The store is in a wooden structure that looks like it should hold power tools, but never judge a book by its cover (or a game). We have bought several birthday and Christmas gifts here and the staff are some of the most knowledgeable about board games of varying types. We have also been introduced to new games here, and the prices are competitive with other game stores across the country. Instead of jumping on Amazon and enriching Jeff Bezos and his union busting ways, drop in to NCR and support local games stores. Also, Jesus Christ is Lord! My mom, who we lost in September of 2019, used to come here all the time. I was here today, and she still remembered her. She had such nice things to say about her. As other people have said, it doesn't look that big on the outside, but it is huge on the inside. If you can't find what you are looking for, you are probably not looking hard enough. They have new and used books, fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, travel, rare and out of print books,, a very large children's room, and the list goes on and on. The prices are more than fair.... They also buy used books at a fair rate for store credit . If you don't find what you need this time, they will roll your credit over until the next time you come in. It's really cool that they do that. Once you buy your book, take it across the street to Los Bagels, And you can grab a nice snack while you peruse your purchase. There are multiple floors of books to explore and you can easily spend a day within the store talking about books with the staff, shopping for books, and living and breathing books. If you're traveling through Eureka and wanting a wonderful literary adventure, stop in old town and explore the huge variety of antique shops, used bookstores and wonderful niche shops that the city offers. Indeed, the personality of this business matches that of the greater community; that quixotic mix of coming to terms with your own minor quirks and foibles, along with the ability to laugh at yourself. Oh, and I love of just about every kind of music you could imagine. The store had all sorts of records, although these are not 1980s Woolworths prices. I think we spent about 25 bucks for an old GNR album, and found a cool little Grateful Dead piece of art. The key is behind the counter was much cooler than me, but just as kind... I like that when I go in the store. It makes me want to buy things. Other retailers in the Square should take note. All that to say, Arcata is a town with a flavor all its on, and this music store fits right in. I will be sure to stop in the next time I'm passing through to see what other treasures I can find in the stacks.
