I would be very careful going here. They wanted to do two fillings in my elementary aged daughter and charge $300. Our insurance changed and I was able to go to a different dentist as well as a pediatric specialist, so two more opinions, and both said that she doesn't need ANY fillings. The other two dentists took X-rays and did a thorough exam and determined that there are no cavities and no fillings are necessary. So my question to unique dental would be, what on earth were you planning to do to my child's teeth?? Give her procedures that she didn't need so you could make money?? I would never feel comfortable going here again. read more

I got my tooth extracted here, not planning to take it out because I was scared that it was gonna be painful, but luckily I was given a chance to try their Nitrous gas which makes me so relaxed and my anxiety goes away. Will be back for my braces soon! read more

My husband and I have been patients at Unique Dental for a few years now. I finally was able to fix my teeth without braces. I had braces in my teens and didn't wear my retainer so as you can imagine my teeth shifted A LOT. Dr. Vi told me that I could use Invisalign to fix my teeth and with my insurance, it would cover a percentage. My Invisalign took about a year and a few months as promised and Dr. Vi also accommodated my request of a permanent retainer. They starting telling me how many problems I have and recommended over $1,000 dental procedures. So far absolutely aweful. Waiting area is very dirty and the foul order smells like dirty water and sour mop. Reception desk with 3 ladies that sing the songs on radio and sip sodas do not notice the crackers and cookies on the floor. However all of us noticed including the family that just walked in. But I have seen the other doctors too over the years and they are always fantastic including Dr. Hind and Dr. Ransom. I have been coming here for years... Nothing fancy but they get the job done... 2 cleanings a year and anything in between that needs to be dealt with... All the doctor's are good and patient... Let me start by saying that the dentists are awesome. I have been going to this office for over 10 years and never had an issue. I even had my mom change to that dental office and she agreed that the dentist was great. The only issues I have had recently are with the front office staff. They are rude and unaccommodating. They insisted that the dental insurance that I have is a discount plan but when I speak to the insurance they say that it is an actual insurance plan. I have not seen anything that says that it is a discount plan and I have researched the plan. I don't get that. The second thing is that when I was checking the codes to make sure that I was being charged correctly, some codes were not in the dental book. I checked with my insurance and they told me to have the dental office submit a preauthorization form to them. I called the dental office and spoke to Sherry (not sure if that's the correct spelling but she has been there for years). She refused to submit anything stating that it was a discount plan and so they don't do it for them. I told her that I just spoke to the insurance rep and was told by them that they would require this but she adamantly stated that she would not do it. I contacted my insurance and the rep placed me on hold while she spoke to the dental office. When she got back on the line she told me that Sherry was rude and would not do it because they were not getting paid to do that. The rep basically said that Sherry just didn't want to be bothered with it. The rep told me that she could not force Sherry to do anything but would submit the info to her supervisors where it would be reviewed and could possibly result in cancelling their contract with the dental office. I hate the fact that something like that could happen because like I said I love the dentist there; however, because of the front staff's bad attitude, I am also looking for a different dental office with better manners (and I'm taking my mom with me). I guess the front staff needs some better training or needs to be replaced. Customer service makes the business and even if they couldn't help with the insurance lowering the payments or adjusting the codes to validate a proper procedure (which if you are a patient here, check the lab fees because according to my insurance, they are not allowed to charge that and when asked about it, they said it was something else but the code is for a lab fee), maybe they could be a little more sympathetic or at least fake it. read more

Worse customer service on the phone ever! I will call my Dental Plan to change location. I called 1.5 weeks ago to schedule an appointment, they told me they won't have an opening until late August for cleaning & filling. Never been there. They checked & told me that my Dental Plan is accepted there. It said so on my card. Called again today, the girl told me that I have to call back on Monday so they can check to see if they accept my Dental there. Ok, I called back and a different girl picked up. I told her that I know that your location accepted my Dental, please check...I need to make an appointment. She put me on hold and the phone bounced around to different girls. Wth, really? How many times do I really need to explain to make an appointment? Am I begging? I am a paying customer. Imagine...customer service is already horrible on the phone. Beware of the female, scam artist dentist! If there were a way to give zero stars, I would. Totally aside from the fact that this office is filthy and the exam rooms are equally as disgusting, the female dentist quickly went through and pointed to three teeth and said, "extract, extract, extract" to the dental assistant. When I finally stopped her and asked what she was talking about, she said I needed to extract the teeth and get implants. She did not realize she was my second opinion and that I had already been told that I needed to re-root canal the teeth (very old root canals from childhood). When she realized I wasn't falling for her nonsense and that I wasn't an idiot, she immediately began to be "so sweet" and tell me that she was just trying to save me money. It was clear to me it was the exact opposite and she would make more money on implants - either directly or through referring me to someone to whom she has a connection. I was so furious when I was leaving that I said I was going to report her. The front desk person was very nice and told me to come back and speak with the male doctor - that he is great at "saving teeth." Not a chance. I went to two more dentists and endos, I didn't tell them what she said but inquired repeatedly if the teeth could be saved. Each one said yes, and the Endo I used even asked what made me think the teeth couldn't be saved. All three of my teeth were saved and are doing very well. The male dentist may be okay, but the female is a scam artist and I truly feel was trying to set me up for 20k in unnecessary dental work in order to line her own pocket. . Beware of her ethics. I will never return to this dentist. I went there once and had a cavity filled. I made an appointment for a root canal sometime later. When I returned, I was told that the office would not take my check. I was never told that before and there were no signs to indicate that. When I asked the rude doctor (Dr, Hines), he told me it was my fault because I did not ask! I made an apooint for 10 days later with another dentist in the office, since I did not care to see Hines ever again. Several days before the appointment, I received a call saying that the other doctor did not conduct the kind of preocedure I needed and asked if I wanted to see Hines again! I declined. I did talk to the owner of the clinic, who was very nice, but he is at fault for allowing the doctor and the staff to run such a disorganized office. And, there is no excuse for a doctor to be rude. If you go to this office, you will undoubedly will encounter problems. read more

