Years of loyalty, but no response after X-rays and insurance claim…read more I've been a loyal patient of Dr. Joanne Butler for many years and always appreciated her care, but this recent experience has completely changed my view. Over a month ago, I went in for a maintenance visit and a crown had broken. She explained that she would submit the claim to my insurance and, based on coverage, either repair it or refer me elsewhere. She also took X-rays and an impression for a bite guard. Since that appointment, I've called several times and have not received a single return call. (On one occasion I managed to speak with Ed her husband/office manager but still no callback) Its extremely disappointing to be ignored after so many years as a patient. If the problem was that my insurance didn't pay enough, that should have been discussed honestly--not avoided. What's worse is that X-rays and other services were billed to my insurance, yet there has been no communication, plan, or care provided. I expected better treatment and respect from a practice I trusted for so long. I'll be taking my care elsewhere.

I had the root canal done by an endodontist in July and then it took months for her to finally get back to me and booked an appt for late Sept. When I arrived at the office, she had an elderly man as her reception who is actually her husband tell me that I had to pay out of pocket $1050, or she cannot see me. My insurance requires no copayment as she is a in network provider with my insurance co. I told him I want a copy of the bill at that time I seen she billed and was paid for service that I did not receive. I contacted my ins co and filed a grievance against her. I have also read on google, Healthgrades and other sights of other patients with similar bogus experiences with her. I wish I would have read her ratings before going to her. If you have experienced her scam, please contact your insurance co, don't let her continue to get away with billing for service she hasn't rendered or over charging.

The filling was done improperly as well, but the infection persisted for weeks. Poor and uninformed follow up. After losing faith in Manhasset Dental Arts I went to another dentist in the city who immediately addressed the issue and validated how horrible a job the prior dentist had done both on the simple procedure and the follow up. She's a very high pressure sales person professing to be caring. And a very low performance, low quality Dentist. The work she did on my mouth in supposedly as she put it "cleaning things up" before actually doing any of the work that I wanted done was ridiculously excessive and I was charged $7000. She effectively drilled to pieces every good tooth I had in my head and left me in incredible pain right before I was going into surgery for a mastectomy. I had no idea of the extent she intended to do because she didn't communicate that at all, she just said she was going to "clean things up" in my mouth. I was completely shocked at what she did and then the restorations she did were appalling they didn't fit, there are gaps, colors don't match and numerous areas that were incredibly painful, she broke off a cap and honestly, she was so rough in her execution, I left there feeling like I had been assaulted. I couldn't even drink tepid water without pain, hot and cold food was so painful. I was too terrified to go back to her to get them adjusted because I just didn't know how much more damage she was going to do to my mouth. I found a very good dentist in Brooklyn who fixed the cap that she completely broke off temporarily, it will now need an implant and re did the three very painful teeth. I lost yet another tooth because she destroyed so much of it and I had to get another expensive cap. She did this to me, knowing that I was actively being treated for breast cancer and she made it impossible for me to eat anything or even drink tepid water comfortably for three months. I had to wait until I was past the surgery before I could find a new dentist and get to him. He just completed the work last week. I can't begin to express what an awful experience this has been and how it has made this dreadful year even worse. I can't believe I was taken advantage of by such a charlatan when I was so ill and charged so much money for absolutely appalling destruction of my teeth. I would sue her, but I don't have the time or the resources right now as I'm going through chemo and honestly if I ever saw her again, I don't know what I would do because I am so incredibly angry.
