Was not happy with the treatment female owner gave us. There was hardly no one in the restaurant and She had us waiting almost 2 hours for food and appetizers while she served her friends who came in after in less than 20 minutes. When we inquired about the appetizer and food. She completely disregarded us. She asked the server to tell us that there was a delay because they ran out of Food. Which clearly was a lie. When we asked for the bill for the wine we got in plastic cups while others got glass they charged us for the appetizer and food we never ate at the restaurant. So disappointed. read more

So i don't normally write reviews but I felt like this one needed to be heard. I've heard so many great things about this place and I wanted to love it but I must say I don't. The food is great but the service is terrible! I have been in there twice first time I went in for dinner on a weeknight and it was not busy so I figured my wife and I would have a nice quiet dinner together but I was wrong! Being in the industry I tend to notice things and understand the way things work but the server was clearly annoyed that we came in. As soon as she dropped the menus she told us the kitchen closed at 9:30. She rushed us to order understandably so and we quickly glanced the menu and ordered our food and drinks. When the food came she placed our check on the table without asking if needed/wanted anything else. So when I asked for another drink she rolled her eyes as she walked away. We felt like we were a bother to her and did not enjoy ourselves so we paid and left with most of our food Togo. Second time I went was the Saturday before Christmas and sat at the bar for drinks with some friends. Being a guy I didn't mind but I did notice that she favored the male customers over the females I felt so bad for one customer I even offered to order her drinks for her. Anyhow I had 2 drinks my tab was $26 and I gave her $30 I watched as she walked away and instead of putting the money in the register she put it in her pocket and never even asked if I wanted change. The bar was busy but not crowded so I found it insulting that she assumed I didn't need change and thought it was strange that the money went in her pocket and not even near the register. I've given this place 2 chances and will not be going back!! read more

This place is great. Eclectic feel with great Spanish food and diverse music. They have a full bar with no imitation alcohol. Friendly staff and down to earth real ppl. This place is a must if you are ever in Bushwick! I recently celebrated a birthday there and we had such a marvelous time! The food is amazing (authentic Puerto Rican fare) and everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We had the plantano relleno, alcapurias, mofongo, and carne frita, (just to name a few) along with a delicious cilantro dipping sauce that was for to die for! The bartender, Melvin, is an expert mixologist who makes the most delicious drinks ever! His wife, who works in the kitchen, was beyond awesome and kept bringing us the delicious cilantro sauce since we kept raving about it. In short, the staff was very attentive and wonderful, the ambiance was great (laid back), as was the music and décor. The outdoor seating area is just the icing on the cake! I had visited here before and the food was okay but unfortunately I had to remind the waitress Nelly for my food which then arrived frozen in the middle. I had ask to remove it from the bill since I didn't want it. Then I was told that the manager stepped out and she couldn't remove it with out his approval. So she offered two drink in replacement of the food. The tonight on Halloween my family and I decided to try it one more time but this time around everyone got the food with obviously Nelly screwing up again on my nephews plate. My son's order whichtook 25 mins until I asked and it still hadn't arrived. While I was waiting from where I was seating I can see the kitchen/cook and of course the things you never wish to see with your own eyes happen I see my son's food sitting on the prep table but of course the cook has no gloves while touching my son's food replaces the buns of the sliders about 4 times then has a plate of fries sitting in a bowl then 5 mins later throws them back in the fryer. At this point I am disgusted and I stopped Nelly and told her to cancel my order cause I didn't want my son eating food from someone's bare hand . Of course the excuse again but this time we were told the manager stepped out to go trick or treating with his kids. So since we didn't get it removed we were offer drinks again but why should we have an issue with getting something removed but NOO we paid for it anyways but definitely deducted it from the Tio. This place had good food but will NEVER come back. I just hope the Department of Health would walk in after 5pm. Hopefully they can get a manager. read more

my sis, daughter in law and myself heard good things about Norwinds and that it was authentic puerto rican food, etc. we went last friday and to our surprise we were told that they do not serve rice and beans. we said ok. we didnt ask why bc we didnt want to put the waitress in a position where she would have to explain why. ok...we got past that but then after our meal, we asked for coffee. they said no coffee...we said what no coffee. in my opinion, this is not a fully puertorican food restaurant without rice and beans. the monfongo was good but the sauce needed to be a bit thicker. the flan needed more syrup and steak sandwich made with the tostones was dry. the chicken chunks were perfect. looking at how the neighborhood changed, i understand why the menu looks like they cater to "organic" folks. you get authentic puerto rican food at a hole in the wall. read more