If you are more concerned with a slick office and formal reception, this ain't your place. At this strip mall-embedded practice you won't find video screens on the ceiling or generous seating. The examination chair is cramped, uncomfortable. However, if you're looking for an experienced, delicate hand with concern for the patient, Dr. Vi Nguyen is a sound choice. I'm not a big fan of dentists- of the 7 or 8 that have attended to me, Nguyen is in the top 2; time will tell which. There are a host of line-item fees that inflate cost well beyond what is insured; for cleaning, that amounted to $75 *per-quadrant* for "irrigation drugs/meds" in addition to the base cost of $220. read more

Where do I start. I came and the ladies at the front greeted me wonderfully. The dental assistant who was very friendly by the way took my x-rays and I didn't even gag or anything; it was quite comfortable. And the best part of all is the dentist Dr. Vi Nguyen is hands down the best dentist I've known not only did she greet me with a smile she explained in every detail everything i needed to get done. she actually cared about my teeth I could tell this lady wasn't interested in money at all she is all about helping my teeth she gave me so many options for my dental treatment and so many tips on how to take care of them properly actually all the ladies that work there did. I must say this dental office feels just like home. I'm just in shock about all these nasty reviews because I have nothing but nice stuff to say about this office. I had a filling that fell out and Dr. Hines recommended a crown or just fill it in again, I should've chosen the latter! After he drilled my tooth to a small nub, he went next door to work on another patient. By the time that he got back, my anesthesia was completely worn off and when he put the crown on, the pain shot to my brain and TEARS flowed uncontrollably (I have a very high pain tolerance). As a dentist, he should've known how long the anesthesia would last. He must've known he did it wrong and his assistant seemed incompetent too. Afterwards, he struggled to make the crown fit, and to this day, I constantly get food stuck in the crown. Biggest dental regret of my life. read more

About two years ago, my tooth was throbbing to the point where I almost fainted from the pain while driving to work. I was popping aspirin like tic-tacs and I had an arsenal of toothache cream in my purse. Went in, they couldn't see anything wrong (took xrays)? Finally, it got to the point where I was BEGGING for a root canal. The dentist (female) told me she was going to "try to save the tooth". The assistant actually said "Great, I hate root canals, they take too long" I said "Um, if that doesn't work then I will need a root canal, correct? She said yes. I am thinking "Wait, TRY to save the tooth-I pay. Procedure fails, I then need a root canal for which I will have to pay AGAIN." At that point, I just said "Please do a root canal, I am in way to much pain for this tooth to be saved" Turns out the roots were calcified and yes, root canal was required. I now have better dental insurance and will go elsewhere where I don't feel like I am being scammed. The positives of this place are the great front office staff and that they have weekend hours. read more

Very unprofessional front line staff. I called several times starting in January 2014 to make an appointment, I was told that I didn't come up to there list so that I couldn't be seen here. I didn't know what list she was talking about, I had just started using this insurance and was just trying to make an appointment. Young lady on the phone was very rude and not willing to help. At the next month I called to get a an appointment and asked for same day appointment because I was having some issues and was able to get the appointment and I called back several times for the information requested. I explained my situation and was told to come in and they could see me. I left work early and when I get there for 430pm appointment I was told that they didn't have my paper work for my insurance information and I said ok and asked if I could pay cash and they said no! Who doesn't take cash I was wondering????? But needless to say I called my insurance company and couldn't get anyone on the phone because it was too late in the evening. The clerk told me that it was to late for the dentist to see me and I had to reschedule and I did and asked to speak to the manager it was her and I asked for someone over her and she explained that they would be in later in the week. I asked for name and number so that I could call and make an complaint. I rescheduled an appointment for later in the week and then I thought that the issue was over and then I receive a phone call later in the evening explaining that they needed my paper work before I could make a appointment. I wasn't told that when I left the office and I told the young lady that I would call them in the morning and have the information faxed over and she said they where closed the next morning and I said ok and I said that they can still fax over paper work and they would have it in the morning, young lady said no. Then I asked again if I could pay cash and then said no again and I asked why she stated 'that I am in the company with insurance and I have to use my insurance' that to me doesn't make sense. The young ladies working at this office don't know anything about customer service. Very unprofessional no name tags on, don't know how to answer the phones and don't know their own policy and procedure. I would not refer anyone to this office!!!
