They sent me a bill of $1200 for 3 minutes of their time. First of all they sent it to the wrong address and instead of double checking with the hospital on the address they just sent it to collections, then collections sent it to a business address. I literally got a letter 8 months later, without seeing any sort of bill, having no idea this was even an issue, and the agent is telling me to give her my insurance information - talk about HIPAA violation! The lack of follow through is ridiculous. They gave the collection agency my name with my sons birthdate so the agent asked if I was born in 2015 - obviously I don't sound like I'm 10, so that was a dumb question to say the least. Super unhappy with this office - especially since my insurance would have already paid this bill if they'd billed it correctly, but seeing as they thought I was 10 and sent it to the wrong address they probably couldn't get the insurance billed correctly either. Now I am burdened with doing their job and figuring this out. My bill to them will be $1200 for wasting my time. read more

They talked to me about all the risks of surgery and any effects I usually have after surgery. They did their best to make sure I was calm and wouldn't have any side effects from the Anesthesia. Dr. Hermanson was my anesthesiologist for a heart procedure. He came in to speak to me in the midst of other personnel in my small cubicle who were all doing many pre-op preparations. Dr. Hermanson stood back and waited for some personnel to finish and leave so he could speak to me one on one and I could focus on our conversation. When we were able to converse, Dr. Hermanson was very thorough in his explanation of how I would be made comfortable and what anesthesia would be used, reassuring me that he would be monitoring me throughout the procedure to keep me safe and comfortable. He asked if I had any questions and he answered any that I had. After our visit as I signed all the paperwork I felt very confident and at ease that Dr. Hermanson would make sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. read more

Dr Miller was very kind, cheerful, and efficient. He explained the different anesthesias that would be used during my surgery. He was very patient while doing the preliminary nerve block for a rotator cuff surgery explaining what I'd feel and where the block would be felt along the nerve as he was proceeding. He had also explained clearly the after effects and how long it would take for all of the blockage to finally go away. Once in the OR I went to sleep quickly, and comfortably. No problems afterwards were experienced. It was overall, a very pleasant thing as far as surgeries go. I would be glad to have him handle my anesthesia for any other upcoming surgeries. read more

Wow, where to start with this business? Abhorrent would be a good place. The billing dept., headed up by a woman named Cheryl, is hands down, THE SINGLE WORST EXPERIENCE I've had with a billing dept. They sent me to collections without me ever receiving a bill. They had the wrong address. According to the Fair Credit Act, you cannot send someone to Collections under these circumstances. NCA knows this and they simply don't care. They think they make the rules. Sadly, they are mistaken and this will be addressed with the CO Attorney General's Office. NCA purposefully violated the FCA and when I called to give them my correct address, "Cheryl" informed me in a derisive manner that they had done their due diligence. This woman gets off on hurting people. She never once tried to help me with the situation. I can only surmise that they are still in business bc they have a captive audience. Management tolerates the mistreatment of their customers by a very lazy and unethical billing dept. If you google them, you will see that they also have 1 STAR on google and the majority of the complaints are about the incompetent and lazy billing department. AND, to boot, the anesthesiologist I was "assigned" (did not request him) at the hospital informed me that i could "die" if I didn't get a lumbar puncture. He said this in front of my two children. Very insensitive and unprofessional. STAY AWAY from this company. Horrible. read more

I recently had an excellent experience with this group, both the physician, Dr. K. Weiner and the CRNA (nurse anesthetist), Chris Elmore. Both were professional, efficient, communicative and caring. Unlike anesthesiology routines over the past few decades, nobody contacted me personally by phone prior to the procedure (this used to be the case when docs were not so crazy busy; having forms filled out and available is probably in some ways better, as it can be referenced at arrival of the patient), however, the nurse in the pre-op area had actually read the forms I filled out a few days earlier and knew/remembered my allergies and requests!! What a concept! She listened! As did the CRNA! I was in and out efficiently and safely and will return if/when necessary. BTW, I am a healthcare professional. read more

