When I ask for an written estimate, he said that if he had to do a written estimate, he would have to pay someone in his office to write that up, so he wasn't willing to do that. Do what!! I'm not going to lie and tell you I was thrilled to shop for flooring; I envisioned wanting that hour of my life back. But, WOW... what a gem Lake Orion has tucked away on Lapeer Road! This place is a MUST... This store celebrates flooring with a display of exciting textures and colors that will have your mind spinning with amazing design ideas. Whether you're looking for a longer shag throw rug to soften a space in your home or a tighter berber or even a plush twist to finish off your living room or bedroom - this place has it all! The options are fantastic and will be able to meet a variety of different design ideas and budgets. I also love that they carry other products to finish off your interior space... stacked stone, interlocking wood... I mean it's like designer heaven. Seriously. We ended up going with Karastan Gentle Quality in Wrought Iron. It's a wonderful darker fleck carpet and despite having black, white and charcoal the carpet complements chocolate tones easily as well! The entire process was smooth. We worked with George who we will definitely be visiting again. The carpet arrived earlier than anticipated and scheduling and installation were a breeze. I love the personalized attention we received as clients and would highly recommend supporting this business to anyone looking for flooring options and/or other interior accents. My son and daughter-in-law contracted Northern Flooring to replace ALL the flooring in their home. As an observer, I am extremely disappointed in their work and feel this flooring company took advantage of a young couple. First, the laminate in the kitchen is not level. My son was told that the subfloor underneath was not level and it would have cost more to level it. Northern made the decision to lay the floor over the non-level surface WITHOUT giving my son/daughter-in-law the choice as to whether they wanted to spend the extra money to have it done right. Second came the carpet throughout the house. It has a weave in it with horizontal lines. In the living room, these lines go one direction, but on the stairs, which directly about to the living room floor, the lines go the other direction! It looks very unprofessional! Again, my son was told that it was "cheaper" to lay the carpet in this manner because there would be less waste, AGAIN without offering them the CHOICE. So now, the kids are stuck with flooring in their ENTIRE HOME that is NOT RIGHT. That was a lot of money to spend on a lousy installation job. I would NOT recommend this outfit and would encourage others to STAY AWAY. What a slipshod installation team they have! And no, Northern Flooring did NOT offer to make it right!! This place does not have good customer service at all. They try to go behind your back to install when you arent' available to be there and then they don't do a good job. They were suppose to cover a piece of wood for inground holding tank and they didn't put the carpet pad over it before the carpet so the carpet is not level in the room. Very sad to have them give me bad service twice. The first time, same thing, they put the wrong color in the wrong room and didn't even apologize or offer any kind of amends. Nancy S. read more

This place SUCKS, my wife and I were referred to this place by a flooring installer and let me tell you I would not refer this place to anyone. The salesperson was arrogant and treated my wife and I like we could not afford to be there. We were looking for the luxury vinyl tile that looks like hard wood and after he showed us a few he told us that we were probably looking for more a builder grade product and that they do not sell what we need they are only high end product. After a brief discussion about labor he walked away from us like we were bothering him. Sorry we do not have a budget and are looking for the higher end flooring and it will not be from this store. STOP JUDGING PEOPLE. We left and stopped at BCF flooring in Lake Orion and very nice and very helpful read more

My husband and I were looking for new carpeting to go in four rooms of our house, scoping out several places in the process. Northern Flooring gave us the best experience out of the four places we went! When we walked in, we were approached immediately and asked what we were looking for. They showed us to the carpet area and then told us to have a look and grab them if we have any questions. It was nice to be able to look around and discuss the options without a sales person breathing down our necks and influencing our choices (which happened at the other three places). Once we ordered the carpet, the delivery/install went great! The installers were very personable and did a fantastic job! Overall, we are absolutely thrilled with our new carpet and will definitely go to Northern Flooring the next time we are in the market for new flooring; we've already recommended them to a couple of people we know who are looking, too!
