I happened to be shopping here with my daughter who bought a lovely pair of diamond earrings with Lynn's assistance. We were so happy with the service that my husband and I returned to buy a woman's Omega Constellation watch. They adjusted the links to fit my wrist. At the time of purchase, they did not have the international warranty card for said watch. This raised a red flag, since any luxury watch without the warranty card is practically worthless. Upon purchase, I was told that they would mail a copy to me. This is not the norm as I have purchased luxury watches before. I happily wore my new watch out the store, That same evening, the link suddenly fell off the watch. To my dismay and horror, this has never happened to me before. I was lucky to catch the watch before it fell to the ground. I was extremely upset all weekend and the jeweler was closed on Sunday. I was unable to remedy the situation until early Monday morning. It's quite a drive back to Northeastern Fine Jewelry as I don't live near there. When I explained what happened to the salesman, he was unapologetic and made no attempt to make things right. After such a traumatic experience, I completely lost faith in their workmanship and decided to return the watch. The salesman silently and awkwardly processed the return transaction and was very unsympathetic. This has been the worst shopping experience and it makes me wonder how they are even an authorized Omega watch dealer. read more

I went into Northeastern fine jewelry in the fall with an earring that I wanted to have a match made. The sales lady was rude. She was dismissive, and said in a harsh tone "we don't do that. You need to take it back where you bought it. When I explained that the jewelry has long since closed, she said again, " we wouldn't make something like that." She never offered to show me anything in the case. I took the pearl earring to Mayfair Jewelry, they were professional, accommodating and friendly. I have picked up the earrings and they are beautiful. Too bad Northeastern had lousy customer service. Go to Mayfair and get treated with respect. read more

The battery of my very expensive Swiss watch (Rado) needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, for convenience my husband dropped off the watch at Northeastern Fine Jewelry instead of a jeweler on Wolf Road that had replaced the battery before. We had to wait 10 days until the watch was returned and were charged $50 because "when the battery is exchanged the watch needs to be tested to be water resistant". (The previous jeweler performed the same service for a much lower price!) At home I inspected the watch and realized that the metal wristband was dirty and the watch had not been cleaned or polished. My husband called the store and was told that they "charge extra" if I wanted to have the watch returned clean. -- This is the epitome of poor service! I had a fairly disappointing experience with NEFJ. I had initially inquired about an Omega through their website. One of their watch reps gave a call relatively quickly, and confirmed that they had my specific reference in store. After a couple back and forth texts, we scheduled an appointment in person for 1pm on a Saturday. I arrived on time, and the rep I worked with hasn't arrived. No big deal, I browsed for a bit and chatted with the other staff there, who were nice and helpful. It turns out that they didn't actually have my ref, and they offered to order it for me. However, I wanted to build a relationship with the original watch rep so I decided to wait. He never attempted to communicate that day, and I had to get updates from his colleagues that he was running behind. At 1:40, I decided to leave and try another day. I get it, life happens and you sometimes miss business appointments. However, it's been a week since and the original rep has not tried to reach out in any way to attempt to reschedule or otherwise keep my business. I'm not expecting an explanation or an apology but there was just zero follow-up. The initial confusion about my reference and missing the appointment are understandable but the lack of professional courtesy a full week after dropping the ball is pretty appalling. This experience may not be applicable to all their staff but certainly applies to the rep I worked with. Needless to say I took my business elsewhere. I have not been very impressed with the ability of Northeastern Fine Jewelry to respond to customer inquires in a timely or effective way via emails or website requests. I am very dissatisfied with their website and the very limited information on the actual quality of their jewelry. While the limited quality information may be appropriate for the novice it only represent that they carry jewelry that is slightly above the quality of small shops. However, the word fine should be removed from the name since it suggest only top grade jewelry. Based on the rating of diamonds, gold, pearls and other stones in stock at the store they are actually "OK" and not fine. read more

If mall Jewelers have you thinking negatively about shopping for jewelry then NEFJ is your sanctuary. First and foremost, this is no-pressure shopping. At first it may seem as though they jump on you at the door just like every other place but give it a few seconds and actually talk to them... they really want to guide you to what your looking for rather than just secure your sale. Its a decent sized store and they are VERY knowledgable about what they have in their showcase. And when they don't know an answer, they will find it out for you. They actually listen to what you are looking for rather than pushing their favorites on you. I was recently purchasing a watch for my wife and they provided some excellent guidance. At no point did they try to upsell me to something I didn't want. They really did their best to match exactly what I was looking for and even talked me out of purchasing accessories - knowing that they would be better selected by my wife at a later date. They care about more than the sale that day. Ok, I know its not altruism, but they really seem to want to have a mutually beneficial relationship with you. It's not about the sale for that day, it's about customer service. During checkout they asked if I would like to put the watch in their system under my name or my wife's - i opted for hers - knowing she would likely be the one bringing it in for service if needed. After pulling up her record they noticed she was an existing customer and had purchased a high priced (for us) watch from them before and offered to discount my purchase. Cool! I really felt comfortable buying there, felt comfortable with the quality of what they were selling and will look to them in the future before I go anywhere else. read more

