Can't believe I'm the first to review this no frills cupcake/muffin shop!…read more When I travel for work, I always search for cupcakeries, and this seemed to be the only cupcake shop within walking distance of my hotel in Davenport. (and it was well within walking distance - glad I don't live near a place like this - I'd weigh a million pounds) The inside of the shop is nothing to speak of. There were a couple people hanging out reading the paper and drinking coffee, but there was a good selection of cupcakes and muffins. I bought a couple things to eat over the course of my trip - a pumpkin muffin, a cappuccino chocolate chunk muffin, and a chocolate cupcake stuffed with chocolate filling. The cupcake was good...but, wow! Those muffins! I love cappuccino muffins and the one I had was absolutely amazing. Although it was hot as hades outside, I enjoyed the fall inspired pumpkin muffin. They were really very good - dense but not to heavy. Soft but not crumbly. THIS is how muffins should be made. This is a definitely a little hidden gem worth checking out if you're in the quad cities!

Mary was very responsive on email and worked with our complicated travel schedules to arrange a "take home" tasting so we could select our cake flavors and frosting. While we didn't stretch her much as an artist (her gallery proves that she's as much a sculptor as a baker), she was very attentive to our simpler aesthetic and produced exactly the grand, elegant wedding cake we had hoped for. When I called to make sure it was ready before I left the office, it wasn't and wouldn't be ready at a time during the day when I could get it. My fault for not hammering out a n exact time. They delivered it to my office for no extra fees! It turned out perfectly and tastes delicious!

only giving one star, since there's no option for zero stars…read more let me tell you about "sugar a la mode" it's name states 'sugar' yet they don't have ANY sugar at all. don't understand this when they're supposed to be a bakery and dessert place. First of all, we had to wait a while to even be greeted by anyone, second, my GF Apple nacho dessert was just a poorly cut apple with part of the stems in it, no one explained to me that I was able to put the toppings on myself, I had to deduce it myself and ask, my dad's coffee tasted like bathroom water, they didn't even have sugar available for the disgusting coffee, which by they way got both my husband and my father sick, the cake was very dry, and the cheesecake was okay. The customer service is just mediocre, and the worst part is the price. I feel like we just had been robed. $33 for 3 desserts is absurd, and the cherry on top is that you don't know how much they'll charge you until the end, and on top of that, they even expect a tip! Which we have not to be rude, but we will never again spend our money on this place. Don't waste your money!
