I just got back from a long road trip and this was the highlight of our trip. I'll try and be quick and to the point but there's a lot to say about the Kimpton Taconic. I'm gonna share these thoughts in no particular order. The hotel is incredibly dog friendly. That really stuck out.They're human friendly as well, but they are especially dog friendly. My impression of the hotel is that the Kimpton brand is so incredibly good at bringing outdated into today and still keeping the classic or historic elements in place. You can see that here through some of the photos I shared. Feel free to grab a bike or a scooter from the front and take a ride around town or around the property. If you brought your dog, grab a stick from the dog stick library and if you need to sit down and have a drink, every evening at five there's a Social hour where you can meet your neighbors and play some checkers over a glass of complementary wine or beer. There's usually some sort of snack involved and plenty of activities inside or out. The entire staff is friendly and genuinely helpful. It might be an act, but it looks like they enjoyed being there. I would highly recommend staying here if you're in the area. Here's a couple more notes. They have activities from bocce ball to a swimming pool, and the library is full of activities for people of all ages. Don't forget to grab a complementary cup of coffee in the morning on your way out for the day. The property and the rooms were always clean and the AC works like a charm. read more

We loved staying at the Kimpton Taconic Hotel for our fall trip to Vermont. The rooms were well appointed and comfortable! It is a very dog friendly property, so if you aren't thrilled to see a dog in your hotel I'd stay somewhere else. We also booked as part of a sale on Travel Zoo and got the rooms for a great price. Manchester is well located to restaurants and outlet shopping. We also drove to see some cute towns and sites nearby. I would totally stay here again. read more

I've had several pleasant stays here. Well-appointed rooms, beautiful lobby and lounges, and some excellent (if pricey) meals at the Copper Grouse, inside and on the veranda. Walking distance to some nice restaurants and everything Orvis, although a good mile from Manchester Center. A bit pricey, but I've jad good luck with deals on Travelzoo. The rocking chairs and lawn games are nice, although the pool is quite small. read more

This hotel was chaotic and poorly managed. The lobby was crowded and dirty, with numerous dogs and no staff prepared to manage cleanliness or guest concerns. When issues were raised, staff were dismissive and unable to help, citing a lack of cleaning support. For a property that markets itself as 4-star, the lack of organization, cleanliness, and professionalism was unacceptable. rooms are smaller than shown and more similar to a 3-star hotel / motel, would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting a true 4-star experience. read more

Everything here was outstanding. The room was gorgeous, the ambience was quittesential Vermont. The room had a fireplace I could not turn on, and there was a small sign I could barely read that said the room had been downgraded to a 'standard" King room, and the fireplace was taken out of service. Seemed very low budget and suddenly made a $600 a night room feel like a Motel 6. I never asked for a fireplace, but it would have been nice to have at that pricepoint. I've had my eye on this hotel for a few years and finally made it. We've loved the Kimpton brand in our travels and this option was driveable! Manchester VT is a great walking town and the Kimpton Taconic is perfectly situated. We traveled in mid October when room prices were at a premium due to VT foliage but I hope to return when rates are more moderate, Travel during Covid is a pain in my opinion so I'm pretty picky with my hotel choices. This is a fairly large hotel but feels boutique . Staff is masked. A few of the old Kimpton touches were gone now that IHG has bought them but I still love the brand. The king room seemed small upon entering ( given the price) but really was a nice functional layout. We chose a fireplaced king and I wish two easy chairs were available to enjoy the fireplace. Bed was comfy, shower pressure was awesome and the window opened for air circulation. With Covid , many nearby dining spots have odd hours and days open and there is a spreadsheet style list at the front desk to help. I would have liked to have dined at the hotel restaurant but it was booked for our night several days in advance . There is room service ( wish I knew this in advance as we had a late lunch coming in so we didn't have to deal with reservations elsewhere). We did have a nice breakfast on their awesome heated front porch. Kimpton social hour is not what it used to be. You are given one ticket per guest. In the past in other Kimpton's in Santa Barbara and Sedona it was more of a gathering atmosphere with the option of a followup glass of wine or beer! We had 4 tickets in our little packet but the gentleman pouring wouldn't honor the second ticket saying it was an error. I felt that could have been handled differently . There is a $30 resort fee for the Taconic. It is openly described. I hate resort fees and wish they would just incorporate them in the room price. $30 is customary though I've stayed at much posher hotels with more amenities for my " resort fee". Internet should be a given in 2021. When the pool is closed, I feel the resort fee should be reduced. There is also zero need to valet park at the Taconic. Although the resort fee obviously hit a chord with me, the Kimpton Taconic is a great hotel and choice for Manchester. It's sparkling clean , looks brand new and has the feel of a boutique hotel even though it's much larger. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return! read more

