Just want everyone in the KC area to be aware that if you should need a tow truck and call Northland Tow LLC -they will charge you $1300 if you use your car insurance. That was for an approximate 5 mile tow to one destination where they charged for two tows to two destinations, a lot fee/storage fee and some other fees that were not at all valid. This to me is illegal and scandalous. I rode in the truck and know for a fact my car went to one place and was parked and it should have cost no more than a couple hundred dollars at the most. Ultimately this can affect insurance rates being increased because tow companies are overcharging and raping the insurance company which finally affects the consumer and what they end up paying for coverage. read more

I've never used them, never will. One of their trucks was following me down 64th street in parkville tailgating me about 2 feet off my bumper. Then last night 2-14-14 I was coming home from downtown by power and light and another one of their trucks an older Chevy 3500 runs a red light with a car hooked to up. They clearly have a personnel problem and need to hire better drivers. I'm sure they're insured and all that, but I'd still be livid if their driver ran a red light and got my car hit because they're above the law. Would give zero if I could. Guy with "Boss" shirt said he was the owner of this business, threatened us bc he drove from far away and claimed we owed him for "services rendered" when he didn't do anything except drive to our location after we tried to cancel with him several times. Believe he deliberately ignored calls bc he wanted to "charge" us for his "services rendered." Called the cops on us thinking he was in the right when the cops showed up they sided with us. Was extremely unprofessional with what could have been potential clients. There were 2 females and 1 male in our party and he was trying to take advantage of the fact that he knew we were inexperienced with tow companies. This man has been banned from Joplin for trying to do exactly what he did with us. Claims he will take your car to his lot for FREE and then charges you an arm and leg for what he originally claimed would be FREE. He wanted to put our car in an impound lot for 2 days and then tow it on Monday to the place we wanted it serviced at free of charge. So not only did this "boss" threaten us, call the cops on us, cuss at us, but he also drove back by to see if we were still there and honked and waved like the scum he is. Don't give this man a dime of your money. He just wants to hustle people that don't know better and scam his way through his washed up life. He was driving with a different tow company this day called "Wilde" during this incident. read more

I live in a building that they tow illegally parked cars from. I have lived in this building for 2 years and never saw them tow anyone...even when there have been events and cars were parked illegally in the lot, preventing people who actually live in the buildings from parking. So what I cannot figure out, is why on a Thursday night at 1145 they are towing a car which took them 20 minutes of backing up with the backup alarms going off the whole time, and waking me up when I have to work really early the next day. read more

I will never use these people they seem like they are Tweakers running trucks they don't care about the hours of picking up vehicles my grandmother is 80 some odd years old and they tried to pick up the truck at 9:30 at night mind you she's 80 some years old then the dude finally came Sunday around 5 or 6 and we never got our truck about 10:40 he decided he was taking the truck back to my grandmother's and my grandmother got the truck at 11 kind of funny I live in Holden Missouri how the hell did he get the truck there in 20 minutes must mean he never left Parkville because I live in Holden Missouri so he was never and hold them cuz he kept the gentleman kept telling us 20 minutes 20 minutes I'll be there but then decided because my husband's a jerk and wanted to know where the H his truck is he was going to take it back to my idiot some of your old grandmother's place in Parkville and that's what he did what an awesome job dude awesome place where to go Northland tow jerks I tell you so we found somewhere else to go and they were wonderful they even come over here and did a Jimmy job to unlock our other vehicle that was locked up for free so I will never use Northland tow they just take advantage of people and do what they want when they want on their own free will cuz how do you do a job on another job we just got excuses after excuses so we filed call the cops and filed a police report that there was stolen truck on record because the guy had the truck for almost 4 to 5 hours it only takes an hour and 9 minutes to get here but we gave them an hour and 30 minutes and then every time he and every time he say 20 minutes we would give him 30 minutes so yeah never again Northland tow sucks they really don't deserve Ur rating read more

By accident, I parked in what turned out to be a tow away zone in downtown Kansas City. We were running very late for an event, couldn't find other parking and the weather was quickly turning for the worst. I will never make this mistake again - missing the event would have been far preferable to this experience. We returned to where the car was parked, finding that it was missing. We then realized that the consequence for parking there was impounding and called the number on the sign. The individual who answered the phone was downright nasty and abusive, telling us we couldn't pick up the car until 2pm the following day, asking for $100 dollars on top of what their signage indicated and laughing aloud regarding the "6 other dumb mother f*ckers" whose cars they also towed that evening from the same lot. He ended the conversation with "F*ck you" and hung up the phone. When I called the following morning, I was told I could pick up the car any time, but was quoted the same high price. When we arrived at the tow lot, the desk person wrote up a receipt that was reflective of the price on the sign. Then she quickly stopped and called to the back for the driver, who almost doubled the price. When I asked why, he claimed they'd had the car for two days and were charging as such. Looking at his paperwork, he also claimed to have picked the car up the moment I arrived. When I told him that was impossible, he vigorously defended himself, although it was noted on his report of talking to the police that the pick-up originated an hour later. He also lied about the mode of tow, which was different than what was reported on his paperwork, and had resulted in dragging and scraping my front bumper. When the damage was pointed out, he laughed and said they weren't liable for damages. Horrible business, horrible people. read more

This company took advantage of us. they told us they could not drop off our car at the dealership which was less than 1/2 mile away (the dealership said clearly, they couldve dropped off the car at the dealership). Instead they took it to their garage over night saying they would not charge for it, then without a signature, presented a bill to the dealership and charged over $650.00! The owner was "out of town" later when we talked to him, saying he will refund all of the charges to the dealership then backed out. Shady business. But we are not the first to be taken advantage of. Legal line Joplin MO. They had a restraining order against them for illegally towing cars and misrepresenting themselves in that time of horrific disaster with loss of lives and property during their worst tornado. Unfortunately, I had a fender-bender 4/19/2016 just north of MO Hwy 45 off of MO Hwy 9. After calling my ins co, I immediately called my personal mechanic shop, Dave's Foreign Car Repair, which recommended Barbosa Kustom Kolor (BKK) for their honest work. Immediately 2 tow trucks appeared shortly after my misfortune. What seemingly appeared as chance and goodwill, with the recommendation from a "certified" mechanic and the offer to tow my vehicle to their "recommended" shop. Dad owned tow company, Northland Tow, and uncle was the mechanic that recommended Good Times (GT) Body Shop in Parkville MO. I didn't think the van needed a tow but convinced me that the crunched side would cause damage to my (new) tires so I allowed the approx. 1.5-miles tow to GT until I knew what to do next. The next morning, I requested an estimate quote which GT said would take 2-3 days. BKK offered to go to GT to get an estimate THAT day. GT was quick to offer an estimate of $1700 after BKK came in at $2200. To be competitive, BKK offered to get work done at their lowest price of $1900. BKK offered to pick up vehicle from GT to begin work. In order for vehicle to be released to BKK, the following fees were paid: tow fee $1050 + $50/day x2 for parking + $225 admin fee = $1375 total. Needless to say, I was taken advantage of and have no other recourse; but to offer my review of my experience and to offer a caution to others. read more
