I bought 2 cars here in one weekend, a 2013 subaru outback and 2016 audi a6. Shortly after purchasing the check engine light came on in both vehicles. Got both cars diagnosed in the shop and they were incredibly helpful in resolving the issues. I got a service contract on both the vehicles as it covers a lot and they were both about 120,000 miles. The Subaru ended up needing a new catalytic converter which is explicitly not covered in the service contract. Nick the GM approved a full replacement of the converter and both oxygen sensors at no cost to me! The Audi needed a new MMI control knob, center console, and passenger window which were also replaced at no cost! Currently working on diagnosing and fixing the engine issue which reads as a sticky intake manifold and should be covered under the service contract. Would highly recommend visiting them for a great deal on a used car! read more

I bought a 2010 Subaru Outback here in March of 2024. I didn't think I'd review Northtown Auto Sales, but the vehicle I purchased has not been what I expected especially because I paid nearly $5000 over KBB value. As well as a $3000 "maintenance package". First, this dealer is very high pressure. If you are a female, do not shop here. The salesman I worked with was polite and friendly, but would continually pressure me to stay when I said I needed to think about the vehicle. I asked if I could take the car to another shop and was told that wasn't possible. When I asked to see the CarFax he provided an off brand maintenance report that did not include the work I found later on a CarFax report. The dealer's shop had coated the entire undercarriage with an undercoating/rustproofing. I've since had my mechanic show me the undercarriage and there is no recovering from the damage the rust has done to the underside of this vehicle. It's incredibly unsafe, and should not have been sold in the condition it was in. A couple of months after purchasing the vehicle I had multiple headlights burn out. I called the shop at the dealership to help me replace the bulbs (2010 is notorious for difficult bulb replacement) and was quoted over $200 to do the job. I'm unsure why all bulbs were not replaced before the car was sold. Five months after purchase I had to buy new tires. All four were dry rotted. I'm unsure why that was not addressed before sale. Overall, I realize I should have been more assertive and said no when I felt I was being pressured. But no business should treat their customers the way I was treated here. I bank with Horizon Credit Union and plan to file a complaint with them about the business practices of Northtown Auto Sales, so that hopefully they will drop their loan business to prevent more locals from buying unsafe vehicles at inflated prices. read more

I'm sorry to say I had this experience, because Jocko, Jason, and the many J's were wonderful helps, great personalities, and excellent helps. Bought a Subaru Forester from them, didn't even try haggling cause the guys were nice and helped with the financing concerns. Unfortunately, when I drove the vehicle home, there was a terrible rocking sound. Over the next month and a half, we returned the vehicle three times to try to identify the cause, and everyone was stumped. Now, to be clear, I also work out of the area - a LOT. Back in town for only a week at a time, tops. Anyway, finally got advice from a friend and found the source of the problem - Lower Control Arm Bushings were bad. A little research revealed that's exactly what the problem was. Jocko, the Sales Manager, the mechanic, everyone was cool and under the impression they should help pay for the cost (I didn't ask them to cover the cost, it had been MONTHS by the time I found the issue), but I expected to ask for 50/50 or even 80/20, SOMEthing. This problem existed the moment I drove it off the lot (symptoms only appear at highway speeds). Nick, the GM, reportedly (by a couple employees) said "it's been five months, I'm not doing anything for him." For a problem everyone in there knew existed before they left. Got a $1,000 bill to fix it (and when it was apparent I was paying for repairs, suddenly there were other critical issues like a rusted sway arm [?]), paid it, and car works now. Overall, random things you expect to pay for in a used car - headlights, windshield wipers, random TLC. But the control arm struck my nerves. Nick has refused to call me back for three days now, so I'm taking it as an expensive lesson. A sad and apologetic one-star because everyone I talked to was NICE. Given the price of everyhting being insane right now, a lowdown in auto sales and the UAW strikes bound to create supply issues that drive up prices, I will be in the market for a truck next month. Went there to look at a couple cars there but they were all pretty trashed. The main car I was looking at was the red Mercedes 250CLA. The car was trashed, especially for the price they had on it. The door wasn't closing all the way, interior dirty and dusty and on top of all that the tire went flat. I told them to call me once they at least fixed the tire so we could test drive it and they said oh yeah it'll be done before the weekend. I waited a whole week because they never called and said it wasn't ready but would be in the shop tomorrow. I called back about another week later because they still never called back and the car wasn't fixed so eventually I gave up on them when they couldn't call me back twice. read more

