Girl dinner on a Saturday night @thaiboat.rva in the heart of the Fan is a cute whimsical authentic Thai spot I think you might enjoy! We were greeted and seated quickly (it was later in the evening) and our waitress was energetic and engaging as she gave us a run down of her favs and popular items! From her recommendations we ordered the crab rangoons (3.9/5)the filling was seasoned and they were served hot, the sauce was a bit sweet but tasty! Mimi ordered the Thai Mafia and baby shout out to the bartender (10/5) good and strong lol! For our entree's Mimi ordered the Khaw Pad Poo crab fried rice (4/5 plenty of real crab meat where we did get a shell or two which happens, huge portion and tasty) and I ordered the Bangkok chicken dish (which was also recommended was good, chicken was crispy, veggies fresh, added a bit more heat by using some of Mimi's sauce tho some of the peppers were already spicy in my dish I was just looking for a wow factor maybe a bit more salt/flavor idk 3.1/5 and they served their white rice in the shape of a kitty lol loved the details). I adore their space/atmosphere which is great for late evening meet ups or girl dinners like we did! If in the area give them a go!

Thai Boat is an amazing new place that opened up in the Fan. I loved all they had to offer! The service was amazing, the portions were large, and the prices are fair. I loved the presentation of each dish, they put a lot of care into it. Highlights of my visit were: - Pad Kee Mao with Tofu (Drunken Noodles) -Rice was in a cute cat shape! -my dish came in a cute boat With its proximity to bars and Carytown, this would make a great date night spot.

Instant new fav spot in RVA. The interior is cozy and eclectic, super fun vibes, and the bartenders and staff are awesome. The cocktail list is one of the absolute best I've seen in a WHILE. Love that everything on it has a bit of tropical vibe, especially their mule. Their food (we got pad Thai and crab fried rice) was fantastic! Cannot wait to go back here every chance possible.

Really great Thai spot. Husband and I got the Moo Ping as an appetizer and entrees were Pad See Eaw and Thai Basil. All were amazing. If you like spicy, try their dry chili seasoning but use sparingly. Staff was super friendly and food was good in timely manner and definitely fresh to order. I'd say this Thai restaurant is on par with somewhere like My Noodle Bar. Oh and the two cutest things were shaping the rice into a cat and serving my entree in a boat dish.

Enjoyed a warm lunch on a cold Saturday afternoon with a friend. We skipped cocktails today opting for Cokes and started with the crab rangoons and pork belly. Those were prob the best rangoons I've had in my life!! For the main I had the red curry and my friend had a soup. Both were delicious and enough to take home for a second meal. Service was attentive, the fella was happy to offer recommendations. The only con was how freezing it was in there. Cold enough where everyone had their winter coats on while eating. The metal seats prob made the situation worse. Regardless would go back to try something different (on a warmer day)

Very cute, intimate vibe with funky decor. Vibrant bar with a local feel. Large menu and awesome service. My friend ordered the pad Thai which arrived in a wooden boat! My green curry was really good as well.

This place has such great food, great vibes, and wonderful staff. If they had a better happy hour, I'd be here all the time! Some of the best thai food in the area, but a little on the pricier side. Will definitely be back though!

She added chicken to her ramen, but unfortunately, it seemed either overcooked or processed. However, the staff handled the issue well and removed it from our bill, which we truly appreciated. Overall, we had a great family dining experience and would definitely return!

To me, a great presentation and a beautiful atmosphere are wonderful, but at the end of the day? Nothing can replace pure, authentic flavor. Well, Fat Dragon in Virginia absolutely blew me away. From the second we walked in, the experience was seamless. We had a party of eight with no reservation, and they sat us immediately. The ambiance was great, the portions were incredibly generous, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and completely on top of their game. Drinks arrived fast, and the entire meal flowed beautifully without a single hitch. But let's get to the real highlight of the night: the Tsingtao beer-battered mushrooms. Oh my goodness, they were out of this world! Perfectly fried and crispy on the outside, incredibly juicy on the inside, and dusted with a spicy Sichuan cloud that made them completely irresistible. They were so good that even my father--who isn't a mushroom lover at all--couldn't stop eating them! For my main course, I had the Fei Lone steak, and it was absolutely sublime. Tender, perfectly prepared, and packed with flavor. If you appreciate amazing service, a great vibe, and food that actually delivers on taste, do yourself a favor and check out Fat Dragon. I'll definitely be thinking about those mushrooms for a long time!

The entryway is interesting and provides some shelter from the rain, allowing you to manage your umbrella before entering. We were seated within seconds, and our server, Liza, came by very promptly with some water for our table. I felt slightly anxious at first, being that we were in a cozy two-top amongst the fray, but it subsided quickly because everyone was respectful and reasonably quiet. We ordered the veggie spring rolls to start, and I had the Chinatown Ramen, and my partner had the Chicken Fried Noodles. The appetizer was hot, savory, and spicy with the duck sauce and hot mustard mixture. If you like milder sauce, do not mix it. The entrees came out within five or so minutes of the appetizers, which seemed quick for a busy night. The ramen was spicy, hot, and filling. I was only able to finish about half. We will be enjoying those leftovers tonight. My partner said that her noodles and chicken were well-seasoned and delicious, too. Looking around the restaurant, it is clear that they support the local LGBTQ+ community, and it is even labeled as a Safe Space on the beautifully manicured, makeshift chalkboard/menu/posting board. The clientele and staff alike seemed warm and kind, based solely on limited interactions and observation on my part. If you are looking for a traditional American-Chinese food restaurant (think buffet-style items), this is likely not the place for you. There were no mishaps or snafus with our orders. Liza performed her duties well, and I can surely recommend this restaurant to anyone who doesn't mind a mix of Japanese and Chinese cuisine.
