We went here twice during our recent trip (June 2026). We loved the place -- it really stood out for creative flavor combos with toppings + shave ice + syrups. Overall, it was our top ranked shave ice place in Kauai (tied for first) for our trip. Here was our ranking. Kauai Shave Ice Rankings 2026 1. (Tied) North Shore Bowls in Kilauea - very enjoyable and creative pre-designed flavor combos, nice fluffy ice, good ice cream, flavorful syrups 1. (Tied) Wailua Shave Ice - very enjoyable and creative pre-designed flavor combos, delicious toppings, very good ice texture and ice cream; too light on the syrup for one of our two trips 3. Wishing Well in Hanalei - good fluffy ice and really flavorful natural syrups; downside is it's very crowded (always!) and pretty basic 4. JoJo's in Hanalei - this is a standard shave ice place; ice was a bit compact and icy, but the syrup was plentiful (maybe too much, if you can believe that, for our one visit) and the ice cream was both generous and good 5. Hee Fat in Kapaa - great flavors but the syrup was light coverage, and the ice cream seemed gummy/freezer burned, ice was decent texture; used to be our favorite in Kauai in years past, but it hasn't kept up with other places and maybe the quality has gone down hill 6. Honu Shave Ice in Kapaa - syrup was very light, almost nonexistent on one of our shave ices, ice was clumpy/chunky, ice cream was really minimal, flavors were decent read more

So I've been hearing about açaí bowls for a long time but never tried one. The last couple years the recommendations ramped up, specifically naming North Shore Bowls. I drive by it almost daily but because I thought it was just a giant fruit bowl never stopped. I didn't understand! Yesterday, my friend Lee who I trust with my life tells me, "I had the best veggie and bacon sandwich there. You gotta go!" Since my other friend was visiting from Tahiti he was telling her about the bowls. She says, "Now I'm craving açaí bowl!" Ok perfect, we go! We order two pulled pork sandwiches and one large Nene Goose with coconut flakes and honey drizzle. I was just going to have my sandwich but she's say, "I got two spoons, just try!" OMG, it was not at all what I thought it would be. It was insanely tasty. I ended up eating half of hers. The pulled pork was incredible too. Very filling and delicious. My sister's in town and I ask her if she's ever had one to which she said "no". So we pile in the car and again it was out of this world. My brother in law got the K-Town- stupid good too. They leave on Monday and We're already planning on going tomorrow morning for breakfast. Definitely won't get sick of them. Now, about the girls who work there- absolute honeys. We got the Nene Goose açaí bowl- it was very fruity and great. No savory elements though, so if you like having a savory element to your açaí bowls you should pick a different one. There was fruit, honey, granola, and açaí base. There is outdoor seating. The inside area is rather small, no seating indoors. Came here for lunch with my husband after doing the Princeville Botanical Garden tour ,and this place was so refreshing and delicious! I got the long man acai bowl and it was full of fruit, granola, and the cacao nibs. The service was fast (I think we got our food within like 5 mins) and there's some picnic tables around the side where you can munch. It feels very quintessentially Kauai, and is literally in a random neighborhood. Parking is easy though! and wasn't crowded at all on a weekday. I 10/10 will return. We were looking forward to getting some shaved ice or something cool to eat after we stopped for lunch. We found North Shore Bowls and knew we wouldn't be disappointed. They had 7-8 choices of bowls to choose from, however, when we ordered, some of the choices weren't available. We settled for a churro bowl (the churros turned out to be Cinnamon Toast Crunch) with ice cream and we chose three flavors for the shaved ice bowl. They were done within 10 minutes of ordering. They had a nice seating arrangement just outside the restaurant with plants. It was a nice scene. We got our bowls fast and were able to sit at their picnic tables to enjoy them. read more

I have been wanting to come here for a while and I'm so glad I finally got around to stopping by. I got the longman acai bowl and I will say, this is the best acai bowl I've had while being on island. I tried a few other places and this one had them beat!! The acai base was very flavorful and the ingredients were all fresh. I shared the bowl with my girlfriend and we both really enjoyed the flavors and portion size. The bowl came out very quickly despite there being a few bowls made before ours. The girl at the front was very considerate letting us know she was there to answer any questions while we decided what to order. What a great place! It's small yet just the type of establishment that makes Hawaii special. They have a bunch of choices for bowls, smoothies and other items, but we came for shave ice... and it was GOOD. I had the larger one at $7 with half coconut and half ppineapple. Ed had a smaller one with ice cream added with half guava and half Creamsicle. It was so delicious and refreshing and the service... awesome. So friendly and kind and fun. We we're looking for Happa's Shvave, ice, and we aren't sure if they combined at this place or not. Regardless, they had shave ice and it was delicious. I also enjoyed a cold brew. Someone in our group got the ice cream nachos and they were very good and it was such a fun way to eat ice cream. Highly recommend. O.M.G. without a doubt the BEST acai I've ever had! I had the nene goose bowl, it was pretty good. They got some cool merch. The only thing is...yelp and their sign says they open at 10, but they have a big closed sign, and a tiny note that said they open at 11. If they would have changed that or adjusted their listed hours it would be better so customers know when they do actually open.
