I don't typically write reviews but our experience here was so bad that I couldn't, not share it. My hopes is that it might better their business. My husband and I love trying new places so we stopped in tonight to check it out. It was pretty busy so we expected delays. I can say that the food and drinks were pretty good but the service was AWFUL and that just ruins everything. Couple spots opened up at the bar so we decided to take them. We sat down and waited almost 10 minutes before anyone even noticed us, when they finally did it was almost as if we were an inconvenience, not the best feel. We had to continue to flag the bartenders down for each thing throughout our meal.... to order an appetizer, then once we received it we had to flag them down to get plates and silverware, then flag them down again to order an entrée, you get the idea. I wouldn't go out of my way to complain about it but listening to bartenders complain the whole time about what was going on, while we're flagging them down to order things does get a little old. WHAT REALLY FORCED ME TO WRITE THIS REVEIW was after watching one of the bartenders accidentally shatter a glass in the ice bin and see the other bartender continue to serve drinks out of it. The manager was standing right there when the glass shattered so he knew it happened!! The bartender who broke the glass did the right thing put some red juice in the ice and set up a secondary ice bin but the other bartender failed to notice. Once I realized that drinks were being served out of there I alerted the hostess, since the bartenders didn't pay much attention to us. Not sure how many more drinks went out, potentially with shards of glass. Needless to say I will not be back, which is a shame because the food was good. Beautiful restaurant on the Warwick Mall property! The building is beautiful, the service is great, and the food is wonderful. They offer a number of worthwhile specials. We tried the Wine and Dine special which is offered Sunday - Tuesday. We especially enjoyed the ahi tuna wontons and the nachos. I savored the best carrot cake I have ever tasted. read more

Excellent service every time we go. The Pomergrante passion martini is just to die for. I simply love the bacon blue flat bread as well. We get it everytime we go. I have to say I was greated by the loveliest ladies upon walking in. They were so friendly and accommodating I had to ask their names. Both Kayla and Kelsie made my experience very welcoming. They greated us with a smile and while we were waiting they engaged in small talk to keep us occupied. They server, Matt D. was very friendly and met all of my dietary concerns. Went here for the fiirst time, great food, we had the cheese steak rolls, veggie spring roll appetizer and got the flank steak sandwich and chicken piccatta entrees. All excellent, the foccacia and oil garlic cheese dip was ahmazing... Although i could taste it the next day, i craved more. My boyfriend decided he would, very lovingly, treat me to a nice birthday dinner at Not Your Average Joe's (my birthday is May 10th, but this was last year). Not Your Average Joe's had just recently opened and he had been bugging to try it, no wonder he offered to take me! I was very excited for my first experience here and even dressed up for the occasion. Once we arrived, having made our reservation earlier in the night, we were not-so-surprised to see the place packed. Now, there's nothing wrong with a busy eatery whatsoever, it's just not really my gig. Can't fault the restaurant for being popular! Anyway, we went inside and spoke with the hostess who was less-than nice. She wasn't rude, just...average, heh. After we sat down, we were greeted by our waiter who was very nice. He gave us our menus, took our drink orders, and left us to decide on what we wanted. Since, as I said before, it was my first time ever here, it took my boyfriend and I a bit to look over the menu and decide on what we wanted. Finally, we did. The waiter came back over and we explained to him what we would be having. I only wanted the French Onion Soup, because it's one of my favorite dishes. My boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger or some sort (can't remember exactly what) and we were going to get a pizza to split. Having said our order, the waiter responds with, "Wow, that's a lot of food!" Now, I'm sure it was meant as a harmless attempt at humor, but I was upset by that comment. Call me over-emotional, I don't care. It was uncalled for. Once our food did come out, we tried it, and it was very good. I enjoyed my soup, and from what I know, my boyfriend enjoyed his meal as well. When we were ready to go, our waiter brought over our check. The meal was about $50 in total, and my boyfriend paid with a $100 bill. When the waiter opened the check up and saw the $100 he said, "Oh my! That's so generous!" Again, I'm sure it was a harmless joke, but really? Not after that comment earlier. My boyfriend, needless to say, was not happy with that one. We ended up paying for our meal and leaving a nice tip (certainly not $50 nice) and walked out. Hello! I am pleased to say I have wrote on Yelp before, and this is my second positive review. I placed a take out order a few weeks ago with many adjustments, the girl who took my orders