Our first time at Nadine's but will not be our last. I have driven past a million times and always dying to go. It is on my way to work but not close to home so i took my husband's birthday to finally make a date there. So charming, amazing friendly staff, efficient despite having to weave through the packed house and the food was very good!! "A good place to stop for a beer, but don't try the food." First, the good: Nadine's has a solid selection of Austrian and German beers, appropriately sized, delivered by friendly servers. The outdoor seating is pleasant (dogs welcome; all we saw were well-behaved) That's it. On to the food. We recently braved the Friday night parking scrum to try several apps and entrees. (Two of us had traveled in Germany and Austria recently.) For all dishes, we were surprised by how bland they were; no salt or mustard was on offer, either. Our sausages arrived tough and chewy, almost jerky-like. They had either been overcooked to start with, or had sat under the heat lamps too long. It was too bad as we were especially interested in the Venison and Wild Boar; but by the time it arrived, it just tasted like leathery bacon. Our salmon entree was good, but we couldn't taste even a ghost of white wine in the sauce. Our chicken was another poor showing--dry, stringy and tough. Once chicken dries, there's no way to get the moisture back in it, so the tablespoon or so of gravy availed us nothing. The accompanying small salad was tangy, but also wilted and shriveled. I'd be pretty worried about trying a staple like Wiener- or Jager-schnitzel, both cutlet-based, thin, and vulnerable to overcooking. I wouldn't return. If you have to go, try a special such as Sauerbraten or Bouillabaisse, which, by definition, can't be served too dry. read more

What a treat! We just moved to lower Westchester. We drove up from Bronxville as the "German" places here are ehh... The place is small but the portions are HUGE! The food was as good or better than Zum Stammtisch (Best German in NYC (Queens)) As an appetizer, we ordered a warm Pretzel and the sauce for it was A++. The Jagerschnitzel I ordered was HUGE and the Mushroom sauce was on point! My wife got the Wienerschnitzel and it was even bigger! She loved the Potato Salad. She wanted to order a take home German Potato salad but the house ran out. I let the server pick the beer and it was "GUT"! A perfect meal for a cold January Evening. Everything was great! From the moment you walk in with a kind greeting till the moment we left with a wish for a good night and a safe drive home. The drinks were delicious - we ordered an espresso martini, chocolate martini and a gin and tonic. No complaints from the drinkers. Our meals were expertly prepared like the old country. Pan seared duck, Pork Meatloaf, Sauerbraten and Jagerschnitzel. Deserts were the Apple Streudel, Apricot Crepe and the Toasted Almond cake. I've been to Nadine's a handful of times and have really enjoyed the food here! Portions are amazing and I really look forward to the specials. My group got the amaretto duck special, seared ahi over wasabi mashed potatoes special, and the chicken wienerschnitzel. We also got the escargot appetizer, which is a must each visit. There is indoor and outdoor seating and I highly recommend the outdoor seating as it's super cute, well-shaded, and the garden flowers make it feel like you're hanging out in your own backyard with friends. Service is amazing and very attentive. Nadine herself has always checked in at our table and that really shows how much passion and love she has. Stopped by for brunch on a Sunday. They don't have a brunch menu so we shared several appetizers and drinks. They have a lovely outdoor patio where well-behaved dogs are welcome. German folk music played over the speakers. Lots of shady spots and close proximity to the bike trail make this a perfect place for a summer day or evening! read more

