We had a 2 hr reservation but they then switched it to 1 hour and cited the weather. We then found out there were accommodations being made for 30ppl who wanted to go together and required more guides (it wasn't the weather)....you snowmobile when it snows This resulted in us standing around for an hour. We arrived at 11:15 for a 11:45 departure but weren't taken out until 12:45. We ended up having a great group who could all hold their own, and we were able to get some good trail riding in. Our guide Parker was totally chill with a good focus on safety. I'll definitely try to get him next time. It was a frustrating start but ended up being a great day. I'm so disappointed. We made a reservation weeks in advance for early morning snow mobeling! We drove up 3 hours up early in the morning to arrive an hour before our reservations. We arrived to find out our reservations was cancelled. No email, no call, no message. We spent all morning driving up and they didn't provide us nothing in return while down there. Super disappointed in my experience. I would give zero stars if I could, but this one star goes to our instructor, Parker, who was very friendly and had no control over the situation. We were told to arrive 45 minutes early, which we did, but then ended up waiting an ADDITIONAL hour for another group to arrive, who was joining our tour. Even then, we didn't receive the experience we paid for. We snowmobiled for about 40 minutes (despite paying for a full hour) and never exceeded 12 mph because the other people (who joined late) in our group struggled to operate the snowmobiles. Overall, the experience was extremely underwhelming, especially given the price. I also called the office afterward to ask about a refund (Parker had advised us to talk to the office), and the woman who answered was EXTREMELY rude. She also gave my phone number to our tour guide without explanation, which felt inappropriate when I had asked to speak to a manager. I would absolutely NOT recommend this if you're looking for a thrilling experience that's worth the money. read more

Last minute decision to go snowmobiling and had three choices in the North Conway area and everyone told us we wouldn't be disappointed with Northern Extreme and they didn't disappoint. The price was reasonable, and Richard was a great Guide. It was a cold day so an hour ride was more than enough. Just as an FYI, if you ride double they don't allow you to switch up drivers which wasn't a big deal with the wife because of the terrain and speed (as she has never driven a snowmobile before). read more

we booked in advance. After filling out standard waivers, they required purchasing $10 insurance with $1k deductible or putting a $1k hold on our credit card. Wouldn't have been an issue if they disclosed when we booked or on our resy. The snowmobiles worked great and would certainly recommend snow mobiling in general again. The guide took us out to a nice lookout halfway through. At the end, the guide told us he had to be an a******* and humiliated one of our friends saying he ruined the experience for everyone by falling behind and then speeding up to catch the group (since out group was going a little slower). Both were amazing and fun but the folks on this location were even more friendly and kind! Our guide Parker was a super cool dude and fun but still professional. So much fun! We had never been snowmobiling before, so we opted for a guided tour. Man am I glad we did. Not only was our guide, CHRIS, great at the intro of how to make the intimidating machines work, but it was so helpful having someone show us were to make every turn and how to get to the best local scenic vistas. When they say show up 40 minutes early, you should. There were 3 other groups leaving around the same time as us, so lots of people had to be checked, sign paper work, finish getting geared up, sized for helmets, go thru the quick in office introduction to the weather and what we'd be doing on our tour, take the VERY short ride to the departure point, and finally learn how to operate the machines. They give you the full amount of your tour time ON the machines out in the forest, so show up early to make sure you get your money's worth. 100% recommend for beginners and anyone else looking to try snowmobiling in the area without the hassle of having to figure out the trail system themselves. We did the self guided 2 hour tour and I truly couldn't say enough great things about the experience. 1st they are great with cleaning rental equipment and office space has sanitizing stations and an outhouse. So those concerned about covid can rest a little easy knowing that they're in compliance. Staff was great with getting us set up with helmets and if you need to rent snowsuit or boots they're available. I've never been on a snowmobile so I was a little nervous that it would be difficult to learn....it's not. They spend enough time explaining and making sure you're comfortable. Late review but had to share what an incredible trip we had. We went out of the Bretton Woods location last January. Driving there I was freaking out since I had never driven a machine before. Driving home I was looking for sleds for sale on Craigslist. What an incredible experience. We took a 2 or 3 hour tour with Russ and it was just awesome. He was so personable, really made sure we all knew what we were doing before going out, asked us questions, took us to some spectacular views, and took us on some AWESOME trails! We LOVED the bumps! We were up there for a girls weekend, and made it that much more spectacular, including chiming in our game of Moose Goose! Our group of 7 (5 single riders and 2 double riders) had so much fun snowmobiling. This was a first-time snowmobiling experience for everyone in our group. Our guide, Chris, took time to ensure we were all comfortable with the sleds prior to getting on them - making sure we knew how to speed up, slow down, stop completely, use hand signals, and leave plenty of space between each other to not cause a crash! Chris showed us a couple of really cool spots in the woods and provided information about the wildlife that roam the area. We showed up in 80's-style ski suits and Chris was quick to jump in on the fun! Overall a fantastic experience on a beautiful day. We booked this tour in January about three months in advance. We got a call on Friday night at 6 PM that they were cancelling our 10 AM snowmobiling. While I do understand that they cannot control the weather, they can control customer service. We had booked a hotel overnight that evening to be in North Conway for the morning so we were now out $250 for no reason at all I was shocked that they did not offer a discount to return, and when I mentioned rebooking for Sunday, they were "100% sold out." um, okay.... So you have had my money for months now, have to cancel at the last minute and cannot offer re accomodation, or any discount, or anything? Just awful customer service. My kids were really disappointed. It turned out to be a beautiful day so we went skiing anyhow so I was surprised to see it cancelled when the weather was just fine. Would not use this company since they dont appear to be reliable or concerned with customer service in the least. read more

