I wish I had reviewed Yelp before hiring this guy. He left us high and dry as well -- seems to be his modus operandi. We hired him to lay two brick patios, a connecting walkway, and a set of brick steps. From just a short time into the project he was looking for money; while his contract stated "Payment upon completion," we were prepared to give him some payment halfway through. But his requests came multiple times, and at the last one (for yet another $2,000) I hesitated, asking him to finish a complex part of the job first. He finished it quickly but did a very shoddy job (intentionally, I realize now), then disappeared with the check. I called and texted and emailed but he was gone. In the end, we've realized his lack of character worked greatly to our benefit, as we then hired the BEST COMPANY (Northern Landscape Construction out of Bridgewater, MA) to finish the job. The difference between the professionalism and the quality of work was really staggering. Steve is meticulous, patient, and collaborative; watching him lay mortared brick steps was like watching an artist at work. We were so pleased with his work we engaged him to take on another large project, and are looking forward to more work with him in the spring. I don't leave commentary on restaurants or contractors unless they are truly out of the realm of the acceptable; Justin Long and his company fall into that category. I'm sure he'd be ok to lay those precut "locking" cement pavers that fall into place easily, for which real talent is not a prerequisite. But if you are laying brick or bluestone, are committed to obtaining the best quality and service you can, and are expecting someone's word and a signed contract to bind an agreement, you don't want to hire this company. read more

Had an issue with water drainage in my back yard in 2020. The decades old small brick patio and stairs were sinking towards my home and allowing water to seep into my foundation. I had quotes from a few companies, but Justin's stood out. Multiple companies wanted to bring in a small excavator which would require some removal of my backyard fence (and of course a whole lot of lawn damage). Justin was confident his crew could demo the steps and excavate the area without the hassle and added expense while also ensuring the water will drain away from the house and not cause sinkage again. His pricing and plan simply beat out the competition. I also had to work with an electrician at the same time because the patio was being expanded and we had to re-work some conduit for my generator hookup. The electrician had some snags and delays, but Justin and his team rolled with the scope changes, and they were all very accommodating and pleasant. If you've had to work with multiple contractors, it isn't fun when things don't go according to plan. Know that Justin won't bring the drama that's unnecessary unlike some folks who don't have good EQ. The new rebuilt steps, expanded patio, and firepit were simply an amazing addition to my home. It's been 4 years now and I have no water problems or sinkage in my steps. I've recently hired Justin again to demo a 41 ft long concrete and rebar section of my inground pool foundation in October 2023 so my pool company can redo the underground piping. Justin's plan and pricing again beat out the competition. Justin will be back for a 3rd job in a couple months to hardscape the demoed pool foundation to kick off the summer. If you are looking for a professional, fair, affordable, creative, and quality hardscaper - Justin is the man for you. Just call him and let him help you make your property beautiful. Please do not trust Justine. He completed only half of the work in our backyard but took the full payment. The work he did was of very poor quality. Midway through the project, he threatened that if we didn't pay him in full, he wouldn't return the next day. Under pressure, we paid him, and then he never came back to finish the job. Had a fireplace remodel done last September 2023. It took 5 months to get a paid receipt for the 5k. Only finally got it in February 2024. Last January 2024 I contacted Justin to repair the space gaps between the stone and ceiling. Did not get a response until I posted a negative review on Yelp and it literally was minutes after I posted the review . He said he had some family issues and asked that I remove the review because business was slow and he paid for yelp to get more business. At his request I did remove the review and took him at his word that he would be by to fix the gaps. Well that was more than 2 months ago and he has not been by and has not communicated with us at all. I am reposting this and not only will I not remove this review I do not want him back to remedy the situation. We will get another contractor to finish and then proceed with small claims court. If you are considering this business I would not put any money down until the project is done. read more