name was Kayla, she was pleasant, bubbly, and was very concerned on insuring my order was correct. When I came in to pick up my order, she stood there with a beautiful smile with my food awaiting. Although it was a busy Saturday night, she made sure that all of her attention was focused on me. After she triple checked my order to make sure everything was right, I was actually shocked because I have received take out before and their was normally some small mess up but it was never a huge deal. She took extra time, even though the restaurant was on a wait to make sure my order was all set. After doing all of this with a caring smile, which honestly put me in a much better mood after a long day of work. When I paid for my take out I handed her a $10 tip, and she looked at me with surprise and told me that was way to much and she couldn't take that, and this was her job, and she loved pleasing customers. I was impressed and in awe that she said this that I gave her another $5. I have got take out from many places, and I have never been so impressed by someone turning my mood around just by her presences. Today was my first time ever at not your average joes and I'm absolutely impressed by the service. As my sister's and I expressed that, our hostess suggested the half price appetizers until we decided what we would like to eat. The nachos were the best I've ever had and the calamari came in a close 2nd. Our server Erin was the best, making sure our needs were met, but not in a pushy way. The manager also stopped by our table on hearing how pleased we were with the good service and gave us coupons for our next visit. We lingered for a few hours and even enjoyed desert while watching the little league playoffs. A great time all around and if you don't know, now you know. This was our first time at NYAJ and we shall be going back again and again! Let me begin the review by saying the bread and oil is delicious. I don't know if refills are of the bread are complimentary but I could have made a meal from the bread and oil. My husband and I split an order of the buffalo chicken strips with the mango salsa. The buffalo strips were delicious and very different than anything we had tried before. The sauce that coated the buffalo strips had a smoky Asian taste. I would recommend this dish if your taste is for fancy chicken wings as that is the closest dish I can think of that would describe this dish. Our wonderful waiter, Erin, told us that NYAJ is a scratch restaurant so the chef is able to add or subtract any ingredient based on dietary requirements. As we no longer eat pork due to health reasons, we discussed with Erin our options. She recommended the jambalaya and my husband jumped at the recommendation and ordered extra shrimp to go with the dish. I order the backyard burger and fries. About thirty minutes went by and we didn't have our food; even as tables that came in after us had their food. Soon, Manager Cara McCoy, came to our table and explained the jambalaya was made with a pork base. As she was letting us know of the issue, our waitress Erin came by and apologized several time for the confusion. She explained that she had been given incorrect information the jambalaya did not include pork. We were so impressed with their attempts to correct the situation. Cara and Erin made suggestions for alternative dishes. As a replacement, my husband order the sirloin tips with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. It would be an understatement to say that he loved the meal and even at everything on his plate! My backyard burger was cooked exactly as I ordered it, medium well. The burger was thick and juicy and served with several delicious slices of pickles and lettuce and tomatoes. I added slices of pepper jack and cheddar which really made the burger. Fries were served on the side. Frankly, the fries were very blah and I didn't eat them. However, the burger was so delicious that I didn't miss them. As a midnight snack we ordered Peanut Thing and the Chocolate Molten Cake....OMG is all I can say about each desserts! Cara and Erin checked on us several times and even gave us a first time visitor kit. It included a menu and coupons. We were so impressed with the level of service we received at this NYAJ. Went with my family last night we sat near the pizza oven area with my 2 small kids and husband..the food was good. But our visit was destroyed by one of the employee in that work in this area she had the most foul mouth I have ever heard in a restaurant..If I want my children to hear the F word as much as we did I would have taken them to a truck stop. She was rude to the servers and anyone who tried to help her..another girl came out at one point when she was busy and when she left she went on a tangent of swears about her.My kids love to watch the pizza guys there is a few who throw it up and they think that is great..But we will never sit in that aea again if I see her working over there they should never hear that language. I have celiac disease and NYAJ's caters to gluten free. Not only do we get gluten free menu items, but we get gluten free rolls before the meal! It might not sound like much but it means a lot when everyone else is eating a roll before the meal and you have to sit there empty handed! I have a love hate