usually some sort of snack involved and plenty of activities inside or out. The entire staff is friendly and genuinely helpful. It might be an act, but it looks like they enjoyed being there. I would highly recommend staying here if you're in the area. Here's a couple more notes. They have activities from bocce ball to a swimming pool, and the library is full of activities for people of all ages. Don't forget to grab a complementary cup of coffee in the morning on your way out for the day. The property and the rooms were always clean and the AC works like a charm.
