NELLY who runs the front desk is an absolute nightmare. I think the dentists are busy so they have no idea what she's doing. it was the most unprofessional medical office I've ever dealt with in 20 years. She kept canceling my appointments because I didn't get a text two weeks in advance and confirm and then she wanted to charge me $50 each cancellation fee when she canceled me! You can't reason with some people and I think she comes with a lot of personal problems. I think this would be a great place if they had a different person at the front desk. Reina is lovely, but Nelly is completely crazy. read more

Been going to NWGD for at least 10 years now... still going even though I moved 30mins away. I started loving this place because they value their patients. I never wait more than 5 mins at the front waiting area (LOVE) and everyone, in general, is very nice and friendly, even the front office. Appointments are easy to schedule and reschedule by calling. As for the dentist and tech, I love Mary! She does such a great job on cleanings. Shes not rough and will take her time to go through everything in detail. I get four cleanings a year so I'm very familiar. I've talked to both Dr. Vakil and Dr. Otten, both very very nice as well. I didn't have anything major done, except for a chipped tooth, so can't talk much too their expertise in orotho-surgeries. Only downside, knocking off 1 star, is that the office is wearing down. Its definitely got age. The ceiling tiles and carpet are stained and the equipment, although clean, are old. How about spending some money for updates to the office? I think it will bring a better experience for visitors. read more

I'm in love with Dr. Vakil and his office. His office assistants Jessica and Carrie are amazingly friendly and really nice. Carrie always greets me with a great big smile and it makes me feel very welcome. Have you ever been to the same doctor's office or dentist office for years and still no one recognizes you? Not at Northwest General Dentist. And as a courtesy, they'll call and remind you if you need your annual check-up or when you have an appointment scheduled. I also love the fact that you don't spend the majority of your appointment in the waiting room. As soon as I get nestled into a really juicy Cosmo article then the dental assistant Gloria is singing my name and ushering me to the back. Gloria is great! She thoroughly and slowly explains every step of your visit and each procedure. She also goes the extra mile to make sure you're comfortable. I was cold the last time I came in and on my second visit she had a blanket ready to go for me. Dr. Vakil himself is a very attentive dentist. During any dental procedures he's always checking in with you and asking if you're doing okay. I also have a slight crush on his voice because it's very soothing and calming compared to the piercing sound of the drill. I recommend Northwest General Dentistry not because they have fancy technology, high tech computer screens, and high priced waiting room. They have none of that. They have something way more valuable: great customer service. Dr. Vakil and his staff have mastered exceptional customer service which can make any painful experience under the drill a little bit more bearable. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Otten for the last 4 years and he is fantastic. In the past, I've been very anxious and nervous to see the dentist but not with him. I've had a cavity filled and it was almost painless and I've also had a crown done with him. His office makes the crown while you wait so it's all done within a few hours. I make sure to request Mary as my dental hygienist because she is so kind, gentle, and sweet to talk with. I've referred a few coworkers to see Mary and Dr. Otten and they've been very happy with them as well. read more

A little over eight years ago I was in severe need of extensive dental work and I randomly chose NWGD (they're located close to home). Going once per month, it took 1-1/2 years to achieve good dental health; no doubt that I have one of the thickest patient files in their records so I feel qualified to recommend NWGD. Dr.s Vakil and Otten are highly skilled as is Mary ("my" hygienist). All of these folks are fully aware of the fear and anxiety some people experience when going to the dentist, and knowing this, they employ (gentle) technique and exhibit personalities that people will find comforting. The entire NWGD team is super-nice and the environment is pleasingly laid-back and calming. Dr. Vakil has spent many hours on my teeth and I've never had a post-procedural issue of any kind. Having had around 30 visits total now, NWGD has been remarkably punctual at keeping appointment times; rarely are they more than five minutes late and often were ready if I arrived 10-15 minutes early. This is a noteworthy achievement when you consider... NWGD takes exceptional care of and makes provision for their established patients in good-standing (regular check-ups, keeps appointments, arrives on-time and pays their bills). If you have an emergency or incident that requires immediate attention, they will make time available to promptly attend to your need. I've been a patient at Northwest General for about fifteen years, and I've always had a wonderful experience. Scheduling appointments has always been extremely easy; they are always able to see me the same week I call. I also love that they are always running on schedule, the moment I show up for my appointment, they are ready for me. I don't think I've ever had to actually wait longer than 5 minutes in their waiting room. Lately Katelyn has been my hygienist and she does a great job of talking me through my cleaning. I think because Northwest has always done such a great job with my teeth I've required minimal dental work, but the few things I have gotten done have been extremely painless and Dr. Otten and Dr. Vakil do an excellent job. This office treats you like family and is extremely professional. Even though I've moved away from this office I still make the drive to come here because I've yet to find an office I like so much and dentists I can really trust. read more

Kevin Otten is a terrible dentist. He filled a cavity for me and the filling had so much bacteria it led to a huge abscess. I had to go to a very well renowned oral surgeon to get it removed. The surgeon blamed the abscess on Otten's shoddy work. Do not go to this dentist! He will make things worse for you. Also the staff is very rude and incompetent! read more
