I just got so busy doing so many things but again he went above and beyond in helping me get what I needed done to try and make a long story short, I went in there to buy all the vegetables and fruits. Things that I needed for the week. I was making ceviche for the first time my family, and I have arthritis in both of my hands, and I asked him if they could help me out by having the limes squeezed for me, I also offered to pay for them to do it for me. He was so kind and helpful. He says no not needed and he asked his manager on that day who was running the store I apologize. I did not get her name, but she gave the ok for them to do that. Also I would like to thank the workers who took care of it. A young lady I know they usually do not do this, but you really helped me out so much I appreciate it. I really did not know how many limes ‍ it takes to make the juice for the Ceviche. It was 10 lbs. It really goes to show how much this Northgate really goes above and beyond to help the people of this city in that just by asking that they are willing to help if they can and go out of their way to do it. So Northgate thank you so much for your awesome team of people you have working for you. You have incorporated good work ethics in the people you have working for you. It shows how much you have showed them about team work and how they enjoy working for Northgate because every time I've gone there they're always very nice, happy and helpful. Worker charged me and I paid with Apple Pay and she clicked something and said I didn't pay when my Apple Pay shows I did. Manager with glasses was really rude and didn't wanna help me the cashier name was Paola she doesn't know what she is doing at all. Mari was the one that help me after she did give me my stuff but made me try to feel bad saying I called them bad names when I never did. Ive been coming to this store since it opened and never had problems until 3/28, I visited the store and went to the tortilla section, which was completely out of stock. When I asked an employee in the produce section whose name was Juan Pablo for assistance, I was told, "no, the people in the tortilla section are already home asleep." While I understand items can run out, the response came across as dismissive and unhelpful. I would appreciate more courteous and oriented solution customer service in the future. I later called the store to speak with a manager regarding the experience. When I asked if I could speak to a manager, the person who answered Jose, repeatedly responded with "how can I help you" instead of confirming their role, this made the interaction feel unprofessional and frustrating. I understand that items can run out, but customer service should remain respectful, clear, and helpful. I hope this feedback is taken into consideration to improve the overall customer experience. Stopped in for quick lunch on Monday to pick up my usual of chile rellenos for me and tamales for my wife. Everything was hot, fresh and smelling wonderful. I self served my rellenos (which was extremely large and heavy) I usually get two but decided one would suffice. My wife asked for two chicken tamales. She said they were great. My fewer than five star rating is because the relleno was disappointing and overpriced. Thin, thin green chile with even less cheese, covered in a thick pancake batter that absorbed sauce and weighed almost 2 lbs. You pay by weight. $18.50. But then I walk to the refrigerated section and get two quarts of the Highlife for $5. Almost made up for the overpriced relleno. I love the brightly colored and overall cleanliness and vibe of the store. I will be back but this lunch was disappointing. read more

My favorite Latino grocery store. Service is always great here. They have lots of ready to eat food items. My favorites being their tacos, ceviches, mojarra and agua frescas. The quality of their produce is always fresh. It is a little more expensive than the other Latino grocery stores but i rather pay extra for better quality. The store itself is pretty big offering a wide selection of items and they also have indoor seating on the second floor if you wish to dine in. If you go on a busy day the meat section does tend to be pretty packed and can lead to longer wait times so keep that in mind. But overall i enjoy the vibes of this store the best. It always very lively with them playing music, offering free samples, or specials. read more

