You wouldn't expect to find such a sweet place here, but Nosh is one of the many wonderful small businesses tucked in one of the old buildings in downtown Mooresville. The best place to park is in the public lot at Indiana and Harrison, it's a very short walk. The inside of Nosh is always decorated so beautifully and it smells amazing inside. Jamie and Lisa are always so nice, helpful, and patient while my kiddos and I pick out our treats. My favorite is the macarons! Be sure to grab a pack while you're there. My kids love the paint your own cookies. Everything here is perfect for yourself or as a gift, I'm often grabbing things for other people. If they're open and we're in town, we ALWAYS stop! I will always recommend Nosh.

Very welcoming dessert shop in Mooresville. Might just be the nicest store in town. Great displays and delicious treats.

I made a point of stopping by this new bakery/Dessert Parlour in downtown Mooresville during their opening week. Free street parking made it easy to find a spot close to the shop. Being a renovated old building, there is a step up into the doorway and then a right turn to go up three more stairs to get on the showroom floor. The interior looks like they are still growing into the large space. They have a pretty "instagram" bench on the north wall, some beautiful wedding cakes by the front windows, and a long display/order counter along the back wall. Inside the cases are cupcakes, cookies including macarons, tarts, mini cakes, and several other options. After looking through the cases, I picked a chocolate raspberry tart (delicious blend of flavors), a pair of macarons (small and melt in your mouth cookies with a bit of chewy center) and a beautiful chocolate cupcake with coconut (think German Chocolate Cake icing) and pecan pieces. That was SO GOOD! The ladies working behind the counter were friendly and helpful and I was soon on my way. Now, if they could find a space for a couple small tables and maybe a coffee machine... Go treat yourself to some tasty baked goods and Nosh your way to a smile. Review #3286

I searched online from my location with a dream of finding a bakery to make my daughter a custom cake and deliver it to her on her birthday. A week ago I spoke with this awesome establishment over the phone with all of my questions, ideas and requests and the pleasant lady on the phone assured me that all of my requests were possible and suggested I get started on their online ordering system and while on the phone she had already sent me a link to get started. The online process was easy and detailed they kept in contact with me via email throughout that very day as I communicated my flavors and photos I had taken from my phone...yes they put all the photos I took on the cake and they are edible too! She even contacted me asking for more photos this was going to be very special for sure which they also delivered the beautiful cake to my daughter for me...it made my day my heart my dream and my daughters birthday come alive even though I couldn't be there myself! Sweet Escapes Cake Company made the entire process seem-less with there attention to detail and organization of the whole event in fact I feel like I made friends with the business they most certainly have a customer for life! I've joked about the donut wars going on in Avon, Indiana as my life has taken me through Hendricks…read moreand Putnam counties quite a bit lately. Avon has at least four donut shops within 1-2 miles of each other - Parlor, Dunkin, Pana, and Carl's. Of these, Carl's is clearly the "local" shop. It has the look and feel of a gathering place. While the others do offer sit-down dining, especially Parlor, Carl's feels like a smalltown donut joint with its simple but pleasant decor, lower pricing, and comfortable but pleasing service. Carl's Donuts & Bakery is a locally owned donut shop (Pana is also locally owned, though a growing chain). Carl's also doubles as a cafe and also serves other breakfast items alongside its donuts. The major plus to this approach for a guy like me is that fountain drinks are available including iced tea. I'm constantly dismayed how hard it is to get iced tea in donut shops. I was dismayed to read Jen F's review noting poor customer service as my experience was quite the opposite with customer service being a key strength. The basics: Carl's is located in what looks like a small office complex with a mix of retail and personal service type businesses. It's toward the back. There's some accessible parking and appropriate curb cuts. There's a double entry with glass doors that were pretty easy to manage. As you enter, a dining area is directly to the front of you and to the right side. To the left is the ordering area - I think I goofed up at entry - you begin toward the back and then exit out the front path. I went in through the front, though there wasn't a line and no one said anything. The employees asked if I was ordering breakfast or donuts. I typically get 2-3 donuts and a drink. I stuck with this plan, however, given the comfy atmosphere opted to dine in. I haven't had much time to rest recently and it was nice to sit down. I felt a little out of place (everyone else was clearly local), though everyone was friendly. I ordered chocolate covered yeast donuts and a fountain unsweetened iced tea. They offer discounts, it seems to military, teachers, and first responders. The donuts had a slightly thicker yeast than some that lean toward fluffy. These were more substantial. The chocolate reminded me of Titus Bakery. The iced tea was great - no clue on brand. I could have stuck with two donuts instead of three and been satisfied. The service was a top feature here for me. They were friendly, helpful, and patient as I figured things out. I watched them easily serve a group of senior males gathering in one corner (pouring coffee, etc.). Carl's does not have a drive-thru. Their Facebook indicates they offer curbside pick-up. In future visits, I'd likely experiment with donuts. This particular chocolate is not a favorite for me. I enjoyed it, but I'd easily experiment. There's no doubt I'd return for the service. At a time when I've recently lost my last family member, it was nice to be in a comfortable, welcoming, and warm environment. It did my spirit good. I would also love to return to enjoy a meal here. Carl's wasn't packed, but it was steady throughout my visit and it's clear that Avon loves its donuts and it loves its smalltown gathering spaces.