BEWARE!!! I had some reservations on the actual anesthesia provided for my dislocated, broken ankle. I had a nerve block that I thought was prescribed by my physician but when he came in before surgery he seemed a little surprised that I had a nerve block but then seemed ok with it. I look back on it and believe they gave me a sales pitch for the nerve block and if I would have realized this I would have done fine without it. Beware! The nerve block was terrible. It made my entire leg useless and completely numb for quite some time following my ankle surgery. The post surgery pain didn't hit me till after being released and during the evening. When it hit I was home dealing with excruciating pain. The pain meds took some time to kick in and I was home on my own. I would have preferred the pain control to have been assisted by a nurse in the hospital before being released. My leg is still numb in areas and it has been 5 months now. If you don't need one and it is just for short term comfort I'd say stay away from it. It is a $2000. procedure that could possibly effect the feeling in my leg for life and could be avoided. As for billing - ugh- by the time you get a statement you are delinquent! They call and you explain your financials and believe they will work with you like other medical facilities do. NOT with Northern Colorado Anesthesia. Before 90 days I was turned over to their collection dept. I have no insurance so I am waiting for all billings to be determined to then get a loan or help some way. I told them this but they didn't care. The next thing I knew I was turned over to collections. (They would not discuss or consider a self-pay discount or any assistance whatsoever!) The employees of the collections seem nice but ruthless at the same time. There is no working with the client by the collections because they say it is up to NCAP. You talk to NCAP and they claim it is up to the collection company which is Bonded Adjusting Service of Fort Collins. My experiences with the billing is very similar to other not so good experiences. i know you don't pick your anesthesiologist or the company they work thru. So good luck. read more

I underwent spinal surgery, a Laminotomy procedure at C7-T1 today, Feb 6th at the Surgery Center of Fort Collins. My Anesthesiologist was Dr. Kelli Weiner MD. I wanted to recognize Dr Weiner for her pre-op professionalism. Her warm, genuine personality combined with a keen sense of humor immediately put me at ease. Her bedside consultation consisting of an in-depth discussion of my health history, past operations and anesthesia experience allowed her to tailor her treatment plan for my procedure. Based upon my post-op condition, which prevented any nausea or lasting woosieness, I would highly recommend Dr Weiner as your anesthesiologist for your next procedure. The most incompetent billing department I have ever had dealings with. I had no choice but to use them since I was in the hospital. Even though my insurance completely covered my procedure, they refuse to bill them. I called them about a $900+ bill for about two months and either the line was disconnected or no one answered. I emailed their billing department and no one ever got back to me. Then I got a pre-collections notice in the mail. I called up the collections company, who gave me a phone number to billing. It was a different one than I found online and shockingly, someone answered. I was assured that my insurance was billed and everything was ok. A month later I get a collections notice in the mail. I am completely enraged. The woman at collections called the doctor's office and the head of billing swears she was never given the information about my insurance. Why didn't she try it herself rather than send it off to collections? Unable or too lazy to do her job? I have to wait 45 days for her to bill my insurance for some unknown reason. I hope someone in that office sees this because as I told the woman with collections, I WILL call a lawyer and take both your office and the collections agency to court. They are total scam artists that are out only to screw over unknowing patients. read more

I realize the challenge, but TRY AND AVOID THIS COMPANY FOR ALL SERVICES. We found out 3 months after surgery NCAP was not on our insurance, and they wanted payment at a price of their choosing. I worked with our insurance company to get them paid an amount significantly higher than insurance would pay (complicated by the 3 months they waited to bill us), but NCAP also insist I pay a higher deductible. They (reluctantly) agreed there was no way to realistically know if they were on our insurance prior to surgery, and that the amount paid by insurance was "at or above their normal payment". They argue that they have the right to determine "any reasonable fee to charge" after the fact, and you have to pay. It's not a legal practice in my business, and should not be in theirs. They admit they did not even read our written responses, just sent us to collections. The risk is they will support fewer and fewer insurance options, knowing they get paid more after the fact, and you have to live with it... Fighting this one on principle. read more

The billing department is completely incompetent. My bill was $38.40 after insurance. I never received a bill, then I received a collection notice. Through multiple conversations with the collection agency and their billing department I discovered that they had entered my street address's name incorrectly into their system. The collection agency was able to figure out my correct street address name. After I brought this to their attention they blamed the doctors office. Note that I did not pick these incompetent hacks, rather they were chosen by my doctor. They doctor's office has been fine, they sent me all of their bills to the correct address so it was not their fault. I also later found out that they had my phone number but never tried to call before sending to collections. Due to all this confusion I asked both the office and collection agency to send me a letter stating that the bill was paid and taken out of collections. Both were reluctant to do this. I received the letters, both dated 4/9 last week. Today I got a bill, for the amount I already paid dated 4/16. This is just unacceptable and people should know how poorly this company handles billing. If you have worked hard to establish good credit beware of this company. read more