I cried while zi ate clavacitas, fresh tortillas and ceviche, tasting the flavors that brought back memories of my Abuela's and aunties. Every time we come here the staff is always working so hard! I love stopping at the fresh guacamole station and getting a tub of that! I love looking at all the hot food they provide because they have so many options! They have fresh rice and beans, soup of the day and all different tamales! They have a taco combo on Tuesdays three tacos with rice and beans! They have fresh ceviche and all different types of salsas. They have a meat section and it is so organized where you take a number and wait to be called to be serviced. They also have a agua frescas section! The watermelon one tastes so fresh! They have a good bakery section and a huge alcoholic beverage section! The cashiers are nice and the lines go by quick! They also have someone to help you bag your items! i love coming here for the sushi! when the chef is there you can get it freshly made and with the ingredients you like. it is always fresh and the sushi rice is soft (if you come here early, while the sushi chef is here). they have a rotating variety and have different daily specials. their veggies are always fresh too. i can't speak much about their raw fish since i only get imitation and baked salmon but they always seem fresh. their newest addition is hot cheeto dusted sushi. the people at the sushi bar are always nice and helpful (a nice older man and a kind younger woman). they always ask if i need anything else or if i want something that isn't out in the displays. such nice people! and if you buy from the prepared food you get to check out from the cash register near the entrance/exit which is very helpful as it can get busyyyyyyy. the rest of the market is good overall. the produce is sometimes lacking but that is closer to the end of the week so maybe it is a supply issue. the fresh, warm bread is super delicious. read more

Wow!!!! Since this is my first time in this store....I have no previous experiences to say if the condition has deteriorated or not, as stated by other Yelpers comments. I was impressed by the sheer amount of goods and selection that they have. Prices were competitively priced and reasonable in comparison to other similar stores in both Southern and Northern California. We stopped to look around and didn't purchase anything except for some warm bolillo bread and it was good. Everything looked good and fresh. I know that my family that lives in the area, makes it a point to their shopping here and I can see why. Plenty of parking. Employees were friendly. Vibrant colors. Good ambiance. read more

I come to this store every week because of the service and quality, however this week when I was grabbing my usual at the deli, I noticed a fly trapped in the cheese. I told the deli guy who was helping me and he didn't care to act immediately. It was his co worker who got the fly out several minutes later, and she only took out the 2 pieces where the fly was around . I understand it's a lot of cheese to throw away but we don't know how long it's been there for or if that was the only area it touched. Wow, where am I ? Umm you could easily spend 45 minutes here.Of course this is a functioning grocery store, but I was there for lunch. There were trays upon trays of fresh eats.Some areas are self serve and some are employee assisted. I saw a sushi station , sandwiches , combo plates, different versions of ceviche , mole chicken just to name a few.I chose a chicken and a pineapple tamale, tortilla chips,and their fresh guacamole.I like that they provide sealed bags for the tamales so they stay warm .The masa on the chicken tamale was thick, but the chicken was seasoned well.I did leave a little of the masa behind. The pineapple tamale was decadent and moist. It was full of pineapple. It reminded me of pineapple upside down cake.The perfect dessert finish . There was a person stationed at this little kiosk with a tray full of fresh guacamole. I asked her to put some of the non spicy version in the smallest container.I paired it with a small bag of their tortilla chips for around $2 and I was on my way. Apparently there's seating upstairs. Gorgeous interior but they always seem to have expired products. My mom once got me Oreos from here and I spit them out immediately due to a bizarre taste. I check the expiration date and it's 2 months past. Granted it's my mom's fault for not checking but still! Terrible product management. And recently my aunt was sold these ROTTING chicken gizzards for 3 dollars less than the usual amount she pays. This implies the butchers knew the meat was borderline bad and wanted to get it out of the store ASAP. The gizzards were for my diabetic uncle who is immunocompromised. God knows what could've happened to him had he eaten that. Fortunately, the next day, one of the managers was kind enough to give my aunt her money back and was extremely courteous. So there's that. UPDATE: originally gave this place 2 stars due to its physical beauty but my dad bought tortillas whose Best By date read December 27th, 2025. Love coming here for the ready made food. This store is well maintained and I enjoy the set up. When you walk in there is plenty of nice floral options, candles and little artisanal type of decorations. Hot tables and deli area are practically at the front. We, in the neighboring city of Corona, have a large number of grocery stores that cater to our large Latino community. So when I heard that the Northgate Gonzales chain was planning on opening yet another store in Corona's downtown (in the near future) as part of the city's revitalization, I wondered exactly what that meant to me. Recently both my daughter and my son had good things to say about shopping at the Riverside location. But I needed to find out for myself. So we went there several times in the past few months and it has grown on me. This is a substantially large store, very well organized, quite clean, and very friendly. The fresh produce section is quite impressive. It has the feel of some of the magnificent Asian markets you can find in parts of Southern California, bustling with activity, with a beautiful butchery and well-stocked shelves that cater to Spanish/Latino tastes. But it was the huge, hot food section that has won my heart most recently. I am a real tough critic when it comes to buying good carnitas by-the-pound, as it tends to be overcooked, dry, and too lean. But what I found here was perfect. While I struggled language-wise to express what I wanted to the lady at the counter, with a little help from strangers I came home with an amazing chunk that melted in my mouth. You will find many hot dishes, some are self serve, others require assistance. But what caught my eye were the Family Meal Deals that include all the mandatory meal extras (salsa, tortillas, beans, rice). For the two of us, our meal rang up at $19.99. That comes with a full pound of meat, plus sides. For an additional $16, we would have gotten another pound of carnitas, enough for 4-5 they say. While not particularly in love with the sides, it is OK, a really decent deal. My carnitas cravings can now be satiated without having to worry. I am ecstatic! All in all, I am looking forward to shopping in the new Corona store (maybe open sometime in late 2025?). Why did it take me 16 years of living here to find out about this place? Referred to by a coworker, stepped through the doors eyes widened, slow head turn, pulling phone out, the camera eats first. So it kinda feels like a mix of Whole Foods and Ensenada. Fresh squeezed juices, every tamale you could think of from sweet to savory, champurrado, soups, hot plates, fresh tortillas, sushi station, tacos, burritos, fish market, meat market, food samples like Costco, the bakery is on the opposite end of the store. It was so fun walking through and seeing everything they had to offer. The servers were so friendly and welcoming. Keeping the self serve stations clean and organized. Containers are at each station for hot prepared food with paper towels for those drips. Serve and pay at the only food register in that section. Line can fill up quickly. The prices are on the higher end for groceries, not as crowded in the shopping area. The big draw is the prepared food section. There's a seating area upstairs to enjoy your food. Bar stools and countertop line the window to view the store from up above or there's lower seating with larger table space. Restrooms are also located upstairs. The Chile relleno, sopes and champurrado were excellent. The tacos were missing some flavor needed seasoning and the chili & cheese tamales were ok just mostly masa but dessert tamales had good flavors. There's room for improvement. Some food items are a home run. Really great place to stop for some lunch on the go, family dinners or larger parties. First visit, success! read more