I genuinely want to move into this hotel - from the moment I walked it, it was warm, beautifully decorated, and the kind of place you just want to nestle in and stay for a while. The main lobby area has a gorgeous wood-burning fireplace (double sided, so you can also sit fireside in The Copper Grouse, the on-site restaurant/bar), and the location of the Taconic cannot be beat - it's close to everything; some great hikes, restaurants in town, sights, everything. I came here for a week-long business trip in September and loved my stay so much that I told my husband we absolutely needed to come up for a short mini trip for our wedding anniversary. As soon as he and I walked into the hotel, he was as obsessed as I was - and even more so when we got to our fireplace king room (I had stayed in a slightly larger suite the first time I stayed for work, but they had us at the fireplace, especially since we were headed there in November). The room was spacious, the fireplace was an awesome addition, the bathrobes were the perfect lounging accessory, and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. As always with Kimpton hotels, depending on your status or the event you have going on, they go above and beyond with rewarding you for your loyalty to their brand. We were given a gorgeous spread of fresh fruit and cheeses, as well as a bottle of red wine and card wishing us well for our anniversary. It's those thoughtful touches that really mean a lot, and made us feel so celebrated and appreciated. Some of the overall benefits of staying at Kimptons are the coffee in the morning (set up at the Taconic by the aforementioned wood burning fireplace, so hello, heaven), free bikes that are available to sign out, ability to bring your dog for no extra charge (I was having major dog envy as we sat in the lobby and saw so many dogs walking around -- also, despite it being a dog friendly hotel, I have NEVER heard a dog barking or out of control during any of my stays at Kimpton hotels all over the country), and then an evening social hour where you can grab a snack and some wine/drinks. Also - the Taconic has a pool, which is another huge advantage - November was not necessarily pool friendly weather, but the fact that it's there for warmer months is a huge "pro" for the hotel. The wine hour at the Taconic is slightly different from most Kimpton wine hours, since Vermont law only allows them to serve you one glass of wine per evening that you're staying at the hotel. It's still a great perk to have, and if the weather is nice, I'd definitely recommend taking your glass and sitting on the incredible, to die for, front porch (there are a TON of rocking chairs too - it is serious porch goals). The front desk staff was also so friendly, warm, and professional - they answered all our questions (about late check outs), and were always there to welcome you back after a day out, or see if there was anything that you needed. This is my new favorite East Coast Kimpton hotel - my husband and I had the most relaxing stay at the Taconic, are so grateful for the staff, and just the beauty of the property on a whole. My husband and I are already planning to make a stay to the Taconic an annual trip because we genuinely had the most positive experience and left after only two nights feeling incredibly rested and relaxed. read more

When I made the reservation. I called the hotel directly. I paid a deposit for a cottage. I specifically requested not to have a handicap accessible room. when I checked in, they gave me the keys to a cottage. When I enter the cottage, it was a handicap accessible room. All of the furniture was low to the ground. The bathroom was all handicap accessible. The shower had a drop down stool. The shower was also wheelchair accessible.. I returned to the front desk. She said that's all she has. She even said she had no idea that room was handicap accessible? I explained. I just flew into Boston and drove three hours to this hotel. And she said I'm so sorry there's nothing else. I asked for my deposit back as well as to cancel the reservation. She supposedly did that. I'm waiting for the credit to come back onto my credit card. On a sidenote. This area is absolutely beautiful. And the hotel has zero amenities and grounds. read more