relationship with this place because one time I go it's great and the next it's not. One would think that with the business they do and being a chain, they could secure some great people in the kitchen who can put out consistent food. When you look at the open faced kitchen you can tell that it's not a well oiled team. Before I get into the food, it's not just the kitchen staff that needs work. When we sat down, there was no silverware, not a problem but when the host from the front desk (woman-short reddish hair) gave us each silverware, she took each utensil by the non-handle end and placed it down on the table. Who does that? Does she think she's in her own home? Anyway, we had a nice server. She was on top of everything and did a fine job. Now the food- I ordered a medium rare burger. It was medium in the center and well everywhere else. It was dry and had no flavor. The fries were barely warm and limp. My friend ordered the mustard chicken sandwich and she said it was overcooked and dry. Also, one side of her roll was black and burnt and the other perfect. How does that happen? Unfortunately, as much as I like the meals every other time we go there, I'm not willing to do this dance any more. I'll wait until I hear if they ever get their stuff together and maybe then I'll return. read more

Well...after a day of shopping we decided to stop in for a drink. We have been waiting for you guys to open!! It was 4:30. Too early to eat, but a drink and maybe an appetizer was in order. So, we walked in to the bar and it is full. The Patriot's game was on:) We went to the hostess station and asked it we could sit at a table in the bar area for a drink. We were told "those tables are ours" so NO. End of conversation. It was 4:30! There was no one in the dining room! We were not going to take anyone's table! Does anyone here watch Willy Deagle on Food Network? You do NOT turn away a customer!! Especially at a time when there is no one in the place! Servers were hanging and waiting for a table! So, we left. Not Your Average Joe's lost our money tonight and maybe our business ever again:( Bad business in my opinion. So, what did we do? We went someplace close by and ended up eating and having a few drinks and spent $61.00 before tip. Not Your Average Joe's (and server's) loss....While I understand there are rules....rules can and should be broken and this was one of those times. Will we come back and try again?? I went to Not your Average Joes (for the first time ever) today for lunch to get a grilled chicken Caesar entree salad. Unfortunately after taking a few bites I noticed a nymph sized bug crawling around in the bottom of the bowl. I promptly removed it and noticed another one crawling around. There were a decent amount of people in there and I'm not one to make a scene so I calmly informed the waitress of my grave discovery. She was more than pleasant and apologized, offered to take the salad off my tab and brought me another one. This time I actively looked around, pushing the lettuce around and there it was.. another of the same type of bug. At this point I notified the waitress again saying I wish I was joking but there's another bug in the salad. The manager came by and let me know its unacceptable and I let him know I was on break and I have to go. The manager gave me a $20 gift card and I left. In terms of atmosphere, its a great place. In terms of food, I will never recommend Not Your Average Joes to anyone of my friends or colleagues. The one salad I can completely understand, things happen, but both salads containing the same type of bug?! Clearly that whole batch of salad had bugs in it. I wish we had a chain like this in northwest NJ. Open, high ceiling, warehouse vibe. Friendly staff. Comfortable booth. Large COTTON napkins. Dipping oil with hot peppers and parmesean, the bread looked fabulous - husband said it was. I had aked for a gluten free menu so they offered a gluteen free roll for dipping - and it was very very tasty, topped with carmelized onions. They even brought a separate dipping bowl for the gluten free roll - which was not neccessary for me but would be wonderful for those who are severly allergic. The gluten free menu was, alas, not vegan friendly, but there were some lovely choices on the regular menu that met all my crazy dietary restrictions. I had vegetarian spring rolls from the appetizer menu - 2 huge rolls - a lunch size porttion - fresh tasting with asparagus, carrots, cucumber, basil and rice noodles and a fabulous peanut dipping sauce. I had a side of warm quinoa with almonds, cranberries and green onions that was delicious. Hubby had a house made veggie burger wth organic greens as the side which he reported as being very good - it looked fabulous. Service was very good - water glasses - with lemon - never went below half full. If you are in New England, I highly recommend stopping here, especially if you are looking for interesting, tasty, vegetarian or gluten-free options. read more

