They gave a firm quote, easily scheduled the time, and performed the work quickly. Would use them again.

I generally hesitate to leave such a bad review for a business with so few reviews, but this was…read morethe WORST customer service my family and I have experienced thus far. To be fair: I directly interacted with Kate myself only once, but I was witness to the continued attempts by my family to get her to do a simple garage door opener installation. We bought the garage door opener kit from Lowe's and gave Kate a call. She gave us an installation estimate of $100 and said that she could come install in 3 days. She said she could be there between 3-5 PM on the day of installation. She actually showed up at 7:30 PM. We were worried so we called her that evening a total of 3 times. The first two times, my mom answered. Now, my mom's English isn't the best as she's got an accent, but it is definitely understandable. The first time my mom called, Kate told her it was the wrong number. She called the number on her card again and this time, Kate gave her a rather rude "I can't understand you" and hung up. I called her the third time, to which Kate VERY rudely said, "This is my cell phone! Why do you people keep calling me??!" ....Oddly enough, she called us back in a few minutes saying she would be at the installation (2.5 hours late). To cut a long story short, Kate was not able to install the door opener that evening. She claimed the chain was too short. So then, my dad went to Lowe's and got an exchange. He also measured the chain length on EVERY unit sold, and it was all the same. At this point, we were a little suspicious as to whether Kate could actually install a garage door. She made various (almost hilariously unbelievable) excuses for our last attempt to have her come install. Now this was the THIRD time we scheduled for her to come out. She did not even show up. My dad called her again prior to meeting and she said she couldn't find her car keys. She did not call us to let us know this, and she did not answer any calls after that. We are beyond disappointed in the "service" that this company offered. She failed to install a garage door opener and after taking 50% of the service fee and 3 separate installation dates, refused to answer our calls. Please think twice if you want to use Kate's Garage Doors.

I have used a number of garage door repair services to repair my garage doors and I must truthfully…read moresay that Kate's Garage Doors were absolutely the best in service repair and customer service. I found their service to be fast, honest and dependable, I feel that there was a connection made the moment I met them, just a real pleasure to do business with. Joe did a fantastic job installing my new garage door opener and explaining how everything works. Kate took a look at my garage doors and suggested that I get new doors after I mentioned that I might be selling the house and because my garage doors were in really bad shape. I'm looking forward to continue doing business with this company, their prices are definitely something that are both reasonable and affordable, they are simply THE BEST!

    Horton Overhead Garage Doors

When I needed garage door repairs they were wonderful! Joey Horton responded within minutes of my…read moreestimate request. He came the next day and was able to make the repairs on the spot. I even used his cousin. He too was quick to respond, did a fabulous job at a very reasonable price. For either of those services, I highly recommend them. However, I got an estimate from the business owner - Danny Horton - for repairs to my screened porch. The estimate was reasonable, as were all the other services I'd received up to that point. He said the job would take 3 days. HA! That couldn't be further from the truth! He'd show up for a couple of hours at a time. It was very hot during that time, so I said nothing. Then, he just stopped showing up. I sent text messages that were ignored. Finally, after about 2 weeks of no shows, Joey called and said his father hadn't been around because of rain. I waited and waited then waited more. Two weeks...three weeks since it last rained and nothing. He didn't show up and he didn't contact me. Finally, I contacted someone who painted the porch for me in the past and he will be finishing the job for me. This has got to be the worst experience I've ever had with a company. This was really bad, and there is more. Since he had wood and equipment (paint cans, saw horses, etc.) all over my yard, I couldn't water my grass (during a drought) or even have the grass cut. The grass was up to my knees when I contacted my landscaper to let him know he could cut my grass. My yard that I'd spent &3500 for sod is about 80% dead. I had to keep reminding Danny of work he was supposed to do. He was going to pick up from Lowe's the door and accessories needed for the porch. I finally had to call Lowe's to tell them he was going to pick up the order as I'd received the final notice. Before submitting the order to Lowe's, I showed it to Danny to ensure I was ordering the right things. Well, when it was time to prep the door, he told me that I had purchased the wrong things. This was done with a tone indicating blame. At this point, I was so frustrated with him that I ended up yelling at him - it takes a lot to anger me to that point. Once again, I checked with him to verify I was ordering the correct thing. I also put in for a refund on the original piece. Again, Danny agreed to pick up the new part and drop off the return item. No big surprise, I was getting final notices from Lowe's and Danny was MIA. I ended up picking up the order myself, but Danny had the return item so I couldn't take care of that part. This was all just before he went MIA again. It ended up being a month of no shows when I contacted the painter that I hired to do the job. Now, because of Danny's bs, it is going to cost me an extra $1000 for the porch and probably around $3000 to fix my yard. I have to admit, the best part of my weekend was calling to fire Danny. BEWARE of hiring Horton Overhead for any work outside of garage door. The only reason I gave the 2 stars is because the garage door and electrical work done was great. If I were rating Danny, I would give a negative 1000 stars if I could.