My friends and I spent a few days at this hotel during the Thanksgiving weekend due to its proximity to Stratton mountain. Manchester, VT was a short walk/drive away, the hotel was very charming, and the staff was super friendly despite how busy the hotel was! Leaving 2 stars because the hotel accommodations: food, lodging, etc. were very nice. However, the customer service was flat out appalling. I forgot an iPad in my room. 100% my fault. No question there. What happened next should not have. Realizing I forgot my device upon landing at my home airport, I immediately called the hotel. The gentlemen working the front desk on the night of 1/13/2023 who answered was abrupt, rude, and refused to check the then-unoccupied room saying house keeping would look the next day and he would make a note to have them contact me first thing in the morning. Morning came and went with no return call. I reached out again and spoke with Brittany (very nice) who promised to have housekeeping check and call me back. No one called back. Now frustrated, I called again that night (1/14/2023) and spoke with the same gentleman at the front desk who refused to look in the room the night I checked out. He matter of factly told me there was no iPad found in the room. He assured me they had thoroughly checked and I was mistaken. It was not there. We ended the call. Feeling unsatisfied with this answer and knowing full well I had left my iPad in the room, I called back. I was ASSURED that housekeeping had checked and there was nothing in the room. I asked for a manager's phone number and after an unnecessary amount of time arguing for it I was passed to the voicemail of Luke who is in charge of that department. Luke called back the next day. At this point there was another guest in the room and they, when prompted, checked and found the device exactly where I said it was. I'm lucky and thankful they were honest people as they could have easily enjoyed a free iPad thanks to the hotel staff's inaction. While I am eternally grateful to Luke for doing his job well and promptly responding to my voicemail, I am extremely disappointed in the rest of the staff I spoke to, specifically the lazy jerk at the front desk who was rude, incompetent, and immensely unhelpful. If you find yourself thousands of miles away and in need of help, don't expect it from him. read more

We especially enjoyed the dog friendly amenities, the wine hour, fire pit, porch seating, and how the hotel dealt with COVID safety and cleanliness. What a lovely, fun hotel! We used to go up the road to the Equinox, but that has so deteriorated that we walked in to the Taconic and now have stayed three times in one year! The copper grouse is a fantastic restaurant, the rooms are lovely New England decor, as is the lobby and grounds. We were just there at Christmastime and they had their usual social hour, serving drinks and cookies, but also had delicious hot chocolate in the lobby all day. The staff is warm and friendly and the place is so dog friendly, we just love it there and will be back for sure! read more

Top tier in every regard. The staff across the board is comprised of some of the nicest, most accommodating people you could ever meet. Our room/cabin was cozy and comfortable and checked every box one could ask for: nice shower, quality bedding, charming decor, etc. The location of the hotel is ideal; there is no shortage of great restaurants and attractions within walking and short driving distance. Everyone working there was more than happy to help, and it was clear that everyone involved was putting in an effort to make our stay here enjoyable. This was a very lovely hotel in Manchester. The rooms were cute and cozy. The hotel staff - from the front desk to housekeeping to room service - were all very nice. They consistently went out of their way to help us with everything. There are some nice amenities: the hotel offers a shuttle service to nearby ski mountains and outlets; You can rent board games at the front desk; there is a small fitness center; there is also an outdoor pool for the warm months; they provide coffee/tea in the morning; and there is a nice restaurant/bar connected to the hotel. My only complaint is that the price is a bit steep for its offerings - and they charge a resort fee on top of the nightly cost. It's a nice hotel, but I wouldn't classify it as a resort. There isn't much to keep you entertained on the premises. If you don't mind the cost, however, I think you'll have a very happy stay. It is definitely kid-friendly, for those traveling with children. read more

Way over priced! We reserved a Mountain View Room at a higher rate. We were placed in a very small room next to the elevator. It was right above the loading dock where staff took their smoke breaks and had some loud conversations. I was pleasantly surprised to find a refrigerator in the room. However, there was only one chair and no work area. The bathroom was small. The shower door would hit the toilet if you were not careful opening it. The next morning there was a fire alarm, just as I was getting out of the shower. There were no instructions. We quickly got dressed and left the building. I took the opportunity to clear the snow off my car and move it in the mostly unplowed parking lot. It turns out the alarm sounded longer than necessary as nobody seemed to know how to turn it off; my wife had to ask someone to do it. We had a reservation for breakfast the morning of the fire alarm at the Copper Grouse and found that the restaurant closed for the rest of the morning and lunch due to the kitchen fire. No one contacted us to let us know of the closing. They did have our cell phone number with the reservation. We had to drive to another restaurant to get breakfast. We did have the opportunity to eat at the Cooper Grouse, the next morning and we were not impressed. Our server was inattentive, I had to ask for my my juice three times, and the glass was empty for an extended period until I was able to flag down our server. The food came out at odd times, with the sausage arriving at least five minutes after everything else. We thought the food was OK, but over-priced for what you received. The coffee was lukewarm, and the server rarely checked to give me more in the small cup. No servers were checking us, and it was difficult to flag anyone down. Finally, we were not happy with the $35 per day resort fee which is supposed to include internet, parking and other normal things. The internet was the worse that I have used in a long time. I usually stream my favorite radio station, but at least once, the wifi kept cutting out making it impossible to use. For $35, I can't even get a bottle of water upon check in? Please! The evening glass of wine was nice the first night, but we had an event the next day, so we missed that free glass on the resort fee. All the staff were courteous and friendly, but need some serious training in attending to guests and managing the facility, e.g., partial snow clearing, fire alarm procedures and management, etc. On a positive note, we found the Silver Fork (next door) and Bob's Diner were great places to eat. We would skip the Copper Grouse and find another place to stay for our next visit to the area. read more

