Hands-down, this is one of my favorite spots going up north. Their food is out of this world, including their Gorgonzola tenderloin, prime rib, and their Alfredo! The walleye was fantastic as well. Sooo glad we took the ride to this amazing place! The doors opened at 4pm and we were greeted by three or four smiling bartenders behind beautiful bar. We ordered drinks and shortly afterwards were asked for our orders, from our waiter. We were seated, and our food came very quickly. We were all amazed with the quality. I am sorry to report our dinning experience to be very disappointing. While the steaks have jumped up in price, we never mind paying for excellent food. Our experiences there in the past have been very good but this last visit this weekend was a huge disappointment. The steaks we got were honestly flavorless. They were done to order, but just had no flavor at all. We won't be going back anytime soon. $40.00 a steak, when disappointing, is not going to be for us. Not very busy & that's not normal. Loved it. A true Wisconsin Supper Club experience. Since I moved from Wisconsin years ago it has been a LOONG time since I've been to one. It has all I remember--the wood-paneling (obligatory if you are in northern Wisconsin), the relish tray, the cracker basket with individually wrapped crackers...and you must have a Wisconsin Old-fashioned..usually made with brand, Sprite, and bitters :) I had the filet with Gorgonzola, which was fine. Hello friends! I hope this Yelp review finds you making your decision to go to the Maiden Lake Supper Club a bit easier. This review is FAR PAST DUE on my behalf. It's Saturday July 16th 2022 at 4:00pm. My gf and I are up for the weekend and like every time we come up we make a stop here for dinner and cocktails. We have always gone on a Friday night for a fish fry but this time we tried a Saturday night. Friends of my father/family have a place up in Stephenson and they have always stated they have wanted to go to Maiden Lake. So finally I got them to join us and they said they were very pleased and would return. So we get there at 4pm right when they open and already the bar and patio is full of people. The dining list is being created and we were told 4:40PM or 6PM for dinner. So we choose 4:40PM for when our table would be ready. We went down to the deck. I had an IPA, my gf had a Bloody Mary, my two guests had a whiskey old fashioned sweet and his wife had a glass of wine. After about 10-15 mins on the deck our orders were taken and we were seated shortly after. Typical supper club style! We are seated and the waitress reads off the specials which we're Prime Rib and a two crab cake with sun dried tomato risotto entrees. My gf had the crab cake special, my friend had the prime rib, his wife had the bbq ribs, and I had the center cut tenderloin with Gorgonzola, paired with Seared scallops, mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes. All dinners were paired with a relish tray, a loaf of fresh bread, a choice of either French onion soup or chicken enchilada soup, and a house salad. This was the second time in two years I choose the tenderloin because last year I had it and I was blown away with how tender and flavorful it was. This time was no different! It was AMAZING. I've been to some pretty reputable steakhouses in the Milwaukee area and I would put maiden lakes tenderloin up there with that competition. Every time I've gone to Maiden Lake I've never been disappointed. This is a must stop if you are around the Lakewood, Townsend, Wabeno, Crandon, Laona, area. Wife and I are away without kids and decided to go to Mountain Wisconsin for a relaxing long weekend. We saw that there are a few supper clubs and figure we would try one of these for the first time. We chose Maiden Lake as we saw they have an excellent view on the water First off, this is our first supper club. Not quite sure how they worked but researched it a little. We started off to register for dinner and then ordered a couple of drinks. Watching the bartenders work together was quite amazing. Our first bartender seemed like he was 16 but told me about the 5 draft beers they have. My wife got a martini and I got one of the draft beers. My wife ended up getting three martinis and each one was good. We went outside and sat on the deck and had an amazing view while we waited for our table. The thing with supper clubs is you drink and then you order while you wait in the middle. It is an interesting concept as it keeps the few tables they have open. So now we are seated at our table and of course we have an amazing view. We waited for about an hour to get the table but we had an awesome view of the water. When you are seated you get a relish tray and some crackers. Relish tray was fine, radishes were soft. They had cheese spread which also was delicious and a liver pate which isn't so much of my thing but I didn't mind it. They first bring out the soup and bread. The bread was warm and the butter was spreadable. We both got broccoli soup which I was not a huge fan of. However this is the only thing I thought was ok. Next up is the salad. They didn't have my Italian dressing that I love but they had some sesame dressing that was good. They