Went out last night in 18 degree weather for a quick bite, so glad we did. The food was amazing, the dj was playing all kinds of fun music and the waiter Hugo was super nice and accommodating. I usually don't write restaurant reviews, but my experience last Thursday made me feel like I needed to share what happened.Sadly, our waiter, Jasmine, did not meet even the basic expectations of good service. After we were seated, we waited for ten long minutes before she came to take our order. During our meal, Jasmine never checked in on us, leaving us to figure out things like getting drinks refills and ordering more food on our own. We often had to wave down another server just to get a drink. At one point, my friend even try to go to the bar to order, but the bartender was too busy too help. Overall, it was a really disappointing experience due to the lack of attention from the staff. This kind of service just isn't okay in any restaurant. To make matters worse, Jasmine added a 20% tip to our bill, even through the service was so poor. It's hard to believe that anyone would expect a tip like that with such disregard for customer satisfaction. I hope the management notices these issues and makes improvement for future customers. At this point, I must confirm that we will not be returning. I sincerely hope that chrome opens a location in Williamsburg soon, as they truly represent the best of Puerto Rican cuisine. read more

I ordered a few dishes from the catering menu and most of it was ok except for the so called "Baked Chicken " I was told when I ordered that the chicken is shredded but it looked more like it was chopped up. It was very unappetizing as it had large pieces of fat, small bones (which by the way are a choking hazard) and all the parts of chicken that most people don't care to eat. It was disappointing and I couldn't eat it. I also had to remove as much of the junk pieces as possible before I served it to my guests. Service was slow but some what attentive if that makes sense. We were sat at a table that had just been cleared but not wiped down. Drinks were great and so was the music. It's a local neighborhood spot and the vibe was cool. Food was good, my one and only issue with the food would be that they drowned the mofongo in their sauce. This is such a gem in the neighborhood! They have amazingggg Latin/Puerto Rican food, really decent drinks, and great music. The bartender and servers are also really friendly and super sweet. The Chicken Empanadas, Mofongo, and fried chicken were all really good. We saw a lot of people getting the platter of appetizers (which was huge!) and that also looked great. It seriously takes a lot of me to be "Wow'd" by my cultural food but Norwind's definitely left me very impressed. I ordered takeout through Grubhub and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the beef empanadas, Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and pulled pork sliders with French fries. The portions are very big and definitely fair to share with other people. I'd imagine I was going to get a small Philly cheesesteak egg roll but those things were big (2 stuffed pieces for $8) and a side cup of melted cheese, Yum. The empanadas were great but the beef did not have seasoning at all so I was least impressed with the beef empanadas. The sauce that comes with it (Mayo,ketchup type of delicious sauce) complimented the lack of flavor in beef empanadas though, so don't fret, it can be fixed. The pulled pork sliders were a huge hit! It was more like small sandwiches if you ask me. Those sliders were packed up with juicy pulled pork, white mozzarella cheese I believe and some sort of delicious pico de Gallo on top and of course some lettuce/tomato. I was really amazed by how delicious it was. I shared my Grub hub meal with 3 different people and I was left completely stuffed and satisfied as were they. It's like part of me just couldn't stop eating even though I was really full. I left a little in my to go container and had to throw it out with so much sadness because who really saves 1 bite of a pulled pork sandwich with maybe about 6 fries for the next day? Ha! I highly recommend Norwind's. In fact I'll be stopping by in person this weekend with friends so that I can brag about how I found a great restaurant with delicious food. read more

Restaurant staff are rude and cannot read instructions. I placed an order via Uber eats and specifically asked them not to add sauce to my mofongo. Sure enough my order arrives and my mofongo and meat is drenched in garlic sauce. I called the restaurant immediately after and explained to the lady over the phone that I specially asked them to pour the sauce on the side. I explained to her that my kids will not eat it if it's soaked in sauce. I basically was out on $15 because they don't know how to follow instructions. I told her I wrote it in the comments of my Uber notes. Her response was to me was "WELL I DONT KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU, HONEY". Basically it is what it is. Found this place after a quick thrifting trip. We were seated immediately because only two other people were there. Appetizers: chicken empanadas. They were super seasoned and moist! The dipping sauce it comes with is yummy Entrees: Shrimp tacos (2) Cuban Sandwich. Let's get into the sandwich! The pork was seasoned to perfection, juicy and tender. The bread wasn't overly toasted at all. Would definitely recommend the sandwich! Drinks: Henny Sangria and Rum Punch. I HATE the size of these drinks. As you can see in the photograph the cups are like 8oz and they were also $10 each because it was "happy hour". Could you imagine what the price would be if it wasn't happy hour!? I ordered a Cuban sandwich which was trash, it seemed like carne beef, like they put it through the pasteles machine before they served it. It was bad! we have eaten in many food places and the food that we received was not up to par. My son was not satisfied with his food which came with tostones topped with chicken. It wasn't a meal it was some sort of an appetizer. My 15 year old son is upset but did not want to send it back he feared they might do something to the food. My wife was also asking questions like do you think they are still serving Puerto Rican food here. As a Puerto Rican the food they served us I wouldn't give to my worst enemy. I am defi a fan. I cam here on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. There arent a lot of authentic Puerto Rican food spots. We had been craving a good authentic taste from our home island and we cam here. At first we were reluctant because of its name but once the food came out, everything changed. We ordered Mofongo wth Chicharon de pollo, steak and onions with Yuca fries and carne frita with tostones. Each item was made to perfection with a great taste of seasoning and not over done. Place is a bit pricey but worth the cost. Only issue I had was the size of the cups that you get drinks from. They were very small. Aside from that, i am a fan and will be coming back.
