The setup to order was oddly positioned, but seems like you'd order where the line forms and then pickup closer to the street, however the set up isn't that way. The first time we tried to stop by it was super hot and the line was oh so long! We decided to try another coffee shop instead and come back on a less busy day. We came back and the line was just as long but I was determined to try this place (for science lol!) I had Bob stand in line while I went down the street with my kiddo to pick up our delicious donuts from The Donut Experiment. When we returned he was still in line to be fair they did have a large fan which made it a little cooler. When we arrived at the window I ordered my usual dirty chai, Bob got his fav a matcha and my kiddo got a classic smoothie. This was THE BEST COFFEE we had (by far) on the island (and we tried several places). The place is absolutely beautiful and the outside space is incredible. The branding is really great and the merch selection is really next level. Now to tell on myself, when we went to order, my wedding ring accidentally dropped into a small crack between the deck boards under the counter. I panicked but the owner (Scott) and his wife were super gracious and said they'd get somebody there to pull up a board so I could get it. Thankfully there was a contractor across the street that was able to fish it out. Crisis averted! Thanks again Scott! She wasn't rude to just us - she was rude to every single person who walked into the SUPER tiny shop. We asked for help looking at a necklace and were told "honey you can do it yourself ".... Then we took a look at some shirts and were scolded being told "umh those are stock, you can look at what's hanging ".....okey dokey. Another young lady asked if the trinkets at the counter were glass to which the employee responded "umh nope, actually they are plastic". This place has a large lobby with cash registers and A/C and looks like you can order inside but for some reason they make you order and pick up from a window outside. If this place was located right on the beach that would make sense but it's not. And while the patio has shade and is very chill the place to order outside has zero. If you're the business owner and you're reading this I would kindly recommend you put up some type of shade, tarp, fans or something because standing in that line in this Florida heat and humidity for a coffee is brutal! I ordered a latte with oat milk and added hazelnut and caramel flavor. After waiting about 30 min in line and another 20+ for the 2 coffees and açaí bowl to come out the coffee was just okay. After seeing the long line and wait I truly was hoping it was going to be some out of this world coffee, but sadly that was not the case. It wasn't bad, just very simple to the point where I barely could taste the flavor and they forgot the oat milk too. They have parking but not a lot of spaces but there are spaces on the street. I love the aesthetic of the area with ample outdoor seating overlooking a waterway. This review is based on a very short experience so take what you will out of it. We visited AMI for the weekend and we realized it's not the most dog friendly place. It's just a bummer in particular for us because we're used to places being dog friendly in St Pete. This happened to be another business that only allows service animals. Which I guess that's on us for not checking beforehand. Since we were already there, one of the people in our party stayed outside with the dog while the rest of us attempted to check out the store and the restaurant. Upon entering, we were not greeted, no one was helpful or answering questions, and it was honestly very discouraging and we did not feel welcomed. This place is in a cozy little spot tucked in and bordering a river which makes for some very scenic views while enjoying breakfast. The staff was absolutely exceptional, but there were some things that they could have done differently in order to better serve their customers. Pros: The food was very delicious! I ordered an avocado toast with a poached egg on top and my friend ordered yogurt with peanut butter, coconut shavings, bananas and strawberry slices. The staff was all very friendly and made sure to answer any questions we had about ordering. The outside eating area is very cute and while it was hot outside, we sat by the water for a bit before we needed to find shade. Cons: The layout of this café is a nightmare. Guests were not allowed inside even though it was clear they were before, and you have one window which people order and pick up food at. You stand in a line and at the same window while we were trying to order, another worker was shouting people's names. What they could have done is had people order inside, walk outside and then pick up their food at the window. There were a ton of workers in the kitchen so we were not sure why my toast took 15 minutes to make but maybe they were behind as it was a Saturday morning. If this place could logistically look at their layout and work process, I think it would have a much better flow. read more
