When you show up to the town soft serve shop and the line extends to the end of the block, one might think you have to debate waiting in line or not - for Northern D-lites you stick out the line!! The staff were hustling behind the counter and the cold treats our group got were all finished completely. The hubby and I opted to share the Brown Fudge Sunday - which was perfect, so much chocolatey goodness which is my favorite. 10/10! This is a great little walk up spot in Lakewood. Stopped by here during a stay in a nearby cabin for some tasty frozen treats on a couple of warm summer evenings. You walk up, order at the window, and they'll call when your order is to be picked up at another window. Their ice cream is soft serve and their servings are out of this world huge. My son ordered a large cone and had to reduce his order to a medium when he found out a large is nearly a pound of ice cream (though, at 17, he was pretty convinced he could finish a large off). I enjoyed one of their flurry style shakes (chocolate mixed with oreos). It was delicious and a small was plenty. My second visit, I got a small hot fudge mint sundae, which was indulgently delicious. I went during COVID19 (during the state-wide mask mandate) and will warn that the employees were not wearing masks and there was nothing encouraging social distancing. However, you do order outdoors and it was pretty easy to social distance on your own. I'd definitely head back the next time I'm in the area (pretty sure my son is determined to tackle that large cone!). read more

Service was decent, young and slightly inexperienced but not half bad job (could have been better) ice cream was amazing severed fast and correctly, the gyro's on the other hand left us extremely disappointed, 2 slices of lamb with no sauce and the peta wasn't even close to fresh or perhaps freezer burnt? We're sure to stop again but definitely just for ice cream treats. read more

I think the plain vanilla ice cream isn't as good as the chocolate, but overall the custard is superior! We had a very rude supervisor serve us today! The peanut butter shakes were made with powdered peanut butter and tasted like coffee! The flurries just have vanilla ice cream with toppings piled on top! Not mixed in!? Cute little drive-in place with a walk-up window for ordering. They have several picnic tables to the side of the building for enjoying your order. We were here for the frozen treats. The medium cone I ordered was HUGE. It was seriously bigger than a large order I've received from other places and it tasted great. My husband gave the chocolate shake his seal of approval after he finished. I didn't hear a peep out of him until it was completely gone. You might say that it's just another burger and ice cream stand that Wisconsin has plenty of....but really do we? Are there places like this around the state? In my opinion little mom and pop places like Northern D'lites don't exist. Sunday July 17th 2022 before heading back home we stopped here for lunch. I choose the Island burger which is a double cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and thousand island dressing. A large fry which was seriously enough French fries to feed a family of four! My gf had a single cheeseburger and we shared a chocolate malt. Both our dogs got pup cups which was a large scoop of vanilla and a biscuit. All that food for $22.00! They have picnic benches surrounding the outside. The staff is always friendly. This place deserves your money. read more

This is my childhood. When I reflect back on all the summers spent up at the lake, these fond memories always include countless trips to Northern D'lites. After the long days of swimming, skiing, and loving life, we'd journey into town and feast on the most ginormous ice cream cones ever. They call it ice cream, but the richness of it would have you thinking more like frozen custard. Get it mixed up into a flurry with cookie dough, oreos, reese's all that fun stuff, or go for one of those huge cones. Happiness comes in many forms and every order here will be happy. For a place that nails it in the ice cream department, you wouldn't except such great food, but it is great. Corn dogs, cheese fries, burgers, cheese curds, all the typical fast food Wisconsin-esque classics can be found here and they are just as good as the ice cream. So set your scales back a few pounds, head to Northern D'lites and feast on some tasty food and crazy good ice cream. Food this good is meant to be tasted sans the shame. read more

If you are in Lakewood, WI, you have to stop at Northern D'lites. I got soo excited to come here as a little kid after spending the day on the lake... and still get excited to come to this day. They have a whole bunch of good fried stuff and ice cream creations. I personally love the pizza puff which is in a puff pastry and they also have some pretty righteous mozz sticks. Decent, little Drive-In. We went here for lunch and ice cream. My wife and I got cheeseburgers, a basket of fries, and one Diet Coke. Our bill was $14.20. The burgers were delicious and you could definitely taste they were off the grill. The fries were crispy and delicious. For dessert, my wife got a "small" vanilla cone and I got a "small" freezee. The portions as mentioned before here on Yelp were generous to say the least. The ice cream total was $6.80. The only negative was that they were cash only and I had to go to bank next door's ATM. As inconvenient as this is for many nowadays, just raise the prices 3% and take cards. Sure would beat the ATM fee. read more

I've been going here ever since I started going to summer camp at Camp Nan-a-bo-sho. It was tradition to stop by Northern D'lite to grab my "last meal" before being thrown out of the car into the camp parking lot. About 19 years have passed and they haven't dropped a beat! Killer Chili dogs, hamburgers, fried curds and onion rings. Their soft serve is delicious as are their flurries. We've been coming to this place for years. My brother always seems to get the biggest soft serve cone, which is insanely huge. He does it strictly for the shock value of my niece and nephews. The size of their soft serve cones is huge!!! Heck all their portions are very large. Everything is delicious and the staff is great.