Originally, we were supposed to stay at The Equinox Resort but when our room had no air conditioning, we were told to either tough it out over night in an 80 degree room or check out. Check out we did. I immediately called over to The Taconic Hotel. I spoke with Mark in reservations. I explained that we were supposed to stay 6 nights but could not stay where we were. He found us a room at The Taconic, called the front desk, and let them know we were coming right over. when we arrived, they were so kind and understanding. Check in was a breeze and we were in our air conditioned room in no time. The hotel is beautiful and pet friendly. There is ample parking, beautifully decorated rooms and they have the friendliest staff. Each morning, you head to the lobby for complimentary coffee and tea. All day long you can help your self to ice cold refreshing water. The happy hour was my husbands favorite time of day. Having a nice glass of wine/beer, sitting on the rocking chairs overlooking the Vermont mountains in the distance. My favorite was the fire pit! You will not be disappointed in this hotel. We are currently planning our next trip up to the The Taconic. read more

Not a fan. Best part was the water pressure in the shower. Bed was comfortable. Other than that, big - Checked in having requested a mtn. view room. Put me on the 2nd floor looking at Main Street. Yup, listened to traffic evening and morning. Ate at the hotel's restaurant. Beet salad and a piece of salmon for the low low price of $30. Expected a huge salad for that price. And that would be a "no". Cocktails were small as well. Really small. When I checked out, there was a $35 resort charge. For what? No one shared that with me upon check-in. Had it removed but for goodness sake at least let your guests know up front. It was my first time there. Was traveling through on business. Oh, no desk in the room. We came to Manchester, VT for a simple weekend away and had friends recommend The Taconic. The gentleman who checked us in was super professional and thorough and really gave us great information about the hotel and the area. Very friendly. The Inn is so clean and inviting with big comfy library chairs and a hot cocoa station- however it was empty by 5 and when asked to refill they were "unable" to- which is strange. A lot of kids were using up all the cocoa and I would have loved some after braving the VT cold. Hotel is dog friendly- which we live- even though our pooch didn't make the trip this time. Our room was immaculate with a beautiful bathroom and cozy fireplace. It's a small room for the $$$ paid and my husband made a point to say the fireplace almost felt wasted because it was only a few feet from the bed. In order to enjoy it- you would have to sit at the edge of the bed to get the romantic feel. You couldn't sit in front of it with your drink and enjoy the fireplace. And it is $$$. There is a daily resort fee but I'm not sure for what. We didn't use the exercise room or outdoor anything and there are no meals included. You're paying for the atmosphere but you are paying over $600 nightly. That's quite a lot read more

We enjoyed our weekend at the Kimpton Taconic in Manchester. We spent one night in a standard room before the hotel upgraded us to a king suite due to their availability and Amex card privileges. Both rooms were clean, fresh, and had features that made our stay more enjoyable, such as Chromecast to watch Netflix and a fireplace in the suite. The hotel staff is helpful, courteous, pleasant, and willing to accommodate. They brought us extra pillows upon our request, and one night, they even made a fire for us to enjoy in the fireplace by the lobby. One note of caution: this hotel has a significant amount of dogs due to the dog-friendly pet policy. The property may not be for those who are bothered by baking or for those who have allergies to dogs. Our room was cleaned as the desk assured us upon checking in; however, I still found myself sneezing, coughing, and itchy from the dog hair. To make this a 5-Star the hotel could consider putting aside a set number of rooms that are non-pet, so they can be available by request by people who have allergies. read more

