I had an excellent experience with Northwest Frame Repair. I shipped in a pair of custom progressive glasses that had been sitting unused in their case for over a year. When I finally started wearing them, one of the arms broke at the hinge. Multiple local optical shops told me the frames could not be repaired, but I was referred to this company and decided to try. The process is mail-in. You complete an online form, print it out, include it in the package, and ship your frames to them. Once received, they perform a physical assessment of the glasses and provide a repair estimate. The assessment itself is free, and there is no obligation to proceed with the repair after receiving the quote. I appreciated having time and flexibility to decide. After I approved the repair and was able to arrange payment online, they completed the work and notified me when it was finished. I requested UPS return shipping for added security, and they provided tracking information through delivery. When my glasses arrived back, I was genuinely impressed. The repair is seamless & there is no visible sign of damage at the left temple where the break occurred. The frames were securely packaged and returned in excellent condition. I was referred to Northwest Frame Repair from an optician in Logan, Utah. My mother's vintage 1950's frames were refurbished and prepared for new lenses. Recently I was on Camano Island visiting my Brother. Unfortunately my frames got bent in traveling from Maryland and stopped into shop for repair. Quality of work is more than excellent, customer service is superb. Sent my beloved Maui Jim Kahuna Sunglasses to micro weld the temporal because the factory weld gave in, and to remove the powder coat and apply new one flat black (Kahuna does not come powder coated in black, only Gun Metal). Before finding Northwest I used a company in Singapore to do it (the other side of the world). Because I couldn't find anyone in the USA to powder coat Sunglasses Frames this was 5 to 7 years ago, and believe me I didn't left any rock unturned in the internet trying to find someone here in the US. I was so happy to have found NW Frame Repair! My favorite pair of Savile Row Windsor frames suffered a broken cable temple right at the flex point. I had a jeweler friend solder it back together, but it lasted only a month! I took a chance and shipped my frames clear across the country, I'm in NYC. I spoke to Sean on a number of occasions, and he could not have been more courteous. He assured me that he'd be able to get my frames back in service. Northwest MORE than lived up to my expectations! I had a pair of tortoise shell acetate frames that I LOVED...but unfortunately my parrot got a little overexcited and grabbed onto the edge and cracked the frame. Initially, I went in search of another pair that I could just flip the lens into...only to find the designer no longer makes that particular frame and no store I found in my Google Search had any left in stock (I even checked in Europe since the designer was French!). So...off to NWFR they went. I was optimistic, but to be fair, I sent them with unknown certainty of what would happen. Communication from the word go was clear and positive. I was told what they wanted to do, given the chance to say no (not that I did and sooo glad I didn't). They got on the phone with me when I had questions. They got 2nd and in some cases 3rd opinions within their staff to ensure where we were going and what we were doing would make me happy. They even reached out every step of the way to keep me informed (I felt like an expectant father waiting for my new child). And what I got back? WOW! They looked almost brand new. The repair is barely noticeable. You would never know these frames were as old as they are. For waaaay less than any new frames/lenses I looked at (let's face it...nice frames are expensive...and lenses are a small fortune if you need progressive), I got back a pair I loved and can expect multiple additional years of wear. In fact, I was so happy with the experience I have another pair that I had been considering sending to get "restored" with a new powder coating--and they will be on their way shortly. This time it's a pair of metal frames that are my "back-up" pair, but have gotten pitted over time. I've got no doubt they will come back looking amazing, with new color and new life. After receiving a new pair of ill fitting Dolce glasses in a warranty claim I decided to have them "custom tailored" to my face. The original built in plastic nose pieces were 19mm apart and I'm more of a 16mm. So I sent them off. They shaved the old pads off and polished the plastic so you can't tell they were ever there. Then installed their custom nose pieces and they even offered them in black as to match my frame. Job was timely professional and at a very fair price. I'm extremely happy! I have these sunglasses that I absolutely love, but they developed these brown stains on the front and the temples. Horrible Service, Damaged a patient's frame and did not call us to advise of the damage due to welding. they painted over the damage with a sharpie and sent it to us. When we called and complained about the incompetence, we got our account closed. this isn't the first time the service is mediocre, I have to refund a patient's order due to incompetence and negligence.