This Mercado has everything a person would need to make a fresh Mexican meal. The varieties of meats, cheeses, fresh produce is incomparable to other stores. It is very clean and customer service go's above and beyond to be helpful. It's decorated beautifully. There is already cooked meals, fresh Agua frescos, freshly made ceviché, freshly made guacamole, Mexican candies and a bakery; to say the least. If you get the chance to stop in, do it; you won't be disappointed. read more

Everything we have bought here at the restaurant side tastes amazing! The ceviche, the rotisserie, the pozole. EVERYTHING. We also just tried the tres leche cake for my daughter's birthday, it was so good! Not too sweet and very light. First time here and the experience was cool. The place is huge in the inside. I didn't get a chance to explore the whole store. I was there for the hot food that day. I thought it was cool they had a grocery store and restaurant in one. When walking in the place is super clean just by glance and the workers are nice. I end ordering a burrito and since it was Tuesday, a taco Tuesday special came with a drink tacos and rice and beans. I was excited to try their food. After getting home I was able to sink my teeth in. First bite, I thought this burrito needs some seasoning and or salsa, it was bland. That was disappointing for sure. We got a Carne Asada burrito and a Pastor taco and Carnitas taco with the green salsa. They have a nice place upstairs where you can sit and eat and look out over the store. Saturday lunch time was crazy busy here. Their cantina section was insanely busy because they had big orders to fill and customers who wants to dine in. The staff was not well trained yet because they were all over the place and just asking each other here and there about their own work flow. Their food choices in the cantina section is big. I ordered 2 tacos for $4: Al pastor and barbacoa. I could honestly say that the barbacoa was one of the best I've had. The Al pastor was good too. I wanted to try the short ribs and fried fish but they were out and they were still cooking them.