This is not a complaint about actual service, I didn't get that far. We went in, we saw a wait, understandable since we came during the dinner rush. We put our names down, we were told a 20 minute wait maximum. 20 minutes pass on and nothing, but people ahead of us were moving to seats so that seemed like a good sign. They had the courtesy of passing out some snack, which was nice, but was extremely salty and a bit stale which left me yearning to sit at a table to order some water. 30 minutes, nothing. At that point all the people who were ahead of us were gone and there we were waiting still and new people were waiting around us. I began noticing these people were starting to get seated, which I shrugged off initially as people with reservations. Afterwards some people I knew for certain didn't have reservations, (I was seated waiting right next to the check in desk so I could overhear and I know what they tell people who have reservations vs. don't), but checked in after myself and my boyfriend, a table of two, were seated I started getting annoyed. Both me and my boyfriend were listening attentively to if his name were to be said, and nothing. I could hear the conversations between the hostesses, that's how attentive I was. At about the 45 minute mark we decided to just leave. Maybe it was because they saw we were a couple of nineteen year olds, maybe it was because I didn't decide to sport anything Gucci or Louis Vuitton. Maybe if we knew a waitress we'd have gotten in soon as I saw happen for an older pair. Whatever the scenario, whatever went on, if you're younger, if you're not dressed to the nines in expensive garments or if you don't know someone, don't come in here expecting to be treated fairly. I work as a waitress myself, and I find it hard to believe you don't notice some people who have been right in front of you for quite some time. All I know is you certainly don't put ahead the "preferable" customers in front of other clientele. A customer is a customer and from my own personal waitressing experience you never know who will be nice, young or old, those who are wearing the latest styles to those sporting sweats. You earn what you get with service, which I didn't make it to get to sadly. I'd have loved to make a waiter's or waitress's day letting them know I left happy thanks to them. It was really upsetting and I've never felt quite so disrespected but whatever, stay away. read more

I've ordered from the Seekonk location of Not your average Joe's many many times and have always had an excellent experience... The Warwick location has been a HUGE upset and after two times I will never order again. I have celiac disease, so I cannot eat Gluten. I love that they have a gluten free menu, and are suppose to have two separate kitchens. Again, Seekonk is wonderful and very good about no cross contamination. BUT in Warwick the first time I ordered, I was given regular bread, NOT gluten free, and if I hadn't eaten there prior and known that they look very different, then I would have been very VERY sick. Then I opened my food to find a hair sitting right on top of my mash potatoes. So, I called and let them be aware of the situation. Yes they were nice and sent me a gift card in the mail.. Weeks later I decided to give them another shot.. I got a gluten pasta dish.. Again they did not give me gluten free bread.. and after eating my meal I have been sick for two days.. Definitely cross contamination. They are not safe and I will never take a chance will this place EVER AGAIN. read more

Have been here on several occasions and it had been a nice time. However today was not up to par by any means. I came to treat my boyfriend to lunch. We waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken, over a half an hour before we even received bread and after an hour we still didn't have our pizza. Our server neglected to check on us at all or even listen to our request when she visited in the first place. We watched her talk to another coworker in the back throughout our entire time there. Another employee finally brought our food over, which was cold. Waited at least another 10 minutes for our server to even check on us to see how our food was, which at this point we just wanted to go because we were so frustrated. I found an employee to send the manager over who was apologetic. However, our server never apologized. Only kept walking by and peeking to see if we left money for her while we were waiting for the manager to return. read more

I am new to yelp, so this is my first review. We went to Not Your Average Joe's last night for the first time and found it packed, despite it's large size. We almost left, but were very happy we did not. Once we sat our waitress took our appetizer order, Nachos which were very different,but different good! The manager came over and asked how we our enjoying our nachos, we told him we loved them and asked for some good entree suggestions. He recommended the chicken teriyaki , my wife loves seafood so he suggested the balsamic salmon. Both were fantastic! Thank you Arron! The service and the food were Fantastic all night. I am a big soda drinker and my glass was filled all night! One of my pet peeves, that was met all night! Arron came back and gave us "first time guest packet" which was some coupons and a menu, vey nice touch! I also want to thank the host Lindsay, who got us a booth as requested despite the packed place and even smiled and thanked us when we left! The place was still packed (for a reason!) when we left but she still thanked us! we will be back and highly recommend! read more