This hotel is amazing... Stay here! It's a no brainier. The Equinox is tired and not really an atmosphere present.. unlike here! There is a little shop inside as well as a full on cocktail bar with fabulous bartenders and waiting staff. Don't be scared to just stay in the hotel and work your way through the cocktail menu! Board games are also available in the living room area. For food there is a new chef serving up good breakfasts and dinner's and has desserts of the day they make special, chicken wings with maple glaze are amazing, roast chicken is huge dish and the burger is the bomb! The rooms are new and cosy.. with a yoga mat, walking stick, umbrella and dressing gowns in your wardrobe for whatever activity you might have planned!! .. and an ironing board but that's less interesting! They also have a social hour 5pm-6pm so make sure you factor this in to your plans! We came to Manchester pretty much because we saw that Kimtpon had opened a property here. Taconic is honestly one of, if not the best, Kimtpon hotels I've been to. The hotel still feels very much brand new. The interiors are beautiful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. And every single staff member was fantastic. We stayed in a Fireplace King room. The fireplace was a fun novelty. Not the most useful as we came when there was fairly warm fall weather, but I would definitely choose this room type again if I were coming in the winter. I'm not a fan of the resort fee they charge here and hope this doesn't become the norm Kimtpon-wide, but for how great this property is I can forgive it for now. read more

All you need in a business hotel - yoga mat, kettle, ironing board, clean room and responsive staff. Nice gym as well. Housekeeping does a very good and fast job. We just had some small issues that the hotel staff quickly fixed - therefore only 4/5. Plus gym was a little dirty when we first saw but it had been cleaned up (someone probably spilled their protein shake...) Room tip: NOT overlooking the Main Street. Mountain View sounds like a good idea but it's too noisy. Unless you don't care about noise. And hotel is dog friendly. read more

I really don't get the glowing reviews for this pretty mediocre hotel. I am clearly not a Kimpton-type guest, something someone at the front desk said when I explained I'm allergic to dogs and there was dog hair everywhere (note, an awful lot of dogs have clearly slept on the beds in the rooms, if my sneezing was any indication). So, if you like to overspend on a hotel and bring your fancy dog, stay here! I think everyone had dogs, they barked a bit but weren't terribly behaved, and I understand very few hotels cater to dog+human travelers. I really do think this chain makes sense for dog people. They do have electric car parking out front and the staff are quite attentive. The gym was nice and clean. I had to ask for a coffee maker for the room. They have them, but only on request. We had room service breakfast and it arrived after the requested time and was a little cold. Pancakes were quite tasty! The wine/fancy drinks hour was really classy and quite enjoyable in front of the fireplace. Note that if you're on the 2nd floor above the ballroom you'll hear every song played by the DJ on the floor below. Music ended at 10:30 but if I were trying to go to bed early I'd be pretty miserable. The room had a really weird bathroom - the door was glass so if you turned the light on at night your companion would get lit up, too. There was no fan in the bathroom! And the shower couldn't be turned on before you got in which means you need to do that weird turn on, jump back, wall hug thing until the water heats up enough. I stayed here because my friend got married in the hotel and the reason I am not giving fewer stars is because they really knocked it out of the park for her wedding. The space was very pretty and there were several nice spots in the hotel for photos. It was a little odd having people walking in and out despite a huge wedding in progress, but that was literally the only downside - and it was trivial. Melissa, the staffer in charge of the wedding, was excellent. She directed all of us efficiently and graciously. The front desk stocked last minute necessities including static guard! It was clear many of the vendors were familiar with the hotel as a venue and that contributed to everything moving quite seamlessly. The bridal suite where we all got ready was spacious and perfect for hair, make up, champers and pre-wedding pics. The food at the Copper Grouse was delicious and we had room delivery that came promptly. To sum it up: if you're looking for a wedding spot, this seems like a great location with reliably good staff and vendors available. If you're looking for a hotel in this part of VT, I suspect you can do much better on the price and find something clean unless you like traveling with your canine companion. read more

