Most…read morerelationships don't even last that long, but the Doc and I have a good thing going, and I'm in it for the long haul. His office is very clean and has the latest diagnostic equipment. His secretary, Sasha, is super friendly, and Dr. Shriber is by far one of the kindest, most patient doctors you will ever meet. I'm not saying that I'm fussy, but when it comes to him asking me, "Which is better, 1 or 2? How about now, 1 or 2?". My response is always, "Can you do it again, Doc?" I don't know why. It's as if my eyes are always playing tricks on me. But his patience goes beyond the examinations. I swear it knows no bounds. I work on airplanes and once you hit 30,000 feet, these planes will suck all the moisture out of your body. And that extends to your eyes making your contact lenses uncomfortable to wear. Why not wear glasses then? I'm too vain. Anyway, there are contact lenses out there that advertise they are perfect for dry eyes. Over the years, I find them to be outright lies. So a couple of years ago, Dr. Shriber had me try a different pair every couple of weeks until I felt the contacts held enough moisture for my long haul flights. I remember saying to him, "Really? Aren't you going to get sick of seeing me?" No, he just wanted me to be happy with them. I went back 4 times before I finally placed my order. My last visit was a couple of weeks ago. 15 years later, I still LOVE going to this man. He is knowledgeable, generous, funny, and he also takes most insurance (if not all). Tons of street parking and a cheap public lot in the back ($ .50 an hour). If you need glasses, his office is connected to Gordon Optical which is run by his brother. Though I arrived on time and had filed all my paperwork in advance, I had to wait 3 hours before the doctor saw me. Only 30 minutes of that was spent with a technician doing tests. You're also forced to repeat everything three times -- to the tech, a fellow (this is a teaching practice), and the doctor. When I objected, the doctor said "this is how we do things." In short, as other reviewers have said, if you have at least 1/2 a day to spare, even to get 15 minutes with the doctor, this is the place for you.

From the initial consultation, the staff were friendly, patient and understanding of my nerves. On the day of my surgery, Dr. Giles was great and made me feel comfortable the entire time. The procedure took less than 20 minutes and was painless. After the procedure I experienced very little discomfort and after a few days, any discomfort I did have completely went away. I experienced dry eyes for the first week, but since then that has also gone away. Being able to see is the greatest gift and I am beyond grateful to TLC for giving me the gift of eyesight. If you are nervous to get LASIK, know that I was too, but wish I hadn't been so nervous because in the end I had such a positive experience.

I was a new patient today, first time in. I was really happy to get an appointment as I just called…read moreyesterday. While I was filling out the paperwork, I witnessed the receptionist, Anne, personally calling Tufts to help a client figure out her insurance plan. She was on the phone for about 10 minutes, then guided the woman through the next steps (calling MassHealth) in the office. I was very impressed with her generosity and specialized attention (we all know how hard insurance companies are to talk to). I went in for an eye infection and the doctor was nice and listened patiently while I gave him all the information. He checked out my vision, put gels in my eyes to see unhealthy spots on the surface, examined the oil glands around my eyes, dilated my pupils for testing, and took photos of my eyes for glaucoma testing. There was no co-pay or fees when I left, so I guess my insurance (Tufts Health Together) covered it all. The only feedback I could give to improve this practice is to give out those cheap paper sunglasses to patients if they get their pupils dilated. If I didn't have my own sunglasses with me then the sunny walk home would have been painful!

Unfortunately for me, that was only my first Chalazion of many and I eventually developed Blepharitis, which I see him for every 3-6 months. Over the course of the last five years, he's worked with me tirelessly to find relief for my condition & symptoms and never makes me feel self conscious about my relentless push to find a viable solution. He has a great manner about him, tons of insight and always thinks of different approaches when things aren't working and celebrates when things are. My condition has ups and downs, but I can always call at any time and they'll do their best to get me in as soon as possible. He then went onto say , the anesthesia nurse would place something in my mouth to open my airway. At first I didn't think this was strange since I've had prophepol before many times for colonoscopies and upper endoscopies. the next day I was recapping my notes I had taken and I know this isnot done for prophepol sedation. My 2 nd consult 4 months later , Dr.Kapadia says , he prefers to use local sedation with lidocaine injections in the eyelids where you are totally awake but do dot feel pain. He said he prefers this method bc he can ask the patient to open their eyes so he can see where to stitch and therefore create the eyelid crease. I said wow! this is totally different than what my first meeting covered. I said I would think about it however, I would probably prefer prophepol sedation . Dr.Kapadia then replied, well we can adjust the dose so you can sit up and open your eyes. I then emailed Dr.Kapadia 2 weeks after my 2 nd visit asking him if he provides the name of the anesthesia in writing . He has you sign a fee page stating if the patient is having anesthesia which is one price and another legal document if you choose to be awake with local anesthetic. The reason wanted this inserted in his document he wants you to sign is because , general anesthesia is riskier and other shorter acting anesthesia like Versed doesn't make me feel well afterwards. Prophepol agrees with me the best and is a lesser risk than general anesthesia. in fact, Dr.Kapadia should be thankful that a patient is divulging this info about what their experience with various types of anesthesia ! in fact it is less of a risk for him! Dr.Kapdaia responded to my email, by saying I didn't trust him and he could use general anesthesia or in fact any any anesthesia he feels the patient responds to. That's not how it's supposed to work! You don't wait until the patient is ready for surgery and guess or try different methods! Dr. Kapadia can't be trusted !My guess is when anesthesia is used, he does whatever he wants bc, the patient will never know! I had asked if when the patient is prepped for surgery does the anesthesia nurse review the risks and what to expect when being administered anesthesia drug ,prophepol showing them the drug and how it is administered. Dr.Kapadia's response was " you don't trust me and we won't put anything we are administering in writing , nor will we show you what we are administering. stay away ! it's an expensive surgery Buyer beware!

Unless there is a very great need, measuring for contact lenses is very little extra labor. Training for first timers could take a little time. But there's no need to charge again.

They treated my mother (who is older and does not speak English) with empathy, and understood what she articulated well. The staff was great helping my mother with testing and also helped her with glasses. When I checked in - they went through insurance coverage with us and everything was clearly explained.