I am trying to reach the owner about the car I bought in June. It was sold to me saying it was inspected for safety and checked that critical features were in good working order. Randy, I brought the car back to have the tire repaired as it was sold to me with the indicator light advising a bad tire as well as a light bulb out. The repair shop and poor boys where I was told to go both said those minor repairs were fixed. They weren't. Both warning lights were still on. I was told I needed to sign a second contract after a month. I did not notice that $90 had been added to the principal. I have gone in to ask twice why and what that extra is. Both times I was told it would be looked into. With 60 months of payments, that extra $90 is a lot more with interest. I should not have been told to sign a second contract. I went in after suffering a severe concussion to sign because the finance department told me I had to right away. The vehicle has a total of 8 problems that should have been inspected per the contract and advertised sticker. I would never have purchased the vehicle if it did not show the certified inspection North Auto sales sticker. I was baited by what I was told and shown and then discovered it was lies to cover the switch. After my last attempt to have the 8 repairs done, understand the additional money added to my contract. The sales man could not figure out why, but did take my car to your repair place. After waiting 10 days for my car, I went to check. The manager at your repair shop is by far one of the rudest men I have dealt with customer service wise. He told me that other cars were scheduled for repairs before me and then had me schedule 3 weeks later to be seen. Some of the critical issues include an exhaust leak, headliner falling down causing vision obstructions, break light out, etc. I could have been pulled over and ticketed for just the light being out. That light was out upon purchase in June. It is September now. The car I purchased has been back in your repair shop now since Tuesday. I have no idea how long it will take or what the plan is. But with the medical problems regarding my concussion I had to spend $90 on lyft rides. I have respectfully asked to return the vehicle as what I purchased is not what was advertised and get my $2500 cash deposit I gave. I was immediately told no and said it would take years to try to get the lemon law enforced. Randy, these issues are beyond unethical. Please help me. I keep shelling more money for a vehicle that is not safe to drive upon purchase that is in your shop for a 3rd time. And I am having to pay for transportation costs because the car I bought is back in the shop. I have lost faith that the repairs will even be completed as they were not the last two times. I do not recommend. This is definitely your stereotypical used car lot. 1. They will ask you to sign conflicting documents. I was asked to sign a 'As-Is' contract, along side a 'Due Bill'. The 'As-Is' contract stated that I was purchasing the vehicle as is; While the 'Due Bill' states that are promising to fix something because I'm buying the vehicle. Neither document mentions the other. Nor were they willing to make them reflect. 2. They will alter agreements in their favor. If you're not familiar, The salesmen use these little quadrant pages while they work the financial side of things out with you, they have you sign off on it, telling you you're 'locking in that deal'. Then approach with a 'new' deal when you're about to pay the agreed upon down payment. In connection to reason 1, I did not buy the car same day. The vehicle I looked at had a cracked windshield (from side to side in line of sight). I told them I would not purchase a vehicle requiring such a repair. From the day we made the deal, to the day the windshield got fixed, the terms of the loan magically changed. 3. Clearly, they will waste your time. Got a Cadillac back in April, didnt even make my 1st monthly payment before i had to get major break repair, i was told it was at the passing point for inspection and they didnt do anything. I have bought two vehicles from this dealership. Even though they are nice at first, once they have you they treat you different. The truck I just bought from them has several issues. I was told they would repair my sunroof and it's been almost 6 months and they haven't gotten back to me. Now rain is getting into my headliner and dripping onto my seats. The amount of issues I had with both vehicles is rediculous. I will never go back. Plus the finance guy was on something because he was twitching and all over the place. This place has vehicles that look nice but aren't. Typical used car dealership. Stay away from this dealership, shady shady shady, promised all sorts of repairs to be done to a car I purchased from them, none got done or even talked about after the fact that I signed paperwork. Lied about financing so they could go through their place, told me STCU wouldn't touch my loan, big lie. Tacked on a useless "warranty" that I didn't ask for, when I asked for it to be taken off they said they couldn't do the deal without it. Within a month I've had to replace some suspension parts on the car, when I was doing that I inspected further and found a CV boot packed with grease. No wonder my test drive was so hurried. Terrible costumer service! Awful automotive service! And more ! My mom bought her car a little over a month uses it nothing but to and from work. Her ac/ heater doesn't blow so that's why she initially set up a time for her car to be checked out then she proceeded to find two more issues and wrote them down on paper as well as told the man who helped her of the issues already happened and need to be fixed. They were all ignored the car was gone for three days and not a thing is changed or fixed no explanation on what they did to the car. The seat was clearly unmoved and another issue was that the driver side window washer spray didn't work... that's an easy issue to fix for a shop especially since my mom works early am she needs her AC/HEAT and windshield wipers along with the fact I test driver her car around the block and audibly hear the squeak as did people around me but the technicians did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. THIS IS TERRIBLE SERVICE . Mind you this is all supposed to be covered with a warranty we purchased (of course there's a deductible). There was undisclosed poor quality paintwork on the passenger side doors, check engine light on with multiple fault codes, oil was down 1 quart, and the front air shocks had a major leak. Stopped by to check on the price of a car as they do not list them online and I never received the call back about it I was supposed to. When I was told the price it was shockingly high, I asked why it was 2-3 thousand more than others I had seen. I was told, "well, we paid to much for it". They then tried to offer auction prices for my two trade vehicles. While I was waiting on info from the manager a salesman walked past and farted as loud as possible trying to be funny and make other workers laugh. While talking with one of the managers about prices, values...etc. "He asked me if I was ready to make a decision or I needed to go and discuss it with MOM?" Please trust me, DO NOT go here if you have less than perfect credit. They WILL scam you. They say you are approved, have you sign all the paperwork and give you the keys. Then they try to find a lender to take your credit, causing several hard inquiries on your credit. Then, a while later (3 weeks for us) they call and tell you that you weren't approved and take the car back. Then, they will try to up the interest rates even higher to try to get you approved for something crappier. In the end, you either get approved with a ridiculous interest rate and your credit goes in the toilet or you are not approved and they take their time giving you your deposit back. Lots of shady dealerships do this to sell cars fast and rip you off. I have never gone through this at any other dealership. Please BEWARE! read more