Call it fate or serendipity or just the favor of the food gods, but whatever it was on that beautiful afternoon that took me by Nadine's I am most appreciative. My time in the Hudson Valley area was short and I was making a 45 minute drive to try a coffee shop (I've driven further) and about midway I saw people sitting outside enjoying their lunch. Per usual, I pulled up the almighty Yelp and discovered it to be a mix of German and French cuisine. Count me curious. I continued my caffeine quest and soon returned for a late lunch. First of all if the weather permits, please sit in the beer garden. It was such a relaxing space. This place is sitting almost flush with a two lane road that is engulfed in woods. You step out of your vehicle to serenity, and amazing aromas. I immediately skimmed the beer menu (after all, German food without beer is some form of national insult I am sure). I ordered a lager and yes, it comes out in a frosted stein. I was not here to play games so I skipped the appetizers, though they did look delicious. I ordered the trio of sausages. Weisswurst, Garlic, and Bratwurst served with sauerkraut. If it is your first visit or only visit, plan to make that your order. It will showcase their skill set of presentation, sausage making, and sauerkraut production. Sidenote: quality sauerkraut is delicious all by itself. I asked if it was available for purchase by the jar (it wasn't). Every bite was a moment of bliss. And the ice cold lager was a perfect pairing. But if you know me, you know I don't leave most places without dessert. And this was no exception. I was in search of a menu item that would 1) clean the palette and 2) be warm, as there was a cool breeze blowing that afternoon. I found both in the warm apple strudel with whipped cream. Again, everything was made in house. Nothing from the freezer or a box or a can. Plated like a work of art, and tasted like one as well. If you're coming anytime between May and September, make a reservation. We came in April on an early Sunday evening and it was perfect. We sat in the Biergarten out back. Glad we came in one car because parking is very limited (try to carpool!) There's a daily special, go for it! We're actually plotting our next visit based on which day certain entrees are available (check out the photos of their menu and you'll see what I mean, for instance: Saturday is Beef Goulash, Sunday is Chicken Cordon Bleu.) We had the Jägerschnitzel and the Rack of Lamb. Very generous portions and tasty. My guy was stationed in Germany and said it all tasted as he remembered. So high marks! Make sure to leave room for dessert. We had the Apple Strudel. It was so very good! The staff was attentive and the outdoor seating was refreshingly comfortable. 4 of us came here to celebrate a friends birthday. Starters - perogies with sauerkraut was my favorite. Soft and nicely stuffed. Hot pretzel with mustard was good I had the trio of sausage with sauerkraut minus the one with veal (I don't eat veal) I tasted some sauerbraten with spatzle and red cabbage. Good but the meat was a bit tough Chicken weinerschnitzel I didn't try but it looked like it was screaming out for mozz cheese and sauce. Came with a brown gravy. Also a special of beef goulash The deserts were very good. Apricot crepe with vanilla icecream and warm apple strudel with whipped cream. Coffee was good. German food isn't my favorite so it's hard for me to judge. Just give me warm German potato salad and I'm good. That's what was missing here!! Amazing food, beautiful biergarten. We've been coming for years but they recently upgraded the biergarten to include all matching chairs, and TONS of flowers. It's gorgeous during the day but if you time it right and get to be there after the sun goes down, the lights are magical. Hot pretzel is my fave appetizer- the mustard is AMAZING. my husband loves the pork schnitzel and I am big fan of the venison. They have daily specials too. Service is wonderful - staff are friendly. It was a nice night on November 1 and we sat outside in the beer garden. Lovely place. The server was great and helped with some decisions. They had the fire pit going. We started with beer of course. All of the food was amazing. We had the pierogis, foie gras terrine, jaegerschnitzel (i had chicken and my husband had pork). The red cabbage and spaetzle sides were very good. We took leftovers home and had for dinner the following day. For dessert we had the apple streudel with hazelnut ice cream. It was a beautiful day to dine outdoors as the summer fades into Fall. Nadine's takes online reservations regardless of party size but can't guarantee outdoor beer garden. First come first serve as most places are that offer al fresco dining. I made a reservation a few days prior to dining here and glad we did as the outdoor patio/beer garden filled up quickly and we were able to get a table for two with an umbrella. A good portion of the menu is German or Austrian food options so I went with a nice glass of Riesling. The pour was OK given the size of the wine glass. It was on the sweeter side which is what I prefer. My husband had a Bloody Mary which had the right amount of spice, two giant green olives, slice of lemon and line and a gherkin. You could see the horseradish floating in the glass which is the sign of a good Bloody! We decided to split the pickled herring in sour cream. It was served with capers on a bed of greens with a basket of toasted bread on the side. Thoroughly enjoyed the not too briny herring. The Weiner schnitzel was served with a mayo potato salad and very thinly sliced cucumbers. You had a choice of pork or chicken and for $6 more you could make it ala Holstein. For me it's the only way to fly. Two perfectly cooked fried eggs on top of a massive and I mean massive pork cutlet with capers and anchovies. Each component of the dish was tasty and very hearty. I couldn't eat more than half the schnitzel so went home with the rest for dinner. My husband ate the pork Jägerschnitzel which came with hot pickled red cabbage and spätzle. The Jägerschnitzel is served with a mushroom brown gravy on top. Again another massive piece of pork schnitzel. He too could only eat half. The outdoor patio has heaters and more than several large picnic style tables to accommodate a large party. The dining rooms inside looked very nice with tables placed with ample room in between them. We don't have many if any German, Austrian or Bavarian restaurants in our neighborhood so I'm looking at returning for a few more of those staples along with making room for their apple strudel. read more

Great place for authentic German food. The service is friendly and exceptional. My wife and I went with another couple and shared a couple of appetizers and three entrees. It was more than enough food for all of us. As an appetizer, the kale salad was delicious and I would highly recommend it. The pierogies was also good, but I would try something else next time. They had a wild boar special when we went and it was outstanding. There were a couple of ribs that were so tender. Outside of that, I would recommend the schnitzel, which was my favorite thing I had for dinner. The butcher's plate, which was a sampler of different sausages with some potatoes, was also very good to share and sample different items. Nice menu. Everything we had from venison to pork tasted great. Their spaetzl was dry and needed salt in the batter. French onion soup was much messier than it needed to be and our entrées were warm and not hot. I would still go back.. but not in winter. I stated in my reservation, not to be seated near a door or window. I was seated next to a window. Big draft and 25°. I had to keep my bulky coat on. Based on posts I've seen on Facebook on foodie pages, I wanted to try it out. We went without a reservation and took a chance. They asked us if we had one, we told them no, but they were able to accommodate us since it was still fairly early. We started with French onion soups and a pretzel. Both were very good. I had the jagerschnitzel and my husband had the wienerchnitzel: both were very good. I think my husband wished his had some sort of sauce, but he used the pretzel mustard to sauce it up a little. He really likes the cucumber salad and potato salad. My jagerschnitzel came with cabbage and spaetzle. Everything was good, but I wish the spaetzle had butter on it, like my grandmother used to make. We had drinks which were made well, our appetizers were muscles and perogis with a sauerkraut gravy (amazing) and for dinner our friends had the oso bucco (excellent) , the venison, (very good), pork Wiener schnitzel with egg and mushroom gravy (we added gravy because it needed something more), and I had the cod schnitzel special (excellent. And for dessert we had crepes and crème brûlée. Delicious. I have to say one thing that really stood out to me was the wonderful customer service.