Update: Response to Owner…read more My agreement to hire DJ Horton was explicitly based on a verbal commitment that the rollers would be replaced alongside the springs. After accepting full payment, DJ failed to complete the rollers and omitted them from the final invoice. A professional business practice would have been to clarify any "extra" costs for the rollers before accepting the job and taking payment, rather than promising to return and then denying the agreement. I have the records to support my side. Future customers should be aware that verbal handshakes here may not be honored. Original Review: We hired this company to repair our garage door due to a broken spring, and they also agreed to replace the rollers as part of the job. They collected full payment but did not complete the work. Since then, I've made multiple attempts to contact DJ to schedule a time to finish what was promised, but my messages have gone unanswered. What's most frustrating is the lack of transparency. If they couldn't complete the full scope, that should have been communicated upfront rather than taking full payment and disappearing. And to me there is zero value in the services one delivers when they break the trust of the customer. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this business for garage door services.

It's time like this I wish I could give zero stars. Skylift was the installer for my new…read moreconstruction home. The door lasted all of 10 months before catastrophically failing. One day when my wife was backing out there was a large bang and all the top and bottom rollers flew off, and top panel was irreparably damaged. I believe there were maybe 3 rollers in the middle panel preventing a complete collapse. Upon calling skylift in to warranty their work, the technician accused me of sabotaging the door by placing a stick under it while closing (nevermind that built in safety mechanisms would have prevented the door from closing if that were the case, as was demonstrated at the arbitration hearing), and refused to do any repairs. On top of that the technician physically threatened me for not accepting his laughable excuse not to cover the door. I'm going to give you a quote from Skylift's official response: "The installation itself was done properly and to the manufacturer specifications and has operated properly for over a year [this is a lie, it was 10 months] with no documented warranty visits. It's not covered under out labor warranty or the manufacturer product warranty". First of all, the installation was not done properly according to independent third parties. Both a home inspector and company which performed repairs noted among other things that: 1) The tracks were too wide 2) The door was not tensioned properly. 3) The cable drum was not flush with the bearing plate. I believe that all of these things contributed to one of the cables jumping out of the drum and snagging, which then led to complete failure of the door. And second, these clowns were touting the fact that their brand new door in a brand new house almost made it a year without breaking as something to be proud of. Really, Skylift? Operating properly for almost a year is something you're proud of and to be used in your defense? Is that a record for Skylift or something? The garage door on my previous house was still working after 20+ years of service. I ended up going to arbitration under the warranty contract and winning, and even with a legal ruling in our favor we decided it was too risky to let these people work on the door. Our fear was that they'll probably just do the bare minimum, and in another year or so the door will pop out again, possibly on a car or worst case a child. That door was a ticking time bomb. Let that sink in: even after winning the arbitration process we decided it wasn't worth the safety risk to let these people near our house again. I highly recommend you go to a more reputable company who does proper installations and stands behind their work. Shame on you, Skylft!