Piper met us fresh from his bed, check in was a breeze...But why have Kimptons introduced a 'resort fee'? We wanted to stay at this new Kimpton outpost as we have seen it developing over the last few months. Daisy Doo in particular likes Kimpton hotels as she gets to stay for free and thinks their dog treats are great. They had a 'locals' rate for an overnight stay which was very reasonable, but the newly implemented 'Resort Fee' irritated us. More on this later... Well the bedroom (we were upgraded) had a fireplace, not that we needed it as we hit a 24c March day in Manchester....which is unheard of. The reception team made us feel most welcome and we were soon showered (in a very spacious bathroom) and down in the bar supping an excellent pint of Zero Gravity Conehead...which led to 2 more pints for me! The bar restaurant area is cozy and all the staff seem happy to chat and were very personable. Our sleep in the king bed aided by the Conehead beverages was good, but we did find the room a little warm due to the unusually warm day. A lazy start the next day with a friendly check out from Connie & James, sent us onto the Village Butcher where we purchased our supper. After a couple of stops for clothes in the Outlets we aimed our vehicle back to Woodstock in the warm spring rain. We will return....and Piper is the chefs wee doggie! One small observation...Kimpton Hotels seem to have introduced a 'resort fee' to pay for the wine hour, free wifi etc. I feel this is a bit of a con as these items used to be free for 'In Touch' members....so why don't they simply charge a more realistic price for the room for the sake of transparency? It was only $20.00 + tax but I think this type of practice does not make for good client relations. read more

Wow, I get to be the first guest to review the brand new Taconic Hotel! I actually arrived in the middle of their grand opening party. Since the hotel is brand new, service was impeccable- all staffers really went the extra mile. The property is GORGEOUS- just look at the pictures! I'm blown away at how the decor and architecture fits right in with Manchester Village- it is both grand and cozy at the same time. I grew up in Vermont and have been visiting Manchester off and on since I was a child, though I have not visited for the past few years. It is everything I would want when I visit New England...it captures the classic elegance but natural ruggedness of Vermont. My visit is just before Christmas, so Mother Nature delivered and covered the hotel in snow, just so I could get a glimpse of snowy weather amongst the beautiful Christmas decorations. The front porch with rocking chairs looks like it would be a wonderful spot to just hang out and chat, or watch the traffic driving by. The rooms are beautiful and representative of the quality and standards of the Kimpton brand. Everything is also new and state of the art, so while the decorations may be indicative of old times, the technology (Wifi, bright lights, fast elevators, plentiful electric plugs on night stands, etc.) is the very latest and greatest for everyone's convenience...let's face it, even if we may want to "rough" it in Vermont, we still want access to high speed internet. The closet in the room was also representative of Kimpton with items to use during the hotel stay- yoga mat, walking stick, umbrella and cushy bathrobes. I'm typing this while sitting in a comfy chair in the hotel so I will add on to the review later as my stay progresses. As with all Kimptons, there is a free wine happy hour in the late afternoons and several armchair areas (including an outdoor firepit area) to sit and enjoy the wine and light snacks. The lobby and front desk staff were amongst the friendliest I've encountered at any hotel...doorman always opened the door for me, and the front desk offering greetings at all times of the day. I reviewed the Copper Grouse separately...having a good onsite restaurant is very convenient...I loved not having to leave the hotel for dinner. Plenty of parking onsite, just a short stroll from the front entrance. Very convenient location, just a few minutes away from the outlet stores in Manchester. read more

