Five star ambience, five star service and five star kimchi fried rice! The kimchi fried rice is one of the most delicious I've tried. The over easy egg on top mitigate the spiciness but did not overpower the taste a kimchi fried rice should have. It also came along with salad as side dish which is fresh and delicious. The interior is clean, bright and relaxing. Just this one time experience has made it my favorite eating place in the neighborhood. read more

I'm a huge fan of the bibimbap and their kimchi friend rice with the bulgogi. Very flavorful and the quantity is just enough to be satisfying. I love that their bibimbap has avocado in it and their gochujang sauce for the dish has a sweet tangy flavor that makes it different than other bibimbaps I've tried. The bulgogi is a must to add to the dishes, the meat is very tender and packs so much flavor. Haven't really had the chance to try their coffee but it looks and smells great! read more

I ordered the beef platter and my loved one ordered the Bibimbap both dishes were freaking amazing and packed so much Korean goodness. It was like eating at my best friends house. Hipster coffee slash Korean cafe deserves a chance. I stopped by this cafe after eying it for a couple weeks on my commute to the nearby G train stop. It has had a very soft opening and only recently gotten it's rather anonymous name "Nostrand" printed n the window. Seems like a young Korean couple are running thing and they are trying to offer rather carefully made coffee and hybrid-Korean dishes. I enjoyed the egg plate with a side of Korean style beef Bulgogi. Presented as a couple of sunny side up eggs on sourdough toast with a side of rosemary potatoes, sautéd mushroom slices and fried tomatoes it was sort of the coming together of a traditional English breakfast and bibimbap. They have bibimbap on the menu by the way and an interesting looking kimchi fried rice with bacon. I will stop by again. I am curious how this concept will do in this spot. Hopefully by a Summer the student population will discover it. If nothing else, you can get a good deal on a sizable plate of food along side your fancy cuppa. read more

DO NOT GO HERE, I BELIEVE THEY ARE RACIST I live in the community and just started coming here. the owner and staff seemed ok, a little weird whenever I came but I shrugged It off. I really hate how everything is always a black/white issue, but this last encounter, and how it all played out, I couldn't overlook this anymore! I came in sat down, saw the room had a few people there and had a quiet meeting with clients. I needed some change for the meeting, asked they didn't want to give me any. Usually ive been using my card so I never had to asked before. That was fine Shrugged It off. I had another client meeting soon, so I decided to stay there instead of going home. while there someone who looked white asked for change and they gave it to them I was puzzled, but I had another meeting, so I was getting ready for that. After my second meeting I was filling out paperwork and the owner or one of the many staff said basically I had to leave...I didn't understand why...he said I couldn't be doing meetings here...I was in shock really, because 1. there was a few people that meet others at this place and sat right next to me, so I know they were having a biz meeting to, and two people right in front of me as well. 2. I thought maybe I was sitting here to long, and that cant be the case because there was a white guy who was there before I was there and he was still there as I left. He was writing on his laptop. 3. Most of my clients are local and are black and now looking back, anytime I would have a meeting there the guy was always weird about it, and now I know why! His a racist, when he told me this the room wasn't full, but I believe everyone else was white or fair skinned. I was singled out for no other reason. Also every time I was there I always bought something to support, so I wasnt just freeloading & using there space, and was every quiet, just minding my business. Am disgusted & in shock that this happened in Bed Stuy smh! PLEASE DONT GO HERE!!! there is a Donkin donuts across the street or there is a nice place near the corner of the park read more

Second time I've had food here, both times have been fire meals. The pricing sucks I'm not gonna lie it cost me 20 bucks for a plate which was too much (I could've walked over ) but I had to get it delivered cus I was in meetings all day. Other than that the food is good and satisfying I do wish there was a bit more in the portions but the amount of flavor in the bulgogi makes up for it. Get the bowl with the rice not the plate if you want to get more full though. Def ordering from here again. read more

Came in on a rainy afternoon to warm up with some coffee and get a small breakfast. Coffee was good but I was terribly disappointed in the $5 breakfast sandwich. The bread was dry and cheap and the filling was sparse and dry as well. Other food might be good, but avoid the breakfast sandwich. read more