had really good topping for the salad. It turned out to be a really good salad. Let's get to the main entrees. I got the tenderloin and added the scallops. My wife got the prime rib. The scallops were bigger than most I have ever had and just melted in my mouth. I couldn't believe how great they were. My steak was nothing but exceptional. It was one of my favorite steaks I have ever had. My wife's prime rib was nice and juicy. It melted in my mouth also. We both got a side of garlic potatoes which again were nothing short of exceptional. Then Emmie our waitress decided to bring a dessert platter and it had a blueberry cheesecake. I do not like cheesecake but of course this did not have that cheesecake taste. I enjoyed it. A lot The service here was nothing but exceptional. They all work as a team and you can see it. I see why this is a highly rated supper club. I saw one of the owners cleaning tables setting tables and a lot of other stuff The story is complete. If you are in the area, I would 100 percent recommend this place. The only bad news is that I saw the owner is trying to sell it. I would go now before it is too late. As others have said this place is a gem. Great food, great drinks, friendly staff and an awesome view. We'd never been to a proper supper club in WI and I'm concerned Maiden Lake has set the bar too high for future experiences. The patio out on the lake for a pre-meal drink is really, really nice. The drink options are pretty standard fare but I really enjoyed the Cucumber Vodka drink with cucumber soda. Food was excellent and plentiful. The desserts were awesome. They were nice enough to have a candle put on a small cake for my wife's birthday. My daughter really enjoyed the whole experience as well. Our family has loved coming to Maiden Lake and we have enjoyed some great experiences here. Unfortunately our latest visit was ruined by a manager, I think? I actually don't know who this man was, he never introduced or identified himself to our table as he loudly and aggressively insulted us in the middle of the dining room over a legitimate customer complaint. Back story: We got to Maiden Lake and happily waited two plus hours for a table outside on their beautiful deck over many rounds of drinks and apps. The service from the hostess, bartenders inside and out, table runners, was excellent. Our order was taken while we waited and by the time we sat down everything was ready. We all enjoyed our meals well enough, though one member of our party found that as he got closer to the middle of his steak it was well under what he had asked. He debated saying something since at that point we were all kind of finishing up, but he felt like he had to. We're not at Applebees. This is a place that demands a higher level of service and quality. The waiter took the issue to the manager, who emerged from the kitchen and was immediately rude, loudly implying that he was attempting to nickel and dime over the steak and that if he had a problem he should have said so sooner. Then he just walked away. I was honestly so taken aback I didn't have words. But I have some now. Many I won't put here. That's how you address customers who have spent the last 3 hours spending good money in your establishment? It had nothing to do with trying to save a buck. It's downright insulting. At that point the problem became less about the steak and more about this man's abhorrent behavior. In the end he took $9 off the bill, but truthfully an apology and some acknowledgment would have been much better. He doesn't belong in hospitality and it was a real shame to have to end the night on that note. I doubt we'll be back, which is sad. read more

A true Wisconsin classic supper club if ever there was one. This place sits right on the water with a bi-level deck offering fantastic views of the lake. We were fortunate enough to arrive as the first customers of the evening because boy did it fill up quickly. By the time we were seated there wasn't an open spot in the bar area. The interior is somewhat dated, but that's likely to be expected at a supper club. When you order dinner (from the bar) your waitress asks each member of your party their name & the waitress then uses that persons name throughout. I thought this was a nice touch. When given your table number, a relish tray of carrots, radishes, crackers & a spread are there. I'm not one for a radish so I wasn't wowed by the tray, but it does go along with the whole supper club vibe. The warm loaf of white bread was a nice touch with soup/salad and another part of the supper club experience. I ordered the beer batter perch and I wanted to like it, but it just did nothing for me. I really favor a Wisconsin Friday perch fish fry and Maiden Lake's just didn't pop for me. I thought the fillets were rather flavorless. The battering overpowered the fillets rather than being a compliment to them. Another person in our group ordered a steak sandwich and he claimed it was the best one he's ever had. He's only 17 so not sure how much stock I put in his food thoughts, but putting it out there. I see other reviews note being pleased with their steaks so maybe that would have been the way to go. I think part of the allure to Maiden Lake is that you're "up north". There are many dining options in the area and if I'm dropping $150.00 for dinner I do want to enjoy not just the experience but also my entree. I'm glad we stopped, Maiden Lake Supper Club is well publicized as one of the "must experience" supper clubs. Now I can say been there, just not too likely to return. read more

