I went for a team building event. Everyone was very nice and friendly. I only interacted with the snack bar folks. They were very helpful. They have two sides for bowling. I never leave reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough to make me write my first one. I've always enjoyed visiting Northside Lanes, but my most recent trip was disappointing due to poor customer service. I understand that we arrived close to closing time (40 minutes before closing), but that shouldn't be an excuse for rudeness. First, we tried to order from the snack bar around 9:26 PM, not realizing it closes at 9 PM instead of 10 PM. Instead of politely informing us, the female employee responded with unnecessary attitude, waving her hand dismissively and saying, "Nahhh, we're closed." Then, when our game automatically ended at 10 PM--before we finished our last frames--we noticed another group still playing. When I asked why, I was told that "You have to request an extension anytime throughout the day if you want to finish your frames before closing". This was confusing because, in all my visits--both day and night--I've never had to " request an extension" to finish my frames (rows). When I asked for clarification-meaning if I have to ask for an extension when it comes close to closing, the employee kept contradicting herself, and said "No, anytime throughout the day" then insisting that you don't have request, it's only when it comes close to closing time. I completely understand that employees want to go home on time, but customer service still matters. A little courtesy goes a long way. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression, and I hope management addresses both the inconsistencies in their policies and the attitude of some staff members. The bowling alley is like any decent actual bowling alley. Its not bowlero with a huge arcade and lasers everywhere, its a bowling alley for bowling and as that is pretty nice with a solid setup and 30-40 lanes, I think. Now lets talk about the Pro shop. Stopped in after spending hours and hours researching bowling balls, talked to the pro shop owner, who suggested a ball that wasn't even on my radar, partially due to it being a retired ball, but it was closeout and the price was very right. So he measured me, and 30 minutes later I had a bowling ball. The ball suggested was really a great suggestion and a solid beginner/benchmark ball that I can grow into. So I was super impressed after being worried I was getting ripped off somehow or steered into a bad decision. Lots of ball choices, bags and accessories. Really awesome. read more

I would never recommend anybody go to this location. For the second time in the last month I've had my clothes stuck in a washing machine...the same load that got stuck the first time and alittle extra I had thrown in there and now it is 8:54 at night and was told somebody is coming but honestly doubt it. I'm worried I just lost my clothes for good. I work early tomorrow and doubt anybody is going to come. read more

I have been to this location before so I knew about the atmosphere there on Tuesday nights! I usually come for the bowling and the draft beers, but tonight I ordered some food which is what I'm basing my review on! I ordered cheese fries, mozzarella sticks, jalapeño poppers, and a 7 inch pepperoni pizza. The fries were covered with burnt dry shredded cheese, which would be ok if they weren't stuck to the aluminum foil, I knew from the second I got them the cheese was very dry and burnt making it hard to eat. The cheese fries were warmed up but the cheese inside was still cold and the jalapeño poppers were not cooked all the way either. The pizza was the only thing I could eat to completion. Over $40 for food I could've made better at home using an air fryer, I had a group of friends with and no one could finish these off, I was not happy with the food experience at all I'll be sticking to just beer and drinks from now on. My family used to go every Tuesday for a few games and a late lunch. Not anymore. We got to the end of our ropes with the price increases, and the lame excuse as to why. Short answer: Due to covid, they are now price gouging customers who still come in, to make up for their poor money management skills. The lanes are not kept up with, they allow teenagers to overrun the place, (which would be fine if they had any etiquette whatsoever) the food is crazy expensive, the place is dirty, and it takes an excessive amount of eye rolls and time when the lane breaks down. Save your money and invest in Wii bowling. You'll be happier than spending your time and money on this location. read more

Sometimes why you are at a business is vital to the context of your experience while there. Such was the case at Northside. My wife's grandmother visits here twice a week (two leagues-church and open team). At 80 years old her level of sarcasm, her ability to slow roll a spare, and her enjoyment of being around people have yet to diminish. And thus, I found myself here on a Friday morning during a holiday visit. First you need to know there is NO other bowling alley in town so whichever reviews you give weight to, this is your only choice in the area. Two, they are much bigger than what you anticipate from the outside. Lanes a plenty, full kitchen and concessions, and drinks are by the can and/or on tap (including beer). The team here is friendly each time I walk through the doors and the place is in good condition. With the pictures of all of the perfect game bowlers [300, in case you don't know] on the wall you get the feeling of a neighborhood bar, but with bowling lanes included (which is a great thing). If you ever find yourself nearby and have the urge to knock down a few pins, stop in. You'll have a great time. read more

I went there last Sunday with my brother and his friend and it's been years since I've been to this one and first of all when I got in the cashier looks like she had a rough day and I don't blame her and second the bowling lane we went to kept breaking down occasionally but we hit the reset button and it work and I really suck at bowling and this place needs to be renovated but what I care about the most is having fun so I might come back here whenever I feel like I don't hate It just feels different since I was a kid. read more

The Good: Northside lanes is a fantastic alley. So many cool little features. Especially if you have little kids. The automated bumpers were very cool. My grandson had a blast. I saw they have ramps for even smaller kids to learn how to play. The alley was clean and everyone was friendly. They have a program for kids where they get a game, a hotdog and a drink for free. That is such a great deal. The Meh: No real arcade to speak of. May be a space issue. The Bad: My only complaint is the alley shoes, at least my pair were very worn on the bottom and I was unable to approach bowl. I had to stand on the line and chuck the rock because the shoes kept grabbing. Small thing. If you live in the area buy bowling shoes. Your bowling life will change for the better. The ugly. Snack bar attendant wore gloves when handling food but didn't take off gloves to handle money. Paper money is super gross. Take off your gloves. That is no bueno. read more