He was the only person whom I felt consistently remained honest with us and when we had any issues he immediately called back and got things done (it was a sad week when he went on vacation). We had several issues initially with the car, got the run around until Josh spoke with me!! Everything got done as promised. We had purchased the warranty. A few months later had major issues with the vehicle to discover the car wouldn't be covered due to after market parts being in the car without our knowledge. Seriously Josh was a miracle worker!! The overall buying experience wasn't too bad and the vehicle I purchased is pretty much as described. The problem I have is that I was told when I bought the vehicle that the oil had been changed. When I got half way home the oil change indicator came on. I checked the oil and could tell that it hadn't been changed in a while, certainly not as I was told. This may not seem to be a big deal, but when you spend $11=k on a vehicle and come out of pocket with a down payment and then have to pay again to get the oil changed it's kind of a slap in the face. In addition, I have been waiting for a month for my title work to show up and it's still not here. I texted the sales person and was told I just might have to go get another temporary permit because it can take 45-60 days. This again is not what I was told when I bought the car and to be honest I don't know if it's even possible to get another temp permit and if it is that doesn't make it right because it takes time out of my schedule to go do that and I wasn't told this was going to happen. The salesman just told me that if I had an issue I could call and talk to management...Hmmmm, a little different attitude than when they were trying to get me to come buy a vehicle. The bottom line is that you need to verify anything you're told and double check to make sure it's accurate, before you buy, because after you buy the whole attitude changes. read more

We purchased a vehicle from them March 2nd 2022, we were assure the vehicle had no issues. We were assured that the vehicle had routine oile changes and a new battery. Within 2 weeks here are the issues we had to address; A new fuel cap, a new battery (2018 and dead) evap canister purge solenoid, a hole in the power steering leaking an alarming amount of fluid, differential needed serviced, oil change (20% oil and poor quality oil), transmission fluids, front 2 fender wells were missing, hose clamps were loosened and not properly installed, intake tubes were missing their clips to hold it safely into place. You can argue routine maintenance on the car, I'd counter that you shouldn't have to spend hundreds fixing a car you are financing before even needing to make the first monthly payment. We still get codes that flash saying there is a misfire, we are going to be diving deeper into that. My paper work states there are 2 key faubs included, I recieved one key no faub. Prior to signing paper work I was walking out to call my husband I was told "What If we can do $250 a month" I told them that was great and that I'd still need to call my husband. I called from the restaurant and stated that if they can do 250 a month they have a deal, I told that to two employees over the phone. I got back to paperwork with a monthly payment out of my budget, when I asked why they would offer a price they could not give I was told "I said what IF we can do $250 a month" I was then told they can go lower if my down payment was higher. I explained I was at max for both my down payment and monthly payment. I was told that if I put more down I wouldn't have to make a payment for a month. It was countered to them that I wouldn't have to make a payment for a month anyways. I feel like they took advantage of this being my first time financing a car and treated me like I was stupid. My mom was frustrated and texted the manager who assured her if I called he would want to do something to help. Well, I called multiple times on multiple days leaving messages and my contact info with multiple people and never heard back. I was given temp plates that expired April 16th. On March 30th I reached out concerned I had not received plates, I was told there was a plate shortage and that they'd send another temp and that when my plates come to message and they will ship them to me since I lived so far out of town. On the 31st I received a message that my plates were ready for pick up, I immediately responded asking for them to be shipped as I live so far and it is not a town I frequent. No response but I give it 2 weeks. I reach back out and I am told that they will be overnighted April 15th. It is April 19th and still nothing, though shipping says it should be here soon. I still feel soured though that first we couldn't drive it because all of the above needed fixed and now we can't until our plates arrive. Let me make this clear, they do not care about you. They only care about the money they can make out of you. They will get their money, one way or another. read more

Then needed a new drive line... now needs some more work done! Patrick Linebarger was my salesman and he was great! I don't buy cars very often, so he took his time with all the mountain of paperwork and explained things well as we went along. Their prices are reasonable and the sales staff was helpful, polite and treated me (older female) very well. I didn't find this dealership to play all the time eating games about "well, let me go ask my supervisor" junk either. It is a time consuming task to fill out all the paperwork but no one wasted my time with dumb hard sales tactics. My "new" truck is GREAT and I would definitely recommend these guys. read more