Yes there is a supper club book about Wisconsin restaurants who serve this amazing fare. There is even a movie about it with Kyle Cherek touring different supper clubs with the author. Maiden Lake appeared in this book and is definitely worthy of being in it. You need to get here really early or wait until it is very late. Even if you do arrive early expect a 2 hour wait. They do have a nice outside seating area that serves cocktails and has a nice lake view. Order an appetizer and chillax with your friends because this will be a wait. We were there during the rain but fortunately we didn't melt outside with the little rain. We ordered the shrimp & crab dip to keep us from being completely hangry. We got to the restaurant at 5pm and there was already a 2 hour wait. The dip featured small shrimp and was lick off the spoon delicious along with our cocktails. While you are waiting they take the time to let you order so that your food wait is minimized. The obligatory relish tray is served along with warm bread and a breadstick basket. The liver pate makes this spread just a bit different. I gobbled up a ton with some carrot sticks and was left craving more. According to friends they have an incredible french onion soup but unfortunately it wasn't available that Friday. I opted for the clam chowder and it was chunky but just needed a little bit of salt. Get the tenderloin smothered in the gorgonzola cheese...you must do this! For $26 you can't go wrong with the price and that is why this place is PACKED. I ordered it with the scallops and it was way more food than I could even eat. They didn't get a five star rating because they sauteed the scallops. They had a good flavor but not having that sear really threw me off. This should be on your supper club bucket list. Personally when I retire my goal will be to hit all of the top supper clubs in Wisconsin and this will definitely be a revisit. read more

Too bad the hospitality didn't match the beauty of the location. Called in advance to make reservations, told no reservations accepted - says the same on the Facebook page. Drove an hour forty five minutes, walked in at 4:05pm, only to be told the wait was 1:45 due to the fact they had 60 reservations and only 45 seats. My family has been going to the Maiden Lake Supper Club for many years. The restaurant takes no reservations, so if you seek a prompt seating you'd better get there very early, especially on the weekends. The food is fairly priced and consistently good, and the menu offers something for everyone. The service is prompt, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. But, in all honesty, I don't make the 2-hour round trip drive for the food. Like many people, I arrive plenty early, put my name on the waiting list, and tell the hostess that I'm in no hurry to have her call my name. Then I head to the multi-level deck out back, canopied by old growth trees, that overlooks the spectacular Maiden Lake. You can wait for one of the roaming cocktail waitresses to place a drink order or go directly to the bar on the deck. There's often a waiting line at the bar, so you may want to order a double. Go to the Maiden Lake Supper Club on a warm summer evening, get there early, and have the time of your life on the deck watching the activity on the lake with a cold beverage in your hand, followed by a delicious meal inside. read more

We have visited many times, our latest was for my 60th. birthday gathering with my family on june 24th. We came in with a party of 13, everything from start to finish was flawless. we started out on the deck had appetizers that were delivered extremely fast, the outdoor bar was great, and staff were very friendly. once seated we were taken care of very well by the waitresses, the food was fabulous as usual, delivered one after another, hot and great. its tough these days for an establishment to deliver quality from start to finish, Maiden inn and staff did so, not easy for a party of 13, thank you for making this a very memorable 60th. birthday dinner. see you soon!! read more

I wrote a review in 2014 regarding how spectacular this supper club is, and as time marches on, being from the south shore of Shawano Lake, we didn't get around to return till now July 2021 and then just now in August again. Now you need to call ahead at least 1-2 weeks during summer for a reservation, and this is as it should be. This supper club always has been and is still completely prescriptively perfect in every aspect that we as customers expect to find! We arrived a half hour before our "dining table" time and enjoyed cocktails on the deck(s) overlooking Maiden Lake....so peaceful and relaxing. There is a small bar down there on decks where the bartenders are excellent and attentive! This last time, we were lucky to meet up with the original owners who were sitting next to us. It was