Unfortunately, it seems the rest have all moved on or been replaced. But the administrative staff is still in place and that is where the real issue lies. They were unable to help my son with his ADHD and dyslexia. My son was harassed and bullied by one of the paraeducators and the administrative staff at the time let it happen and encouraged it. It leads to my son having suicidal ideologies and we need to move him to private school. Unfortunately, he did develop PTSD due to the treatment from the staff at Redmond elementary.

Also impressive was the effort she puts in for all the kids there. I could see the advancement in my daughter pretty quickly, she started putting together words and soon was reading smaller books. The curriculum is not limited to reading and writing but covers diverse topics on science, math, geography, Spanish and so on and is taught in a way that's easily grasped by these young tots. Even during the pandemic, Shantha took every effort to keep the teaching moving along via online classes with a similar curriculum. I highly recommend this school.

My husband and I have expanded our "tribe" to include many of the families we've met at KCP, I'm so glad we made the choice to join. Our sons have been nurtured by not only the teachers at KCP, but also by the parents. The parent involvement piece is a big commitment, but our kids have benefited immensely from it. And I have been able to witness their growth in the classroom the whole time. It's been a really precious experience. She has been to almost every classroom and has been taught by all the teachers and staff. You know the staff really cares about my daughter as they all know her by name. Although there was initially more turnover when she started, it seems to have become more steady and there is a longer-lasting relationship with the teachers. We didn't necessarily seek out the bilingual aspect of ECA when looking for a daycare, but I am thankful of the opportunity for my daughter to learn the Chinese language and culture even though we don't speak Mandarin at home. She surprises me with the amount she knows. Looking back, they were a bit more strict during the COVID years, but this is much appreciated as a parent. Although my daughter eventually did contract COVID, it was only at the peak of Omicron that it occurred. They had safety measures that straddled the line of being cautious but also fair to working families. The management has been communicative and transparent. When we have questions or concerns, they are always taken seriously and are open to feedback. We have been very happy with our experience here and don't hesitate to recommend other families to consider ECA.

We feel that ECA has done much more, along the lines of controlled learning. Not does he only have free play, but they really do believe that learning about the outside world is just as important. He's learned about continents, the 5 oceans, the solar system. And not only does he learn them in English, he's learned them in Mandarin as well. He has been given the ability to practice his cutting, pasting, writing letters, and number... but he's also been given the experience to learn how to make dumplings, and moon cake with his peers. The art that they do is also tied in to the subjects they are learning... which is how it should be done. They get to see, hear, and do.. which is essential in active learning. We don't speak mandarin at home. And being able to watch my child read mandarin words, sing mandarin songs, and reply to his teachers in mandarin... has been amazing. I can truly say that he speaks better mandarin than I can now. I've added a video to my review as a small sample of how much my son has learned reading Chinese at ECA. Also, once they are in pre-k, there are some days, where your kid gets to bring home, homework (not mandatory). Haha if that's your thing. My child loved it. And was proud to do the work "all by himself". I truly believe my little one has been able to grow a lot from ECA. And we're really happy about the staff, and the head school, Jenny. They have less turn over rates than our prior daycare, and the staff really seem to enjoy their time with the kids. The cameras are also always a nice touch to ease any parent's anxiety. The homemade meals have been a great way to introduce her to foods we might not make at home, and the staff has done a great job with providing alternative food options when needed to work around our daughter's allergies. Our daughter had a reaction at home to soy and it turned out to be an allergy to all legumes. While we were figuring this out the Discovery Center staff went above and beyond and had a list of safe foods and a list of foods she couldn't have that we would update to ensure they were avoiding all potential allergens as we figured this out. This made us feel safe sending her to school during a more uncertain time. They still go above and beyond to avoid her allergies and provide other food options. Our experience potty training our daughter before she was two years old would not have been possible without the help and support of the staff. They helped take her to the toilet often and continued to help potty train her while at school. There's a great balance of education, play, and outdoor time. We can tell she is learning a lot and we know she is having a ton of fun too. Our daughter will come home and suddenly start counting to numbers we haven't even tried to teach her or sing new songs! Our daughter is insanely shy around new people, she still is scared of some grandparents. But she is very comfortable with everyone at The Discovery Center, I couldn't imagine sending her somewhere else. The classroom and daycare size is a perfect middle ground where there are plenty of kids our daughter's age, but it still has a more intimate feel where everyone knows each other. The whole place has a great "family" vibe where all the parents will pitch in. There was a time when they were remodeling the outside play area and they asked if some parents could volunteer to help put together some structures on a Saturday. It felt like nearly every dad showed up to help get these structures built and the owners provided us all a home cooked lunch for coming together and helping out. Speaking of remodeling the outside, since we started at The Discovery Center the entire center has had so many improvements. From new play structures outside, to a new outdoor infant area, to a full remodel inside. It's been fun to see this place grow and improve over the year and a half we've been sending our daughter to school. The Discovery Center has been a great daycare for our daughter, has been flexible and helpful for our needs, and we will be bringing our newest daughter to the same school here soon!

We let them know and they immediately changed their minds about our enrollment. They said: "Either pay full price without the subsidy or we will not accept your kid". On their end, the money they receive is the same - the only issue is they had to report the paperwork and taxes related to it. School in their response claims my kids have never been part of the school: As mentioned in my original review, it is because they decided not to enroll our kids TWO WEEKS before we started. This is the whole point why we wrote the review.