The bowling was great. That's all they had going for them. The desk ladies are nice but the food is not good. It was a waste of money for the $16 pizza. We ordered pepperoni. They gave use cheese. I took it back, they gave us the same pizza with pepperoni put on it and more cheese. The reason I knoW this is because the lady told mm she was doing it that way. The crust was hard as a rock and burnt as hell. Our kids wouldn't the eat it. I suggest if you have kids, make sure you feed them before you go. Bowling was great though. read more

Bowling used to be one of those activities that were cheap and fun. I'll split this review into bullet points. 1) We played on a Saturday. 3 adults, 1 3 yr old. $81 for 2 hours . 1 star 2) The front desk wouldn't let my 3 yr old have his own lane next to us so he can bowl freely. We all had to bowl in one lane. Out of 40 lanes there was only 7 lanes taken up including us. Not busy. Never had an issue at any other bowling ally. Each place has their own rules I guess‍1 star 3) The pumpers for the kids are automatic on their turn, that was cool. 5 stars 4) Front desk was rude when checking in. 1 star 5) They had to different rooms for you to bowl in. One was black lights and dark and the other was lit up, no fancy lights. The options were cool 5 stars The biggest thing was the price point. I've bowled with our entire family for less than $35. Certain days it's cheaper so maybe you have time to bowl on a Tuesday where it's a few $$. This was a day out that was well over $100 with food. Great alley in Winchester. They have lots of lanes and feature on section that is regular bowling and another equally large that is Cosmic - you know the black lights - disco ball type stuff- fun if it doesn't give you an epileptic episode or something !!. Kids love it. They rent lanes by the game or by the hour as well as shoes if you need them . Plenty of balls to find to right fit if you don't have your own yet!! They also have a few arcade games and a refreshment stand. They have all your favorites burgers pizza nachos etc even French fries to keep your hand greasy when bowling - that's my trick !! Lol . For drinks they offer all kinds of soft drinks and beer - even IPAs , both in cans or on tap. The folks there are helpful and the place can get awfully busy. We had a birthday party on Apr 10, and not very good experience. No one told us where the room was, pizza was late and there were guest leaving because their kids were hungry, also had to buy more soda, for the damn price that they charge, was very, very disappointed, the staff were very rude and impolite!!!! I have been here a couple times for the occasional free bowling for SU students on Thursdays and a Breast Cancer Awareness Event as well. I like the cool back area that has the awesome lights and music! Definitely fun to be back there with friends. The main areas is not bad either. There are several lanes and the place has always been clean when I went. Service is meh. It depends on who is working. Food is typical bowling and college fare. Deliciously greasy burgers, fries, hotdogs, sandwiches and a few good beers. All in all a pretty good bowling place. read more

This place was fun. The cosmo bowling had great lighting, good sound and good lanes. The people in the shop were also extra helpful and cool, I couldn't find any bowling balls that were decent enough to play with (pause) so i went in the shop and asked if they rented out any to bowl and although they didn't, the guy offered to give me a deal on a ball I picked and use it to bowl, couldn't complaint on actually making a deal here. The food service was a bit slow but they had a party as well ahead so it's understandable. Lady at the counter looked beyond frustrated and was even demanding some people showing up with a tense tone what shoe size they were giving them an attitude, so she could at least work on that or not work at all, patience is virtue hun. Eventually i'll swing by again on my drive down south but place is recommended. read more

It is sad to me that this is Winchester's only choice for bowling. I took my family tonight and was told there would be a 45 minute wait. We actually believed it for a while, but as we got our children seated to wait, we watched multiple idle lanes continue to go unused. I asked multiple times about why those lanes weren't being used, the answer being that they were online reservations. Whoever reserved those lanes obviously had not shown for their reservation. After nearly 30 minutes, with no help from employees, who seemed to be enjoying their jobs more than is usually legal, I let them know that they can forget about my reservation. Worst customer service ever. While online reservations took precedence (although late by nearly half an hour) they gave up business that was right under their nose. If you want your kids to bowl and have fun, it looks like Leesburg is the only option. read more

The old guy working there charged us (3 people) $35 for 3 games of bowling. When I told him the math didn't add up ($3.75 per game) he promptly screamed in my face about how I was wrong and he was right. I told him to calm down and he still yelled at me. He then couldn't work the card machine, so after 10 minutes of him blankly starring at the computer screen and humming old folk songs under his breath, he said "it would be easier for me if you just used the ATM", which took a $3 fee from my checking account. He had a bad attitude the whole time, when we walked in my friend said "how are you" and he said "I can't wait to get the hell out of here." If you're considering going to this establishment you better hope this man isn't there. It was an all around bad experience. read more

Went to my first birthday party there and it was awful. The parents didn't have anything they needed. Constantly had to ask the staff for forks and so on. No one checked in on us and the balloons we were supposed to have, were out of a bag and the person just tossed about 10 on the table not blown up or anything. We waited for the food forever! Think twice if you're thinking about coming here on a snow day. First, my daughter called ahead to see which hours they were going to be open. The women said "We're open from when we open to when we close." She was greeted with a nasty attitude. When we arrived, they refused to give us a small sized ball for our smaller children. Woman actually ROLLED HER EYES and said "That size is meant for 2 year olds." We then asked if the bumpers could be put up and she replied with the same sour attitude saying "that's only for 11 and under". My daughter is a small 12 year old. The only bright part of the day was the nice woman working at the concession stand. I think she said her name is Shannon. read more