wonderful to reminisce of the 90's to present as this supper club is still in the family and every family member is still involved at any given time of the year as life allows. Now let's get to the heart of this review. We've had two Epic servers that took our food orders at the deck. In July it was Annika, and August it was Rachel. This supper club could not be more fortunate than to have these two young women working for them. Extremely polite, efficient, and they both possess that rare ability to make you feel as if you, the client, are the most important person in the room....that is truly a gift! Thank you Annika and Rachel. I won't go through each meal our two groups had, but suffice it to say, from the menu, or from the "specials" available, we ordered from both arena's. There is tasty soup, garden mix for salad, multiple choices of salad dressings (And you know what...they have both French and Thousand Island and that is what I have always ordered since I was a kid in Madison and my parents always went to the WunderBAR supper club...best dressings ever. Maiden Lake has this locked in as well! There is also a veggie tray and cracker basket at the table with cheese spread, liver pate or Braunsweiger type spread that I and my friends absolutely loved. Then the main course arrived. Prime rib, King cut done as ordered med/rare, others had, tenderloin, shrimp and more from menu. Silence for the next 10 minutes as everyone at our table succumbed to culinary ecstasy. The food at both visits was incredible, more than we could eat, so we took the rest home for the next day. MJ, thank you for this great experience(s) and we will be back again and again, it is totally worth the 40 mile drive from our door to yours! Yes. 5 stars. This place is a well oiled machine, churning out happiness: in your glass, on your plate through your eyes. This iconic supper club IS the real deal. If you're not from Wisconsin, that means: old fashions, martinis, a menu chock full of steaks and seafood, the elusive relish tray on your table ( liver paté, radishes, bread sticks, cheese spread). Oh, man. Plus you get fresh, hot bread, soup AND salad with your meal!! All of this with a stunning view of Maiden Lake. Service starts at 5 and it fills up quickly. I just don't remember if they take reservations. I have a feeling they don't. So, you park yourself at the bar or bar tables ; you'll get a drink pretty quickly and a menu. You register your name for a table, order your meal and sit there, comfortably, until it is ready. It's so perfect. The food is off the charts. I always order the king cut gorgonzola tenderloin. It's always done correctly and melts in your mouth. I've also had their walleye. Yum. Light breading and a flaky, delicious, fresh fish. This was my first Supper Club experience and I found it to be very enjoyable. I loved the ambiance of this place. I thought the food and drinks were reasonably priced. Everyone in our party ordered filet and raved about it. The quality of the food is definitely top notch. My only minor criticism is that I felt my steak was a tad under seasoned. My boyfriend didn't listen to me when I said order a steak and tried the bourbon chicken. He said it was good but then finished half my filet. :) get a steak!!! You order at the bar or on the deck and wait for your table. You sit at your table and have carrots, radishes, bread sticks and crackers with cheese and liver pate. Then soup, salad with a lazy Susan of three toppers (sesame buds, bacon bits and cheese) then wait for the glorious sizzle of your steak. After dinner I suggest a salted caramel martini or frozen salted caramel drink. I've been coming up to maiden lake supper club for 30 years, and every time I leave satisfied! My wife and I had dinner here in June during a weekend trip to Mountain, WI. We live in Illinois 20 miles from the Wisconsin border and we have been coming to WI for weekend trips for decades. During our WI travels, we have been to many supper clubs. Maiden Lake Supper Club tops them all. When we first arrived, we were concerned about the wait to be seated. But the folks here have a perfect solution. They sent us to the outside bar, where we ordered drinks and took in the beautiful view of the lake. While we sipped our drinks, someone came by take our dinner order. Before we finished our drinks, someone came by to tell us that our table was ready. Within a minute after we sat down, our server brought the relish tray, followed by salad. The salad was far better than a standard side salad and it came with more interesting dressing options than we could remember at any other supper club. My wife had the Gorgonzola Tenderloin, which was tender and flavorful. I had the walleye, which was fresh and well-prepared. Overall, the dining experience was the best we've had at any supper club. Went there on a Friday night, 8:00. Empty tables, Empty bar. They would not serve a party of 5 because we did not have a reservation. never been to a so called supper club that would refuse a customer. We left and looked at each other and vowed we would never ever think about going back to this place again. after leaving we went 1 1/2 miles to Mulligans on hwy 32. What a great place.
