Let me tell you, there are so many people there, all day everyday! Their staff are rude and don't know squat! The place is nasty and hot, because they are so cheap to turn on the AC. Professional and efficient service! Highly recommended! I recently had to authenticate a document with the Chinese Consulate. Yes, the Chinese consulate! If you have ever seen the lines there, you wouldn't want to see them again. Plus, you can't just authenticate your document directly with the consulate --- you have to first get an official translation, then a notarization, followed by an authentication with the office of the state secretary. I had estimated that the process would cost me at least 2 weeks, if I were to do that myself. She's very efficient, thorough, and conscientious. She also knows exactly what to do to get your documents authenticated at the Chinese embassy (including the notary, county & secretary of state signatures that you have to get first). I had two documents that I needed authenticated, and it was handled very well. She also did a great job producing an official certified translation of my passport (which then also needed to be authenticated). Prices are reasonable - $200 per document, plus she will also handle the posting of the documents if you request (additional fee). It is of course cheaper to do everything yourself, but you do NOT want to put yourself through that, trust me. If I did it myself, I would have to go to the notary, county clerk office in Norwalk, Secretary of State office in downtown LA, and finally the Chinese embassy which is only open 4 hours a day. To give an estimate of the processing time -- I brought the documents in Monday night around 7pm, they were ready and mailed out Friday afternoon, and received in China Tuesday/Wednesday. (I did not request expedited, though I think that is an option). Normal time is still VERY fast, as it basically meant she got all the necessary stamps within 3 business days. Olivia is fast, professional, and efficient. I was trying to authenticate my paperwork on my own. That was the wrong thing to do. After several months of getting nowhere with my authentications, I finally tried Olivia. I had documents from different places, California, Georgia, Florida, and even a birth abroad birth certificate that needed authentication. Literally the first time I went into the LA Consulate with that birth abroad certificate before I got to the window a clerk saw my document and said that they would not accept it...and they did not. They did not touch any of my paperwork. My husband and I then went to Olivia. She told us the reason why we were having such problems was because the process is constantly changing. I could not believe how she was able to complete our documents within about a week. People..........DO NOT TRY TO AUTHENTICATE ON YOUR OWN!!!!! If you are going to use ANY service, use Olivia!!!!!! I think it is unfair to provide a bad review based on pricing, because you can call around and choose based on pricing. I believe what we got (3 documents) were reasonably priced and turned around within reasonable time - we did 1) translation 2) California Secretary of State notary and apostille authentication 3) Chinese consulate authentication...all done with professional accuracy.