My husband and I saw the negative review posted here and wanted to post something of our very positive experience at Northlake. The classrooms are calm, safe havens for our daughters. One of the reasons we love the school is that our children are safe and feel safe. There is a zero tolerance of bullying. The academic programs are strong and are interspersed with all kinds of wonderful activities like gymnastics, karate, soccer, zumba, chess, technology, visual art, Japanese, and Spanish for which we do not need to pay extra. All of the children are able to participate. These programs as well as before and after school hours are included with tuition and it's great for us as working parents who cannot leave the job early in the afternoons to take our children to sports or arts camps, for example. The sense of extended family is another hallmark of the school and the Northlake community is welcoming and supportive of all of its members. We see children who have graduated returning summer after summer to rejoin the fun and catch up on their academic skills. We meet their parents all over town, and everyone speaks highly of the school director and teachers and of the whole school experience. We only wish Northlake would add a middle school! read more

This school is a little hidden gem in Kirkland. Not only is it hidden amongst an oasis of beautiful landscaping with a running water feature in front but it is also so much more than just a school. My youngest child has attended for over two years now and I am constantly in awe of what Northlake has to offer. Not only does the school offer first rate teachers and great test scores but there are small class sizes with 10-13 children in a class with one teacher and an assistant. In addition to the amazing education my daughter is getting, she also receives extra curricular activities as part of her monthly tuition, no extra cost to me. Japanese, Spanish, Karate, Gymnastics, Zumba, Soccer and Music to name a few. I could go on and on about this school but I will leave this review with a sincere thankfulness for the extended family feel and "home away from home" sense that I get when I see my daughter light up as I drop her off each day at school in time for breakfast and see the smile still there when I pick her up after work. Not only is this a school but it also is extended Care so my daughter doesn't have to go to multiple places each day and I know that she is safe and well taken care of. read more

They employed a pedophile for 1st grade. My daughter was in his class. When this became an issue, they fired me without pay (for time worked) and buried me to prevent it getting out. Google will not publish my review. It took two years for my daughter to trust a male teacher again. CPS and the police didn't do much. I've reported multiple abuse to CPS and police since, as a public school teacher, and they don't do much. So, I will tell you ... Teachers falsify test results at the end of year, they are underpaid, under-insured and abused by the principal and the principal's son. Not just the teachers. The principal's son is not a certified teacher but still manages to teach múltiple currículum to frightened and tense small children. read more

Northlake Academy is a wonderful school. Both of my kids have attended for three years now and they are super happy. They love their teachers. The environment is so friendly and you can easily communicate with teachers and the principle. Ms. Sue is very kind and encouraging to students. Students learn high-level math, science and visual art with engaged, dedicated teachers in small class sizes. I don't think I could have made a better choice of school for my children. Northlake offers so much that is hard to summarize here, Gymnastics, Karate, Zumba,Tech, Visual art,Soccer, Spanish and Japanese classes are the extra classes there that I don't have to pay extra money for them! If academic progress isn't your main concern, it could still be fine. Overall, this school may is not the best fit for fast learners. Teachers focus on keeping the class balanced, which often means slowing down advanced students to match the majority's pace.

The school celebrates many cultural holidays, and our whole family has been enjoying the community events hosted by parent volunteers. The school sends visibly sick children home, as they should (not our experience with previous schools). We are thankful for fewer sick days because of this. The school's facility is large and open, with beautiful outdoor play spaces and lots of space in each of the classrooms. The teachers are highly qualified and especially caring. Every day our children spent at the school, we know was a day well spent where they learned many subjects, experimented, socialized with peers and were nurtured in a trusting and safe environment. The educators and administration of this school are deeply trained in the Montessori method, and our children were so very well prepared for primary school when they started. We also had a dear teacher and teacher's aides through their time at the school, who cared deeply for our kids, and we miss them! One of the amazing things about this school is the approach to learning and "work." The teachers instill a fundamental desire for students to enjoy their work and gain a deep sense of autonomy and pride that comes from putting their best foot forward. Our son thrived with the pre-math curriculum and he now routinely scores in the 90th+ percentile in math, science and reading in primary school. The learning atmosphere and guidance in personal growth at a young age was top-notch at this school. Lakeview Montessori provides a high level of early learning. We are so grateful to have attended, and that we have this wonderful school in our community.

Our son had such great consistency during his time there and learned so many things. What I loved is that the group of kids is relatively small, there is very little turn over of teachers and students which generally meant that our kiddo didn't get sick too much and was able to maintain good friendships. Garima also provides food and great structure- our son is very independent and is never annoyed about taking care of himself which is the advantage of Montessori learning. She celebrated big events like Mother's Day, Diwali, Christmas, and the kids' graduations to the max which I believe really helped us all make them feel special. I was so happy with our son here and wish we could have stayed longer. You won't be disappointed if you send your kids here.

We had our daughter here for 5 years. She started in the infant room and went through to Pre-K…read morebefore moving to her public school Kinder class. In some ways we wish we would have kept her in through the primary grade. Our experience was so positive. She needed extra care and nurturing in the infant room. She just wasn't the kind of baby you could easily hand off to others, but the teachers in the infant room held her constantly and really went out of their way to help her to settle in. They would even hold her while she slept which was amazing. She progressed through each class really well thanks to the care, kindness, expertise and nurturing of the teachers. What we really loved was that they could accommodate the individual needs of our child in a way that helped her to make friends, while growing her skills and confidence. The focus on, kindness, life-skills and academics is perfect. Now that we've moved on to a public school we truly see the value of the school. Our daughter is reading more than a grade level above her class and doing math that is a grade level ahead of her class. She is testing higher in nearly every academic area than her peers. We feel we owe much of this to the work of the countryside teachers who were so dedicated to her. We recommend Countryside to any friends looking for schools.
