Sometimes, that makes you feel better and is more needed than the treatments! At a time when I feared losing my vision due to macular degeneration, she was reassuring and supportive , and always answers my never ending list of questions, and with patience. Another side of Dr. Sang that I recently learned about is her mentorship. There are a group of young college grads working there who are taking a gap year and preparing to get into medical school. She is so giving and proud of how many of these interns have gone on to great careers. Each time you go for an appointment, it's a "major production." There are so many steps in the process and I have come to understand why it takes so long -- they take no shortcuts! There is a huge staff that supports Dr. Sang and each one has a specialty, from the people who answer the phone and make appts. to the people who do complicated eye scans. I don't envy the appt. people as everyone seems to want a different time -- including me -- and it's hard to make everyone happy, although they try. I guess my only complaint is that I wish I could turn back Dr. Sang's clock about 25 years so that she'd be in practice for another 25+ years. They knew that I shouldn't mess around with something like that so they had me in right away. 20 minutes later I was at the office. The receptionist was super nice, it was interesting they took down my info on a typewriter(I haven't seen one of those in years) but there was something charming about it. When I went to see the doctor he was super nice and the whole office was really comforting in general. The whole experience was fantastic(even though my eye was hurting) but Dr Weissman gave me a prescription for some medicine and made sure I would be ok. Hopefully I don't have to go back but if I do at least it will be a nice experience. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.