The boyfriend and I stopped in to look at engagement rings. We had a not so pleasant experience at another jeweler in the area and were a bit hesitant about this place. We went for it and tried it out and boy am I glad we did! As soon as we walked in we were immediately greeted and asked if we needed help. I said we were there for engagement rings and the woman pointed us in that direction and stated she would get someone out to help us. Not even three minutes pass and a woman came out to help us. I had no idea what I liked, wanted or style I was looking for. She had a lot of patience, was very good at explaining things, took her time and most importantly listened to what we were saying. After getting ripped off by several jewelers in the area, I found that I can trust Northeastern. I've been going there for over ten years, and have gotten anything from watches for myself, to earrings for my mother, and even an emergency stop to get a pair of cuff links on the way to a wedding because I couldn't find mine. Their watch mechanic is phenomenal, and after the mall jewelers screwed it up, he's the only one that I trust my Tag Heueur to. They do a great job at both the simple tasks of re-sizing bracelets and repairing batteries as well as the more complex repairing and replacing the actual watch mechanism. They even have a pressure tester to make sure that I can still swim/dive in my watch. I'm always impressed by the diamond and settings selection, and is the only jeweler that I recommend to my friends and family. read more

Going into stores like this as an LGBT couple can be uncomfortable because you don't always know if people are going to be rude. The staff here treated us kindly and were very patient with all my questions, then helped my girlfriend look at more masculine rings that suit her taste without batting an eye. I had such a terrible experience with this company I am debating filing a complaint with the BBB or department of consumer affairs for shady business practices. Not only was the sales staff pretentious but they refused to acknowledge the fact that we did not want a diamond engagement ring. We don't agree with the entire diamond industry as a whole and did not want to be a part of it. Regardless of our requests from the beginning they continued to push diamonds on us. To be honest the ones they did show looked pretty bad at that. So I finally settled on a setting and told them I would like a mossanite instead of a CZ. If you don't know it's a lab made stone just shy of being as hard as a diamond. They agreed to do it and rang up my order. They told me it would be a week or two before It would be ready. Fast forward two weeks later I call and ask for an update. I receive a call back from the salesman who said he had tried to contact me and my voicemail was full( this is BS my voicemail works). He then told me that Northeastern as a company refused to make an engagement ring without a diamond. Congrats northeastern you have kept with the stereotypical shady jewelers industry. Thank you for ruining my proposal plans and having to deal with getting a refund. In retrospect I am more skewed out by their sales staff than a buy here pay here used car salesmen. The money I paid was a lot and I can't believe they would sit on it for so long. There are plenty of jewelers in the area that would be happy to have my business and northeastern will never get it. Anyone who asks my recommendation will be told about my experience. Northeastern may have wanted to maintain the prestige and distinction (BS ) of only making diamond engagement rings but the end result is a very unsatisfied customer who will be telling everyone about our experience. Fast forward to last year, and I truly believe that I have found the ideal jewelry store right here in the Capital District area in Northeastern Fine Jewelry. I've dealt with several individuals over the course of the last 12 months and could not be happier!!! From the moment I walked in the front door, I just knew this place was different. It had a great vibe, classy but totally relaxed. The sales people were helpful and extremely knowledgeable without stalking you like a hungry pack of wolves that is typical of other jewelers. They thoroughly understand their product line as well as their competition, but have never been pushy or arrogant. They provide all the facts and allow the customer to make the most educated decision he/she can. When spending my hard earned discretionary income on a "want" item, I need to feel good about it. Had some problems in regards to moving out of state with there store warranty and getting the ring checked. Nicole in Manchester store was able to help during these problems well though. I do wish they asked about purchasing wedding bands post buying the engagement ring. But after it all the ring was worth the few bumps and glad Nicole was able to resolve the minor issues for us. If you haven't shopped for your next piece of jewelry from NEFJ, you're missing out. Here's a little background: my husband and I were shopping for an (upgraded) engagement ring; I might as well be honest. We walked in and immediately you feel at ease, there isn't an in-your-face salesperson; they give you time to breathe; it was refreshing. We were first asked what we were looking for and what style; price wasn't questioned or mentioned and we were given a range of diamonds to look at, at varying prices- this set NEFJ apart from the rest, immediately. Once shape was identified, our salesperson then asked- what is important to you? Is it size, clarity, price, etc.? Next we picked out the size and then he showed us different clarity. His words "if you can't see the difference, why would you spend more?" In the end of our visit, he was jotting down quoted prices for what we selected and said think about it. And that was the end of our first visit. It was weird to walk out without a receipt. We returned a few weeks later and I again tried on the band and diamond that I had selected. NOPE, it wasn't perfect. I tried on probably 10 more bands (maybe more?) with the same stone and just wasn't in love with the way that it sat with the two wedding bands that I already wore and love. But that's when the jewelry designer came out and drew a band how I described it. It was picture perfect and when my ring was done just a few weeks later, it was truly breathtaking. Gregg and his team went above and beyond, they educated us on every aspect of our design and ultimate purchase so ensure that we didn't overbuy; with NEFJ you make an investment that you are 100% happy and comfortable with.