The service here is schizophrenic. The counterpeople are friendly and efficient even when busy. But when it's empty and it's just the owner, heaven help you when you try to place (another) order. It's a shame they can't afford full-time help. If you want a local cafe with consistent service, this place isn't for you. read more

Great authentic Korean food, a quiet vibe. I often come in to do work for a few hours and usually order the bibimbap. It can get a little dark sometimes, but the lighting sets a mood. Not necessarily a work productive one, but appropriate for the restaurant that it is. It's also stays open pretty late, which is nice and is a convenient walk from the Bedford-Nostrand stop. Most of the coffee options are good but the honey latte is a hard pass. Some of the prices are a bit high, but pretty typical of Bed-Stuy. You get a lot of bang for your buck and it's authentic in an increasingly gentrified area of Brooklyn. read more

I had the beef bulgogi bibimbap. Delicious! The beef was tasty and included a really good amount of meat. The rice was perfectly soft and sticky as well. This is a neighborhood spot for me so it's really nice to have some sort of Korean fix so close to my apt. The prices are on the high side for such a small cafe (15 bucks for the beef bulgogi bibimbap) but the meal was very tasty and appropriate portions. Even though it's on the high side in price I think that since there's not many Korean choices in bedstuy I think its price is justified. read more

What I love about Nostrand Cafe is the fact that you can come here for any meal or coffee and have a solid experience no matter the time of day. So far, I've had the bulgogi burrito 2-3 times, and more recently had the breakfast wrap. This is a much more preferable option to the Civil Service Cafe a few blocks down which tends to get crowded with laptops and people, and tend to charge $10+ for anything remotely filling. Of course, that preference could have to do with my love for Korean food. They also have pretty decent taste when it comes to cups and decor. Did I mention the bulgogi here is delicious? read more

Always past by this establishment en route on my haste to get home. But today, I stopped in for a quick bite to eat seeing that I was kinda starving and it was a bleak gloomy Monday eve. Came in and saw the happy hour beer, I thought to myself oh yay, Korean BBQ with Korean beer! Yummy! What a huge disappointment that they do not serve Korean beer in this establishment. Yet they only serve IPA's and the hipster Brooklyn ish.. lol like what kinda nonsense is that! No Korean beer? Disappointment aside.... However my beef Bimbimbap was fireeeeee!! I sat there in my window seat by my lonesome and people watched as I ate my bibimbap. Which was excellent! The best part was the egg on top. It was perfect! Not too runny and not too hard. The bugolgi breakfast burrito was delicious- bugolgi, egg, cheese, potato, and avocado. Seems like a great Korean fusion restaurant, not a far walk from my Bed Stuy neighborhood. Plenty of open space for a Sunday morning and they said they have wifi. Will definitely be back. read more

I ordered a burrito from this place. It's filled with Korean beef and rice it taste pretty good. I thought it was unique Korean food wrapped in a burrito. The atmosphere is different. There's a large table and you basic sit anywhere you want. The space is open. read more

Short story: This place is good. :) Edited to add: We've had dinner here now as well. It was also good. Food for omnivores and veggies. We will be back. :) ---- I was dubious when the old Chinese to-go place that was here closed and Nostrand opened, but having just finished breakfast I can say I dig it. I got the egg, potato, mushrooms, tomatoes, sourdough toast and added bulgogi. The toast looked great, big sourdough bubbles in it, I don't eat wheat, but my partner said it had a great flavor. The bulgogi was fantastic, I'd 100% come for it again, and the rest of breakfast was good. I had a soy latte too. Nice. They have silk soy milk, and regular milk. They have Oslo coffee, and a bunch of different cold beverages in the case, Dave's kombucha, coconut water, smart water, Perrier, bottled cold pressed juices, and they make smoothies. They are a new thing for the neighborhood, not just another coffee place, but great tasting, inexpensive food. We'll be back to try dinner soon. read more

This became my coffee place in the last couple of months. I was very skeptical at first (no cash, just credit cards?!?!), but it really isn't a big deal. The service is absolutely fantastic along with the food. Everything I eat there is a winner and this includes all of the egg options and the veggie bibimbap.
