I'll guess we'll start here - I called Gabriel the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend (my wife and I realized the door had come off track when we got back in town and would not close at all). I figured the best thing that could happen was he would set up something later in the week. Gabriel was coming back into Raleigh from visiting his family and said he'd be out first thing Monday morning. He showed up very prompt and professional, got our door back on track, and then let me know of some things that would soon need replacing. From there, we decided to go ahead and move forward with parts replacement and again - he was very prompt, courteous, and quick with his work. He's a pleasure to work with and has a lifetime warranty on everything he does/repairs/replaces. I would give him and North State more than 5 stars if it were possible! I can't recommend them enough! I called to schedule an appointment on a Sunday (YES-they answered the phone!!!) when the spring on my door broke. The young lady was very professional in scheduling an appointment for me the next day, Monday. As promised, Gabriel and Roberto showed up on time and evaluated the issue. Unfortunately, my garage door was a "Wayne-Dalton", which uses a propriety spring design (which broke after only a couple of years usage). Gabriel advised that he could install a stronger spring which would last longer (he backed up his words by giving me a lifetime warranty on the spring). He did have to order the spring, but he and Roberto showed up the next day, at the appointed time (after 5:30, as I had to work) and completed the repair. The work was done quickly, professionally, and the cost was less than anticipated. I would recommend this firm to anyone looking for a repair to their garage door! read more

Another 5 STAR review! Gabriel was fantastic. Called him on a Thursday, quoted me a price for installing electric eye sensors on my 26 year old garage door opener. Only $50 for materials and labor! I had to ask him twice when I heard that price because it seemed too low. He arrived the next day and attempted to hook them up. Alas my opener was too old and was not compatible. He told me that Lowes carried a Chamberlain for $128. I went and bought it, he installed the new opener. It came with only 1 remote, so he offered to sell me an additional remote for $3 UNDER his cost at $20. I've now had 2 great experiences with North State. A year ago my TorqueMaster spring broke late on Friday night. Called North State on Saturday, and Gabriel was able to install a better torsion spring on Sunday afternoon. We ended up moving to a new home last year, and we just went thru the exact same experience! The torquemaster spring at the new house broke on Sunday, and Gabriel was able to come out Monday morning to install a new torsion spring. We were in a bind because both cars were stuck in the garage and I couldn't lift the heavy door. Gabriel does excellent work, plus he's friendly and knowledgable. I plan to use North State again next time I have any garage door issues! read more

Our 20 year old door opener stopped working. The obvious problem was a stripped gear, but what caused the gear to fail. Looked like lots of opportunities for me to get something out of adjustment or mash a finger doing the replacement myself. Called Gabriel because of good reviews here. He certainly is deserving of the 5 star rating. I got an appointment the next day, with a 2 hour window. He was on time, fixed the obvious problem & suggested some maintenance to keep things running. The owner came to my house today to do an emergency fix on my door. One thing that stood out to me was the professionalism. I had to leave the house before my appointment so I had left the garage door open rather than just leave he contacted me and asked if it was ok for him to go in and look at the door. He then provided me a run down of the parts that would required to fix it. Since I was still not home he was nice enough to come back later to show me what all was fixed. Saved by this company & Gabriel today. Pulled my car into the garage and spring gave a loud bang and broke. Trapped my car inside (as a hurricane approaches) couldn't even open the door manually. Called one company and they weren't going to be able to come until next week! Called Gabriel and he came within 20 minutes working me in between two other appts. Gabriel gave me free estimate that was lower in cost compared to other. He provided good suggestion and information on door opener I selected. He came and installed it at cheapest rate. Month later, some how my car remote for door opener lost connection. When I called him, he was going to come fix with no charge. I insisted on any suggestion I can try before he comes. North State Garage Doors restored me thinking of repair companies. The day before a contractor dropped a box and dislodged the garage door beam. North State came out and quickly figured that the wiring was broken. TJ cut the broken wire and had it working in a couple of minutes. He was extremely polite and friendly. I had North State come out and adjust my garage door recently.. Gabriel did a fantastic job! I called him back as the garage door raising, was still sticking, if you will, upon opening. Gabriel was great! Responsive, prompt, professional, and reasonably priced. After fixing our major problem (broken spring) he noticed that our chain was really loose (and it really was -- I'd just gotten so used to that clanking noise that it seemed normal), and fixed that too. Glad to avoid that future headache and I doubt we'll need garage door service again for awhile, but if we do I would certainly call on North State again. read more

Gabriel and his brother are thoroughly competent, professional and polite. THey upgraded an old (broken) 2-spring system to the newer and safer single torsion spring.
