First time here and the experience was cool. The place is huge in the inside. I didn't get a chance to explore the whole store. I was there for the hot food that day. I thought it was cool they had a grocery store and restaurant in one. When walking in the place is super clean just by glance and the workers are nice. I end ordering a burrito and since it was Tuesday, a taco Tuesday special came with a drink tacos and rice and beans. I was excited to try their food. After getting home I was able to sink my teeth in. First bite, I thought this burrito needs some seasoning and or salsa, it was bland. That was disappointing for sure. I'm sooo sick of this location!! I purchased the Buenelo they were old Moldy and had white spots!! The large shrimp is mixed with small shrimp on occasions! & they claim they isn't mix them on purpose! Shop here with caution! The store is clean for the most part. They have a variety of herbs even watercress which I use in my Korean hot pot! The service is always good! I never had an issue with customer service. The manager of the meat dept is a lil dry and not approachable but other than that I have no issues. I only really come here for the shrimp because it's the best no watery taste! I wanted to provide feedback about their churros on their app but I didn't see anyway of doing that. This is the second time I've bought churros from them and they're not very good at all. They're chewy and tasteless. At $1.59 a piece, they need to do something about their recipe. There's insufficient sugar/cinnamon as well. I thought perhaps the first batch was just a bad one but today's was equally bad. Sorry Northgate! The store on State College has fabulous churros and a huge selection of various flavors. First off, let me start by saying that I am at this grocery store at least five times a week. I love that the produces is usually fresh. The meat is a great selection the homemade food is amazing every time! So imagine my dismay when I'm shopping today November 4, 2024 and I'm getting ready to check out and I asked the girl at checkstand in English if she could bag everything. Then the bagger comes up to assist her with the groceries, and he tries to put my milk in the basket and I tell him again in English can you please put the milk in a bag and he replied no problem. Then the checker and the bagger start cracking jokes and say.NO SPEAKY SPANISH to each other and laugh And laugh theN the bagger says sarcastically BAG EVERYTHING then the both of them start making little jokes in Spanish like I don't understand. My Spanish may not be the best, but I understand it perfectly well enough to know that they were talking shit at the register as they are ringing up my groceries and in my face, I know Mexicanos don't like to be made fun of because their English isn't so well but it goes both ways. Latinos don't like being made fun of when their Spanish isn't so great. Do better NORTHGATE! read more

So we've heard about this store for a while but only knew they had them in LA county. We could wait til they opened Up this location. Even more exciting that it used to be, where Toys R Us was. My very first job as a teen lol. We tried going opening day but it was way to crowded. Ended up going weeks after and Wow! Was I pleased! I could go on and on about how much I Love the store from the set-Up to the food, well spaced Isles fresh food, produce and store was Clean Clean organized and well stocked. What caught my attention was the homemade food they had already cooked. All you have to do is serve youRself but it definitely can be on the pricier side. There was always someone there attending to the food. Making sure the food won't run out. Bad customer service in meat department I went to buy cheese it was more then 10 people waiting to be help and on the meat Dept it was 5 people and only one girl was helping customers they were just watching us and talking each other instead of helping that's worse part it was my cheese I don't know if the put the cheese under the shrimp I got home and I opened the bag to cut and it was all wet and a strong smell of shrimp came out they should be more careful they can get someone sick. read more

This place was a Toys R us but they are gone! Finally a New Hispanic Market that I feel is better than Cardenas Market is in this center now. They have a big hot Deli take out that's fantastic! You can get your stuff yourself and it's by the lb. There is a check out just for that area so you don't have to spend time going to the front registers! There is a Hugh Bakery with a lot to choose from. In the back of the market is the meat and seafood. Large amounts on hand and very fresh. There's also a hot Tortilla Section where they make their own and you can watch the machine kick them out. They carry a large amount of different produce items that other markets don't have. read more

This review is for the hot food and pan dulce sections. Last night we ordered a pound of carnitas, a Chile relleno, and a half dozen tamales. The carnitas were completely over cooked and rubbery. Perhaps a few days old. My kids couldn't even chew them! The tamales were not cooked all the way through with the masa mushy and flavorless. The Chile relleno was good - up until the last bite when I had to pull a disgusting long hair out of my mouth. As for the pan dulce, the teleras and conchas were hard and definitely not fresh. I haven't come to this Northgate in over a year and was really disappointed to see their quality in these areas decline. The hot foods section is what used to distinguish them from competitors and made the drive worth it. Service was ok - the majority of the employees I interacted with were friendly. read more

I don't get to come often but when I do it feels like a treat. The prices are reasonable and I love getting their aqua frescas, guacamole or baked goods. Used the northgate pronto service to get a birthday cake for my dad's birthday. I prepaid and received notification the order was ready for pickup. When I arrived the staff was clueless. They had zero idea even when looking at the confirmation email. They said they had no cake for me. They've refused to replace the cake I already paid for. It was their mistake and they've done nothing to make it right. They shouldn't offer order ahead if they their staff doesn't have the skill set necessary. The service was horrible and as a loyal northgate customer (I usually go to the Orange County stores and have never had any issues) northgate riverside is consistently awful and I won't be returning. Do not let them ruin your loved ones birthday do not order cake here because apparently no one staffs the bakery after 4pm. This place is truly awful and unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and go to Cardenas instead. read more

My favorite market! I will take the extra drive out of my way just to get to one. Every time I buy peppers from here no matter the kind they are always spicy and full of flavor. I stop by here for lunch to get my favorite hot dish, carnitas in red salsa! Omg talk about spicy and full of flavor! My go too 100% The market is always clean and stocked with product. I've never had a problem with anyone or anything there. When a homeless had come in the store, they monitored him and made sure everyone was safe. Well, I was impressed with their kitchen for starters , it is a huge kitchen , tasteful flavors, generous portions as well , Did I mentioned that they have a second level? This is one of my favorite markets. I have everything you need. The market itself is always fully stocked with great products and great prices. But what I like is the different sections. Have a cocina that was pre-made food so delicious. They also have a ceviche station, sushi, a juice bar and they make tortillas fresh in-house everyday. Oh don't let me forget the awesome bakery!! I come here at least once a week, lately I have had a bad experience here. Today I wanted a fresh orange juice and I asked a worker if he can make it or have someone make it for me. He said yes but did not get anyone because one of his friends or coworker showed up and they started taking to each other and help him with getting agua fresca. When he was done talking I asked again but he seem mad about it. Then I waited again and his friend came back to get another agua fresca and he gave it to him. I came up to him and ask him if he can get a manager or someone and he said I'm going to right now. Besides that he helped everyone else that came his way. He send new girl which she told me before that she didn't know how to make them and she end up doing it and when she asked for help the guy said just do it like that it's fine. I try asking for his name but the first two people I asked they told me that they didn't know his name but that he was the owners nephew. I did complain to someone.
