Then, after selling at a deceptive split - it is Excessively Difficult to get paid. Have shopped here and bought accent pieces and a couple ~high$ items - had NO idea how badly consigners were being ripped off. Have consigned items with ethical businesses for years, in multiple cities, and had a MCM booth in an ethical antique mall in another state for 6yrs. Have never seen such a scammy business model. I am working on forgiving these assholes for allowing my mother in law(who is in the early stages of dementia) to sell family heirlooms in his store. I'm not as angry as I was when I posted my original review, however i still want to put my one star experience on this page. DO NOT CONSIGN HERE. if I could give it a big fat zero I would. Buyer beware! You're buying stolen merchandise! I wish I had read the reviews before I agreed to consign my antique armoire. After about 2 months my husband stopped in and the armoire was not on the showroom floor. They never called, so I stopped in and the employee couldn't give me any information except to say; it was not in the store, but it had been returned to stock (in the computer) after my husband left. It took a while but I was finally able to get $400 out of my sofa after threatening lawsuits and educating the owner on the law regarding conversion and fraud. But not after being abused in emails, telling me that "I was the reason small businesses had such a hard time." He had cheated me by selling my $800 sofa for $310 without my permission and I was the unreasonable person? I was only going to get a fraction of the $310 and there was just no way I was going to stand for that, especially since I didn't even have a CONTRACT for him to sell on my behalf! If I could give less than one star I would. I came in with $700 of merchandise to consign and had to hound them for the sale proceeds...a measly $75. They keep the "furniture that doesn't sell after mark down" so you are essentially giving them your things for no compensation at all. I wonder where they took all my stuff? Perhaps their store in another state? Do they sell it there for 100% profit? I don't know but it all seems very fishy. Do not support this "business". read more

Horrible store. Walked around looking at grossly overpriced furniture while never hearing a hello or welcome to the store. Completely ignored the whole time here. Will never be coming back. It's true what they say -- it's not super customer friendly, but there are some really special pieces here. This is one of my favorite used furniture stores in Asheville. As far as pricing goes, it varies and you should attempt to negotiate down if you really want to take something home. I bought some great items at this store and sold a few things too and all went well. Because of these positive experiences I felt comfortable consigning a number of large pieces of furniture when we downsized and moved from AVL. Brandon was so enthusiastic about being able to sell them and he assured me he would send a check as soon as they sold. Well, I waited and I called and I messaged and he told me every time the items had sold and he was about to put that check in the mail. It's been over a year now. Do not consign with this store. And if you buy something wonderful at a good price, the reason is that they are essentially selling stolen items. read more

Extremely overpriced for a used furniture store. Really disappointing. I can find better deals at TJMaxx on NEW furniture. Also, better deals at upscale antique stores. I would love to shop here, I have seen items I would like to purchase but, can honestly say, I found better deals on the SAME items through the IWanna and Craigslist. They came and got a truck load of furniture and vintage stuff from me fall of 2016. The contract says they keep your things for a limited period and then you either have to pick it up or they donate it. I called repeatedly asking whether my things had sold. They did not have my new address on file so never sent me my check for the few things that did. Some furniture they said was in storage so there was no way to know when it went on the floor and when or if it sold unless I kept calling. They sent me one check but only because I kept calling. The rest I have no idea. I gave up. I lost a lot because some of it was really worth some money. But unless I drive back to Asheville there is no way to know where it is. Don't give them anything to sell for you or this could happen to you. read more

I had a terrible experience with this company. I sold my house last summer and had to move within 45-days and didn't have room for my Stickley dining room set. My realtor suggested I consign with Nothing New. Great idea, I thought. The owner of Nothing New knew Stickley and came to my house to retrieve these items and many more. He felt confident that he could sell it all. He has since sold the business and I never saw a penny from that set. Their website shows that they paid me $408.50 but I never received a check. I did receive a check for $48 in the mail and assumed that they would mail future checks. When I finally called to question what happened to my check I was told that there was a new owner. The new owner said that his policy is that if you didn't pick up a check within 90-days they would shred it. Having my first check arrive in the mail, I assumed that future checks would also arrive in the mail. Gosh, was I a sucker. I am heartbroken and disgusted with the way Nothing New conducted businessI In the future I will always donate my treasures to non-profits like the Re Store, Brother Wolf, Habitat and the like. read more

I would never do business with this place again. The previous owner notified me when anything was sold, and I could come in that day for the check for 75% of the selling price. With the present owner you are never notified if something sells and you have to wait until the 4 month contract is up to collect anything owed to you, even if it sells the first day of the contract. And when you get paid it is 50%, not the 75% previously. Lastly, I had to wait two weeks after the contract period was up to get paid. And that was after four calls to the owner where I received excuse after excuse. All things considered this was a very negative experience and I would not recommend Nothing New to anyone. read more

This place is a hidden gem located in plain sight. I've lived here for over a decade now and I frequent all of the usual shops for nice vintage furniture and/or a good deal. I just found this place last month! Great selection, great deals. They will work with you if a piece has been there over 4 months. Before that, it's 10% off the listed price of the piece for every month it's been there, up to 40%. They don't list the current price and don't have the discount structure posted in an obvious place, which could discourage a buyer if they didn't know this. However, the salesmen have always been very helpful and friendly and told me this as soon as I walked it the store. They have a range of prices, so there are quite a few very expensive, but very high quality, items. I bought a vintage lamp for $25, a beautiful vintage side table at a steal for $25 and a 100+ year old chest for $100. I also saw a Persian rug listed for $1700 and a stunning handmade iron canopy bed for $5000. Worth taking a look!! I feel like I should keep this place a secret! read more

Had a great experience at Nothing New! We found the owner to be friendly and helpful, the inventory was organized and the pricing was fair for the quality of items. There was a large selection and a lot of choices. In addition to always being on the lookout for cute items for my own home, I like to look for project pieces and this has been a great place to find them. read more

Their furniture is nice but SELLERS BEWARE! Either very incompetent or totally dishonest. The store confiscated some of my merchandise after I had e-mailed the date I'd pick up unsold items after the contract expired. They said that was fine but when I arrived the clerk said: "Go find your stuff--we don't have time to locate items that aren't sold." When I only found 2 of 9 they looked up the contract and : "Oh, yeah, the store decided to buy them" (at rock bottom prices). Payment for items sold to the store or their customers has not been received 3 weeks after the contract expired. read more

Don't waste your time. The items for sale are mostly vastly over-priced yard sale left-overs and junk. The employees are rude and unprofessional. I observed a younger male employee named Samuel being arrogant and haughty and making snide remarks while sitting on one of the sofas and chatting with a friend and completely ignoring customers who looked in need of assistance. I then watched the owner being outright rude to someone attempting to consign an item. She had a nice, framed piece of artwork and he told her that because it was not signed by the artist he had no interest in it and that she should either donate it to the nearest Goodwill or throw it in the trash outside the store when she left. read more
