The drive is an hour, but we take the time to do it because we know the live food is well cared for! The crickets and worms are ALWAYS LIVELY!! The price is reasonable and the staff and cashiers are always beyond friendly!!! Something that irritates me, BUT IM GRATEFUL FOR... When using a card EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU ARE CHECKED FOR MATCHING IDENTIFICATION!!!! This is the ONLYYYYYYYY store I deal with that does it! After the purchase I'm always grateful!!

I also remember the parrots at the front of this store. The service has gone down hill. The fish department is just... yikes. I've been in several times this month as I'm setting up and cycling a new tank. I purchased the tank here and wish I hadn't trusted them so much. I got the tank to start a neocaradina colony. This tank is not suitable for neos and was missing parts such as intake guard and beta flow nozzle. It's loud as hell indicating something isn't right. They said 30 day return policy but failed to mention the tank had to be unused in its original packaging. Sooooo my shrimp tank is missing key parts and is loud as hell but these tanks are typically quiet. Annnnnnd it's not suitable for shrimp. Also no one asked if I needed help I had to hunt someone down which seemingly annoyed them. The cashiers have always been friendly and helpful. Fish department is just... not what it used to be. When I asked where the neos were the guy just pointed down the row of fish and said, they're down there. Okay... lots of possibilities but okay. Good luck getting help with the aquatic plants. I was also severely disappointed to see Whitie's beta care. They have overly small tanks with betas which just keeps reinforcing improper beta care. On top of that the bettas that aren't in a tiny display tank are in even smaller cups than Petsmart! They can't even swim in a circle they are literally in small drinking cups. Most of them show signs of distress like fin clamping and their water was gross. This isn't okay. It's not terribly difficult to start a beta rack. They have such good care for their other animals. This was disappointing to see especially because they have other aggressive fish in proper sized tanks. Overall disappointing to see this and totally irritated to buy a 200.00 tank to learn it has missing parts and a return policy that was not at all clear. I hope they get their poops in a pile because this experience left a bad taste in my mouth in what has otherwise been a classic store my whole life!

I was told both verbally and in writing that I had seven (7) days to notify the rescue of any medical issues. Within that seven-day period, I notified them in writing that my newly adopted Persian cat developed yellow eye discharge, squinting, and signs concerning for an eye infection, which is not typical Persian tearing. I also notified the rescue of my concerns regarding delayed or limited access to medical treatment, as prompt veterinary care is important to prevent unnecessary suffering. Despite reporting the issue within the stated timeframe, I was informed that no veterinary costs would be covered, and that treatment would require returning the cat to the shelter rather than allowing local veterinary care. Based on the condition that appeared shortly after adoption, I felt misled by being told the cat was in "good health." While I am not saying this was intentional, the information provided did not align with my experience once the cat was home, which was concerning. I share this so future adopters can make informed decisions. Please be cautious, especially when adopting brachycephalic or exotic breeds such as Persians, which are prone to eye and respiratory issues. Clarify in writing what "good health" means and what medical support, if any, is provided after adoption.

If you're looking for a veterinary team that will truly care for your fur baby when they need…read moremedical attention, Fresno Veterinary Specialists is the place to go. I brought my dog, Peaches, here after she had already been seen by two other veterinarians the week before. The first vet prescribed antibiotics for what they believed was an infection, but after several days there was no improvement, and she began having bloody discharge. I then took her to another veterinarian, who referred us to an internist. They suspected a foxtail may have somehow made its way into her vaginal area, but after not finding one, they worried she might have a polyp or even a mass that could be benign or cancerous. Needless to say, I was terrified. As soon as I got home, I started calling the internists they recommended, but unfortunately, the earliest appointment I could get was a week away. In the meantime, the bleeding became worse, so I decided to take Peaches to the ER at Fresno Veterinary Specialists. It was the best decision I could have made. From the moment we walked in, everyone was kind and welcoming. We waited about an hour or two, which I completely understood, knowing there were other pets in need of urgent care. Once we were called back, the technician took the time to ask questions and gather information. Shortly afterward, Dr. Randy came in. He was thorough, compassionate, and genuinely concerned about Peaches. He explained what he thought might be going on and recommended sedating her so he could get a better look. I'm so grateful he did because he found a foxtail deeply embedded in her vaginal wall! He removed it, sent her home with antibiotics, and, to be safe, recommended that we still keep our appointment with the internist. Thankfully, the bleeding stopped the very next day and has not returned. Peaches is now back to her sweet, happy self. We did keep the appointment with the internist, and after examining Peaches, they agreed that no further procedures were necessary and that she appeared to be in good health. I can't thank Dr. Randy and the entire team at Fresno Veterinary Specialists enough for the exceptional care they provided. They gave me peace of mind and, most importantly, helped my sweet girl get back to feeling like herself again. Thank you all so much!

They were patient with us and him. They gave us a clipping of his long beautiful fur, paw print flowers painting and his nose with a little picture frame with a molding of his paws. They followed up with a signed card from the entire office which I thought was super thoughtful. I'm so glad we went with them at the end of our boys life. They were amazing, thank you Fresno Veterinary Specialty.