My family just spent a long weekend at this wonderful hotel. The hotel and the staff were so friendly and kind. A big shout out to Jennifer at the front desk. The Hotel was charming yet modern. Excellent (and new) hotel. A part of the Kimpton Hotel chain. A chain I had never heard of during my 25 years of traveling. But I will definitely use them again. All of the staff is super friendly and willing to do everything to make your visit a pleasant stay. I only had to open the front door 2 times in the 3 days we stayed here. This hotel is pretty new, so the room was very clean and fresh. The food is excellent in the Copper Grouse, which is quite the happening hot spot at night. On the fence about coming back to this one. We are big fans of Kimpton, but this one missed the mark. 5 stars when it comes to the decor and atmosphere! This place is stunning! Might possibly be one of the nicest designed places we have stayed. Unfortunately that is where it ended for us.... To begin, I had purchased a gift card from Kimpton so I could surprise my wife with the trip. The front desk would not honor the gift card over the phone when making the reservation. After dealing with management on the phone they agreed to have me pay in full for the room then issue a refund once we were at the hotel... slight inconvenient but no big deal. When I arrived I wanted to square this away at check-in... they would not. They made me wait till check-out which was annoying because we just wanted to leave (left extra early to avoid hitting a storm) The room was cozy... but DO NOT spend the extra money on the fireplace. The flame comes up maybe 1-2 inches, so you cant even tell there is a fire unless you get off the bed and look. One glass was dirty, and a hand towel had black makeup on it. The worst part was we received NO room service! We were there 4 days and our room was never cleaned or restocked with towels etc. We left the room between 9-10am every day and made sure we removed the "do not disturb" sign. I will be addressing all concerns with Kimpton so they are aware. All in all this place has great potential. The lobby is gorgeous and has plenty of seating around the wood burning fireplace, we enjoyed the fire pit outside, and the restaurant Copper Grouse was amazing! I would be hesitant however to return because they missed the mark on some pretty key aspects of hospitality. Hopefully management will take note. read more

Beautiful, well appointed hotel. Super friendly and helpful staff!! Stayed 2 nights. Very nice, quiet rooms. Were given complimentary beverage cards for social hour hosted each night by the hotel. We were also surprised with champagne delivered to our room, also compliments of the hotel. Valet service is offered, and dogs are welcome. All staff was very friendly and went over and above!!! I was a Kimpton loyalist for years, after they were bought by the IHG the brand suffered and I've since stopped staying at their NYC properties, Ink48, Muse and Eventi. The Mr. wanted to visit some friends in Manchester, so we decided to book at the Taconic... our previous stay was quite good a few years back. We thought it would be worth seeing if a non-Urban Kimpton maintained some of the hospitality the brand was known for.. we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived through checkout, wow. Staff were outstanding. They paid attention to our preferences, our room was well appointed, quiet. The entire hotel is a beautiful space. The hotel bar was lovely, I wish we had stayed for dinner! Even the valet and doorman were genuinely friendly. It is a great hotel. Thanks for the warm welcome and a great birthday celebration, Taconic. We'll be seeing you, again. read more

I'd stayed at a Kimpton before in Palm Beach (although they appear to have cut ties with that hotel in Florida at the moment) and it was a great experience, so that's why I was anticipating that this would be a good place to stay, and I was right! The Pros It's located in the middle of a very small town. Free iced coffee and tea in the morning in the lobby. They left some champagne and a gift for our dog in our room upon our arrival because it was her birthday and our anniversary. They have a gorgeous, wrap-around front porch with rocking chairs. (It rained one night while we were sitting on the front porch and maybe that doesn't sound romantic, but oh man... listening to rainfall on a wrap-around Victorian porch in late summer should be on every person's checklist at some point in life.) They have free bikes you can sign out from the lobby. They're extremely dog-friendly (ie. no extra charge & they got Baby Dog a GIFT for christsake). They have a (small, but still great) pool. They have a free wine & small snacks reception every night from 5-6pm, which was lovely. Their restaurant The Copper Grouse had really good food (especially the chicken) We were able to secure one of the more private cottage-type rooms that sit right next to the hotel itself, and it was extremely private. It's extremely near Mount Equinox, where you can drive up the mountain along the Skyline Drive for incredible views of the town. The Cons Make sure to inquire about the resort fees before booking in, just to make sure you budget accordingly. The pool closes a little earlier than I'd liked, but what can you do! So, so glad we stayed here! Definitely recommended. read more

We stayed here for one night while on a road trip. As a Fan of the Kimpton chain, this hotel stands up to the brand. They provide little touches that make the stay even better - wine hour, treats for canine guests, and bikes to use around town. Our dinner at the restaurant was excellent and our room was comfortable and very clean. read more

This hotel is great, I love it. It's a good alternative to the Equinox although the Equinox remains #1 for best hotel in Manchester in my opinion (see my review there). The rooms and overall atmosphere here is great and very modern. The rooms are smaller than the Equinox but slightly more modern & luxurious. The staff and design of the hotel is amazing as well. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the restaurant. It use to be so good and the prices were in par with a 4/5 star hotel. However, they have recently lost their head chef and prices are quite unreasonable considering what you're getting and the quality. I hope the restaurant improves to what it once was, until then I'll only be staying here, not dining. read more