There was a line of people waiting patiently to select their donuts when we walked in. There were many cases filled with fresh donuts, fritters, danish, turnovers and more. Two clerk were assisting customers, most of whom were buying several dozen donuts. I got a glazed donut and my husband got an apple fritter. The fritter was bigger than his head. My glazed donut was a cake donut. It was light with a perfect glaze. The apple fritter was like a coffee cake with lots of apples and a glazed topping. He shared the fritter with our granddaughters. There was plenty to go around. The cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have daily meal specials. The lady in line ahead of us said the pork tenderloin is the best in town. Pork tenderloin is only served Monday-Thursday. We'll have to come back. They have about 20 tables for eat-in dining. There is a unisex restroom. Stop #4 of the donut trail will require a return visit.

BUT Communication: I was having trouble getting information out of her and had to ask several questions to get an answer. Response time took forever and the responses were very short UNTIL I started to speak about payment then everything was fine. style: Don't get my wrong the cake was pretty close (the two stars) We had a Taco Bell themed party and the inspiration cake was fake Taco Bell packs and "sauce" which I assumed would be made out of JELLY. NO, she put actual taco bell packets (did tell me she had to use real ones) and actual Taco Bell sauce on our cake that dried and looked disgusting. The very front of the cake was messed up. I was going to try and fix it myself when I got home but I was afraid I would make it worse. The whole thing just felt sloppy. Taste: This cake was not good. The layers of actual cake was thick and dry and the "filling" was so thin. The icing was thick that almost everyone picked most of it off and there was so much left over. And don't get me started on the taco sauce and the taste of that . Overall, I was very disappointed and will be going somewhere else next time.

I came for one free donut... and left with a box full of bad decisions…read more I'm originally from Connecticut and was driving through Indianapolis on my way back to Louisville when someone told me, "Don't leave Indianapolis without stopping at Long's Bakery." Whoever you are... thank you. You changed my life. The sweet woman behind the counter heard where I was from and handed me a complimentary glazed yeast donut. Let me tell you... WHEW! It wasn't even fresh out of the oven, and it still melted in my mouth. Light, soft, perfectly glazed... I knew right then I was in trouble. I ended up buying a box with blueberry cake, applesauce cake, cinnamon sugar, Bavarian cream, glazed yeast, and a few others. Everything was incredibly fresh, and at those prices, I had to double-check the menu because I thought I was reading it wrong! When I got back to my parents' house in Louisville, we warmed a few up for just a few seconds. Game over. They somehow tasted even better. My plan was to take some to church tomorrow to share... but judging by how fast they're disappearing, I may be testifying about them instead. Before I left, the woman smiled and said, "Make sure you come back when you're in town." Oh, I'll be back. I may even create reasons to drive through Indianapolis now. Long's Bakery doesn't need fancy displays or trendy flavors. They simply make outstanding donuts with friendly service and prices that make you wonder if they accidentally forgot inflation. 10/10. Worth every mile of the detour.