This is our second time renting snowmobile's. We rented from Bartlett location. We had 5 of us this time and rented 3 snowmobile's. 3 days before our trip it was cancelled due to poor conditions, lack of snow. 1 day before we left i got an email saying 2 hr tours where back on, excited and happy again only to find out the day of the 2 hr was cancelled again but we could go on a 1 hr. It snowed 8" the day we rode. Jenna was a good tour guide. We all had fun and will hopefully be back next year but with a lot more SNOW!! read more

We had the unfortunate experience to have had a run in with the worker know as bear at the Bretton Woods location. The guide was knowledgeable and the tour was enjoyable. Yes we would recommend but please go to the Bartlett location. To be transparent we had a mishap. We bumped another snow machine from behind. Thankfully no injuries On our return bear came up to our machine and loudly asked if we were ok and began a tirade about how much damage we had caused. Thousands of dollars in damage is what he said. We could see a cracked and scuffed plastic covering and a bent bumper bar. Honestly we had no idea of the cost. This was our first time on a snow machine. He had already checked the other machine and seemed satisfied that that machine was fine. The tail light worked. We followed him into the office to do what was necessary to cover our liability and be on our way. We had purchased the insurance. Unfortunately this is when bear I guess is on his stage and likes to discipline the tourists. All we wanted to do was cover the liability of up to $1000 and be on our way. Unfortunately not that simple. "Your gonna be one of those people that calls the credit card company to dispute the charge." Again just wanted to leave. "Maybe I should call the police." More back and forth and we were finally allowed to leave to have a well deserved drink. Again we would recommend this company but the customer service is questionable if you have to deal with bear. read more

Hands down the best time my wife and I have had since our honeymoon. We got a double sled because the wife didn't want to pilot her own machine. Our tour guide Beech was amazing. He made everyone feel comfortable and not only taught us about cute little mice tracks in the snow but also about big cuddly black bears that climb trees. The wife eventually took the pilots position and got up to about 40 mph on Bear Notch Rd. She said the next time we go back she is getting her own sled! This is the best tour I have had so far.. If you are beginner or an expert this is for everyone.. We went there on Sunday and took 3 Hr guided tour with our Guide John.. He was great and tour was awesome.. I missed a turn and got stuck in snow with sledge but they were patient and got the sledge out and we continued with the tour.. I would suggest to rent their Jacket, Snow pants and boots.. This was the best trip and money well spent... Recommend it highly to everyone.. read more
