This place is really off the beaten path. My daughter found it while searching for dive bars around Savannah. They have a small parking lot. There is a pretty good outside deck which seemed very popular. The bar looks like a pool hall when you enter having three or four pool tables. There are a few tables but most everyone sits at the bar. It's a good size bar. They don't have a beer list but it sounded like they have a lot of selections. They have most beers on ice so they were super cold. The bartender wasn't super. Excited about us being there but that's okay. It felt like the kind of place that has mainly locals. This is a local pub where you can find beer by the bottle (no taps) and play some serious pool. They have three pool tables, where most players brought their own sticks and kept score on official score sheets. There are only three booths to sit at inside, in addition to a large bar. We brought our child and it's probably not a place I recommend bringing children. If the weather is nice, there are a few outside tables as well. The place was not smoky, not sure if it is officially smoke free or not. FOOD The Philly cheesesteaks and chicken wings are the two items that are their specialties. Cheesesteak The cheesesteak was good, with soft bun, good chopped steak and perfect toppings of onions, peppers and cheese. Chicken Wings The chicken wings were good. You can order them normal or crispy. We ordered the garlic pepper, which were mild in seasoning, but delicious. The seasoning is a dry rub, not a sauce. Fries The fries were seasoned fries and very delicious. I am pretty sure it's the same garlic pepper seasoning as used on the wings we ordered. Tater Tots The tator tots came with the cheesesteak (or you can get fries but we already ordered a side of fries). There were a lot of tots! They were cooked with a nice crispy outside. I would have preferred more craft beer options but that was not really what this place is. This is a no frills bar with decent food and was very clean. Fairly strict clothing requirements that are nice in today's world. Food? Oh yeah. Floating lunch menu. Same daily things per weekday. I had the lasagna on Thursday. Fairly good but not mama's of course. Large generous portions, salad and garlic bread with a soda. $10.00 bucks - all in. Pretty cool deal. Couldn't get in on Friday- packed house for pork chop day. Diamond in the rough. I debated writing this for quiet sometime, just out of pure selfishness. This place is the perfect "dive bar" with exceptional food and customer service. All their food- regardless of its traditional bar theme- is homemade, fresh and will have you licking your fingers. The potato skins are honestly the best I have ever had. They bake, hollow out and re-stuff them by hand - adding everything you'd ever want. The mozzarella planks are fresh cut and fried - making them extra cheese and gooey. The chicken wings are the best in Savannah- so many flavors and cooked perfectly. Oh and the Philly cheese steak is simply divine. Which is to be expected since the owner is from Philly. However, we were for sure skeptical before we tried it, but we're insanely happy after. Plus it's served with their perfect French fries that I swear are coated in some sort of addicting seasoning. If you're lucky, they might have some Philly cheesesteak egg rolls left. The drinks are affordable and served by some of the most personable and kind bartenders. Norwood Tavern is a small bar that... According to reviews has great food. U shaped bar, and a couple booths (the latter lit by super bright fluorescent bulbs). Took my parents here a few days after Christmas for a quick meal after reading reviews. We sat in one of the booths... And waited, and waited. 15 minutes in, I went to the bar and asked if we should order there, or if they had table service... "Sorry, we're doing shift change. The bartender that starts at 7 will be over soon" (at 7:15). 7:30 rolls around. Both bartenders are still behind the bar. One is fratenizing with the 5 guests they had, the other is chatting with kitchen staff. I ask the same person if we'll be served, and ask for menus. I get 2 menus for 3 people, out of the big stack they had. 7:40, and we're sick of waiting. Initial bartender is gone. New bartender is stacking cups on the bar rail. I ask miss "starts at 7pm" if we will be served. A drunk patron tells me that she "isn't my bellhop", and the bartender laughs, and says... No, she won't be serving us at the table. This place was mostly empty... Maybe 5-6 people at the bar. We would have been completely fine with ordering from the bar, but how freaking difficult is it to walk over to a table and tell us that, instead of completely ignoring us? Why did the previous bartender assure us that we would be taken care of? It was much more expensive, but we ended up at Pearl's around the corner and had a fantastic meal. The cheap prices might be enticing, but avoid this place... It's pretty dumpy and the service is nonexistent. read more

I called three times. Three times someone picked the phone up after a dozen rings and hung up without saying a word. On earlier occasions, we have actually managed to place an order. The odds of our burgers being cooked through were about 50-50. I cannot recommend this spot except possibly on a Monday before 7 when there are two or three customers nursing a lukewarm beer. read more

Pot Roast and pork-chop days are my favorite, But all days are GOOD! We picked up a groupon or some other such discount to this place and thought we would give it a try. The food is so inexpensive the coupon almost wasn't worth the effort. The staff here was super friendly and made some especially hot wings for my wife who LOVES spicy. The wings are so good. Small, crisp & spicy (just like my wife). I got the philly cheese with very little expectation, but the guys in the kitchen know what they are doing. This was the best cheesesteak I've had in savannah. Love this place. Been coming her for years. Recently added the renowned Haley Mealor to the night staff 2 days a week, and the environment and overall team morale in the entire place is noticeable. I often see the term "buzzing" used referring to a thriving bar/restaurant, and let me tell you, this place is buzzing (Saturday and Monday nights) like an Armstrong campus Pike chapter the weekend of the annual Savannah Hockey Classic.
